Guwahati: BJP, which is aggressively campaigning in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) for the upcoming elections to the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC), will decide the seats it will contest in the first week of Aug.
CM
Himanta Biswa Sarma
, who held a mega rally in Kokrajhar on Monday, said, "We have not yet taken any decision regarding how many seats BJP will contest. Based on reports from the in-charges, the party will make a decision." He added that BJP is not against any political party; rather, the party is in favour of the people of BTR. "BJP does not need to contest against any political party. The party should contest the battle of ballots for the development of Bodoland," he said.
The chief minister added that peace was established in BTR in the last five years, and the BJP will work to bring equality, development, and progress in the next five. Criticising Congress, Sarma accused the party of fuelling communal clashes during their time, and therefore, he said, the people of BTR have rejected them.
Meanwhile, after attending the rally in Kokrajhar, he said, "Whether it's a political event or a govt program, today thousands of people in the BTR region can participate fearlessly due to the atmosphere of peace.

Remember, during Congress's time, this was impossible. This makes it clear: If Modi is there, it is possible."
The chief minister also held a review meeting at the Kokrajhar district commissioner's office. He assessed the preparations put in place in the district for the successful implementation of Orunodoi 3.0, Mukhyamantrir Mahila Udyamita Abhijan, and Eti Koli Duti Paat. It may be noted that in Kokrajhar district, 60,000 beneficiaries were covered under Orunodoi. However, this number will be increased to 1.40 lakh under Orunodoi 3.0.

Congress takes swipe at PM Modi after he returns from five-nation visit

The Congress on Thursday took a swipe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi after he returned home from his five-nation visit, saying that now that he is back, he could find time to visit Manipur, review why the Pahalgam terrorists are yet to be brought to justice and reflect on infrastructure collapses in his home state. The opposition party also said the PM could also, for a change, chair an all-party meeting to firm up the agenda for the forthcoming Monsoon session of Parliament. Prime Minister Modi returned to India this morning after his visit to five nations -Ghana, Trinidad and Tobago, Argentina, Brazil and Namibia. During the trip, Modi also attended the 17th BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Congress general secretary in-charge communications Jairam Ramesh said, "India welcomes back its Super Premium Frequent Flier PM who is expected to be in the country for perhaps three weeks before jetting around again." "Now that he is here, he could find the time to visit Manipur where the people have been awaiting him for more than two years; review why the Pahalgam terrorists have yet to be brought to justice; reflect on infrastructure collapses in his home state; and sanction assistance to Himachal Pradesh that has been devastated by floods," Ramesh said. The prime minister could also devote his attention to the reform of GST to stimulate mass consumption and also take steps to boost private investment by companies other than a few and favoured big business groups, the Congress leader said. "He could also, for a change, chair an all-party meeting to firm up the agenda for the forthcoming Monsoon session of Parliament," Ramesh said. The Monsoon session of Parliament begins on July 21. Last week, Modi embarked on the five-nation tour beginning with Ghana. He then travelled to Trinidad and Tobago on a two-day visit from July 3 to 4. In the third leg of his visit, Modi visited Argentina from July 4 to 5. In the fourth leg of his visit, Modi travelled to Brazil at the invitation of President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva. The prime minister visited Brazil from July 5 to 8 and attended the 17th BRICS Summit followed by a state visit. Modi then visited Namibia before his return to India. Bandi distributes 20,000 cycles to Class 10 students

Karimnagar: Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Kumar launched a programme to distribute 20,000 bicycles which he himself purchased for Class 10 students here on Wednesday. First, bicycles were distributed to all the students studying in Class 10 in government schools in Karimnagar town. Bandi Sanjay said Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a leader who has always been there for the people, inspired him to serve society and he is following in his footsteps and helping people as much as possible. He informed that the district Collector Pamela Satpathy gave the idea of distributing the bicycles to students. The Collector proposed that it would be a good idea to give bicycles to girls under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao programme. The Union Minister asked the owners of some corporate companies to give some of the money they earn under the CSR fund, they responded positively and provided the funds and with him bought and distributed bicycles. He told the students that he too grew up in poverty like them since childhood. 'I was born and raised here in Kapuwada. My parents worked very hard to provide education. Being a person who knows hardships and difficulties students are facing, the bicycles are being distributed' he said. 'Very soon 'Modi Kits' will be distributed. Whether there are thousands or lakhs of people, all will be distributed Modi Kits. As long as I am an MP, I will distribute bicycles to all the students studying in Class 10 every year. I will also distribute Modi Kits' Bandi Sanjay said. Teacher MLC Malka Komaraiah said that the Bandi Sanjay bicycle distribution programme is an ideal for all. Other public representatives have also taken inspiration and followed the idea of distributing bicycles to students across the country. BJP takes dig at Arvind Kejriwal over his Nobel Prize claim; AAP says focus on work instead of ‘name-calling'

AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal's assertion that he should get a Nobel Prize for governance is "laughable", Delhi BJP chief Virendra Sachdeva said on Wednesday (July 9, 2025). Taking a dig at the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader, Mr. Sachdeva said he would get the award if there were categories for "incompetence" and "corruption". The AAP hit back at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), saying it should focus on governance in Delhi instead of name-calling. "Virendra Sachdeva is in the government now. It is time to govern, not just talk. Opposition days are over — now you have to deliver. Delhi is waiting for real work, not distractions or name-calling," Delhi AAP president Saurabh Bharadwaj said in a statement. Speaking at the release of the Punjabi edition of a book, titled "Kejriwal Model", in Chandigarh on Tuesday (July 8, 2025), the AAP supremo elaborated on the governance model adopted by the previous government in Delhi, led by his party. Referring to challenges faced by the AAP government in the national capital, Mr. Kejriwal said, "Despite being stopped from working, we performed. I should get a Nobel Prize for governance and administration for doing so much despite there being a lieutenant governor and various difficulties." Mr. Sachdeva took a dig at Mr. Kejriwal, saying he would have surely received a Nobel Prize if there were categories for "incompetence, anarchy and corruption". Several scams, including the construction of the "sheesh mahal", took place during Mr. Keriwal's rule in Delhi, he alleged. The BJP had accused Kejriwal of spending crores of rupees to renovate and refurbish the Chief Minister's residence in Delhi, calling it the "sheesh mahal". "Kejriwal demanding a Nobel Prize for himself is laughable. The people of Delhi are stunned to hear about his desire for a Nobel Prize," Mr. Sachdeva said. Mr. Kejriwal, who served as the Delhi Chief Minister from 2015 till September 2024, said at the book release that his model can only run on honesty. "If a government is corrupt, if its ministers are looting, this model will collapse," he said, adding that the AAP has proven this in Punjab as well. "Previous governments had claimed that the treasury was empty. But we fixed schools and hospitals, and gave free electricity, because we curbed corruption and saved public money," the AAP national convenor said. He criticised the BJP government in Delhi, alleging that after the AAP left office, services have "collapsed" in the national capital. Mr. Sachdeva said the people of Delhi have not forgotten the "scams" related to panic buttons in public transport buses, pension for women, classroom construction and liquor, among others.
