Sixers rookie weighs in on Damian Lillard's shot over Paul George
When it comes to Philadelphia 76ers star Paul George, many will bring up his own impressive accolades such as being named an All-Star nine times or leading the Indiana Pacers to the Eastern Conference finals twice and the Los Angeles Clippers to their only conference finals appearance in 2021.
However, there is a section of fans that will bring up the time Portland Trail Blazers star Damian Lillard drilled a deep fallaway 3-pointer at the buzzer over George to eliminate the Oklahoma City Thunder in the 2019 playoffs. A shot in which George labeled "a bad shot" when it was all over and done with.
Sixers rookie VJ Edgecombe hopped on the latest episode of "Podcast P with Paul George" and admitted that he's a huge fan of Lillard's and the two actually have a relationship. He then gave his thoughts on Lillard's shot over George to beat the Thunder:
That's a good shot. It's so crazy. I know the back story about it, so I guess he was working on that shot the night before. He's working on that exact shot. Why not shoot it? I mean, he do shoot from there. It ain't like he don't shoot from there.
After George explained himself even further and gave Lillard his credit, Edgecombe did double back and stuck up for his new teammate:
It's over my teammate, though. So it's a bad shot. (Which then drew laughs from everybody in the room).
Edgecombe will look to make an impact with the Sixers as he begins his first go-around in the NBA in the 2025-26 season.

Sixers big man Joel Embiid in attendance as Phillies take on Tigers
The NBA offseason calendar has flipped to August as now is the time for players to begin preparation for the upcoming season. Philadelphia 76ers star Joel Embiid is continuing to rehab as he works his way back from April knee surgery--his second in 14 months--but appears to be in good spirits. The Philadelphia Phillies are continuing their march to the postseason, and on Saturday, played host to the Detroit Tigers. The contest featured an excellent pitching matchup as Zack Wheeler took the mound for Philadelphia while Tarik Skubal was on the bump for Detroit. The two are legitimate contenders for the Cy Young award in their respective leagues. Embiid pulled up to Citizens Bank Park--as he does regularly--to take in the Phillies vs. Tigers matchup. The Sixers will be counting on Embiid to be ready to roll when training camp begins. After playing only 19 games due to the left knee limiting him, the big fella is taking his time and hopes to be ready for when the season begins in October. WATCH: Former New Orleans Saints CB Eric Allen enshrined at the Pro Football Hall of Fame
Congratulations are in order for Eric Allen; the 14-year NFL cornerback was enshrined at the Pro Football Hall of Fame on Saturday as part of its four-man Class of 2025. Along with former defensive end Jared Allen, tight end Antonio Gates, and wide receiver Sterling Sharpe, Allen's enshrined made for a celebratory occasion. You can view Allen's full 17-minute address here. He thanked many people in his enshrinement speech, but he singled out New Orleans Saints owners Tom and Gayle Benson for adding him to their team: "I want to thank Mr. and Mrs. Benson for the opportunity to join the Saints and play in the great city in New Orleans. I truly appreciate you guys for giving me the opportunity to wear that jersey." While he spent the first half of his career with the Philadelphia Eagles, who picked him in the second round of the 1988 NFL draft out of Arizona State, Allen accomplished great things for several different teams. After putting himself on the map with five Pro Bowl appearances and several All-Pro nods in Philadelphia, Allen started all 48 games he played for the Saints from 1995 (when he was selected for his sixth, and final, Pro Bowl appearance) to 1997. He closed out his career with four years on the Oakland Raiders, retiring after the 2001 season. Allen finished his career with 54 interceptions, returning 8 of them for touchdowns, as well as 6 forced fumbles and 7 fumble recoveries. He was credited with 787 combined tackles (730 of them solo stops), and he started 214 of his 217 games played in the regular season. Only two cornerbacks have more starts in NFL history: Ronde Barber (216) and the immortal Darrell Green (248). Now Allen has joined them at the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Lakers' Adou Thiero spotted working out at team practice facility
Los Angeles Lakers rookie Adou Thiero was pictured working out at the team practice facility on Friday in preparation for his upcoming rookie campaign in the NBA. Thiero averaged a career-high 15.1 points, 5.8 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.6 steals on 54.5% shooting from the field in 27 games as a junior last season at Arkansas. He was tied for the most points on the team (407), despite missing eight games due to a left knee hyperextension. The 36th pick has been around for much of the offseason after missing summer league as he continued to recover from his knee injury. He was also among those on hand to support Luka Dončić after the five-time All-Star signed a three-year, $165 million contract extension on Saturday. Thiero registered eight 20-point performances with the Razorbacks, including a season-high 26 points and 10 rebounds on Dec. 7 in a win over UTSA. He ranked second in the SEC in field-goal percentage and eighth in box plus-minus (plus-10.6). The 21-year-old Thiero reportedly agreed to sign a three-year, $5.95 million contract with the Lakers via the second-round pick exception. The first two years are guaranteed on the contract, which includes a team option in the last season. After missing summer league, Thiero is expected to be ready for the start of training camp next month. He is working to prepare himself to contribute to the team and is eager to get to work.
