New Florida A&M head basketball coach Charlie Ward is quickly making his impression on his new Rattlers team as he has hired former Florida State assistant Jarrod Lazarus to his coaching staff, per a release by the athletic department.

'Jarrod Lazarus is the perfect addition as Associate Head Coach at Florida A&M. His leadership, passion for the game, and dedication to developing young talent will elevate the program,' said Ward in a statement.
Lazaurus expressed his excitement to join the coaching staff, saying, 'I'm thrilled to join Florida A&M Men's Basketball and be part of such a historic program. I would like to thank Head Coach Charlie Ward for this amazing opportunity. I look forward to working with the team, embracing the culture, and helping take this program to new heights.'
Lazaurus earned a B.S. in Business Management from Florida State University in 2009 and completed his MBA in Business Administration at Middle Tennessee State University in 2016. Lazarus most recently served as an Assistant Coach at Florida State University under Leonard Hamilton.
Prior to that, he spent five seasons as the Director of Basketball Operations for Hamilton and his staff. During his time with the Seminoles, Lazarus helped lead FSU to the Sweet 16 of the 2021 NCAA Tournament, the championship game of the 2021 ACC Tournament, and the 2020 ACC Championship.

In 2020, he played a key role in leading the Seminoles to their first-ever ACC Regular Season Championship. The team achieved a 26-5 overall record and an impressive 16-4 in ACC play, setting a new school record for ACC wins in a single season. They ended the season ranked No. 4 in the final Associated Press poll, the highest final ranking in school history.
Florida State was poised to secure one of the top NCAA Tournament seeds before the event was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. That year also saw Patrick Williams (No. 4, Chicago Bulls) and Devin Vassell (No. 11, San Antonio Spurs) become the first pair of Seminoles selected in the NBA Draft Lottery.
He now joins a Florida A&M team that looks to continue its ascent to contenders in the SWAC, led by Ward in his first season with the program.

Oklahoma Women's Basketball SEC opponents for 2025-2026 season The Oklahoma Sooners women's basketball team is coming off their first Sweet 16 appearance in the NCAA tournament under head coach Jenny Baranczyk. The Sooners went 27-8 and 11-5 in their first season in the SEC, good for fourth place in the conference. As OU gets ready for year two, the SEC released the conference opponents Oklahoma will face this season. Coming to the Lloyd Noble Center this season will be three of the best programs in the sport in South Carolina, Tennessee, and LSU. Those three schools have combined for 12 national titles. Tennessee is one of the blue-bloods of the sport. South Carolina has been on a dominant run under Dawn Staley. The Gamecocks have won three national championships since 2017, most recently in 2024. LSU earned its first national title in 2023 under Kim Mulkey. Also coming to Norman for the 2025-2026 basketball season are Arkansas, Florida, Ole Miss, and Mississippi State. This season, the Sooners will go on the road to face Alabama, Auburn, Georgia, Kentucky, Missouri, Vanderbilt, and the Texas Longhorns. Unfortunately, the Sooners will only face the Longhorns once in 2025-2026, as SEC schedule makers have opted to give the Red River Rivals other home-and-home matchups. Oklahoma's only home and home matchup this season comes against the Texas A&M Aggies. Last year the Sooners beat the Aggies 77-62, led by 16 points from Raegan Beers. Texas will take on the LSU Tigers in a home and home next year. The 2025-2026 season marks the arrival of the No. 1 player in the country for the 2025 recruiting class, Aaliyah Chavez. She'll join a roster full of experience with Beers, Peyton Verhulst, Sahara Williams, and Zya Vann. Elite 2026 4-star running back commits to Texas A&M over Texas Texas A&M's recruiting success under coach Mike Elko has been nothing short of spectacular after landing three 2026 prospects since hosting 15 last weekend. Starting with three-star star quarterback/athlete Kaeden Johnson on Saturday night, four-star offensive lineman Samuel Rosebourogh followed suit on Monday night, and on Tuesday afternoon, four-star running back KJ Edwards rounded things with his pledge. During his 2024 junior season, Edwards ran for 1,789 yards and 23 touchdowns on the ground, paired with 383 receiving yards and three touchdowns through the air. Edwards is one of the top backs in the country, and by far one of the fastest athletes at any position, possessing track speed and elite footwork, which has aided in breaking leg tackles, while his upfield burst spells game over for defenders in pursuit. After landing four-star back Jonathan Hatton early in the offseason, it was rumored that Elko and running back coach Trooper Taylor were looking to make another splash in the running back room. What's even more impressive is that Texas A&M was one of the last programs to schedule an official visit with Edwards, as Alabama and LSU had already hosted the elite back, while Texas was scheduled to host the Carthage (TX) native this weekend before he canceled the trip. Just like Roseborough, Elko and his staff have beaten out the Texas Longhorns for another priority prospect, and it's fair to say that Edwards is one of the highest-ranked prospects on their proverbial big board. With two running back commits in the cycle, Hatton and Edwards represent the future backfield once Le'Veon Moss and Rueben Owens eventually depart, paired with incoming freshmen Deondrae "Tiger" Riden and Jamarion Morrow. Like several of Texas A&M's 2026 commits, Edwards has immediate NFL potential and could become a future superstar in OC Collin Klein's scheme. According to 247Sports Composite, Edwards is currently positioned as the 42nd-ranked prospect in the class, the 3rd-ranked running back, and 7the th-ranked prospect in Texas.
