e-Aadhaar App Launch: You Can Soon Update Name, Address, Mobile Number In Just One Click
A major highlight of the new app will be the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Face ID technology to provide secure, remote access to Aadhaar services In a major digital push, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) is working on a new mobile application, tentatively titled 'e-Aadhaar', that will allow citizens to update key personal information such as name, address, date of birth, and mobile number directly from their smartphones. The app, still in development, is being designed as an all-in-one platform to simplify the often cumbersome Aadhaar update process. According to sources within UIDAI, the upcoming app is expected to drastically reduce the need for physical visits to Aadhaar enrollment centres for routine updates. Instead, users will be able to make most changes remotely, through a user-friendly interface, thus eliminating long queues, paperwork, and delays. Only biometric updates, such as fingerprint and iris authentication, will continue to require in-person verification at designated centres from November 2025 onwards. A major highlight of the new app will be the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Face ID technology to provide secure, remote access to Aadhaar services. This digital identification method is expected to offer both convenience and strong protection against identity fraud. The app will also tap into government-verified databases to automatically retrieve supporting documents. This means that data from sources such as the PAN database, passport office, driving licence registry, PDS ration card system, and MNREGA records could be used to cross-verify user-submitted details. Utility bills, such as electricity statements, may also be accepted for verifying residential addresses. The move is part of a broader effort by UIDAI and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) to streamline Aadhaar-linked services and make them more accessible. Recently, the government launched the 'Aadhaar Good Governance Portal', a platform aimed at expediting Aadhaar verification requests while enhancing transparency and operational efficiency. With over 130 crore Aadhaar holders in India, the new mobile application is expected to be a game changer, especially for those living in remote areas or with limited access to Aadhaar centres. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Pakistan army chief Asim Munir to attend CENTCOM chief's farewell, second visit to US in two months
This will be Munir's second visit to the US after his tour in June that included a two-hour luncheon meeting with President Donald Trump at the White House. Later, Pakistan nominated Trump for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize. The event, scheduled to take place at CENTCOM Headquarters in MacDill Air Force Base, follows Kurilla's praise of Pakistan a few weeks ago for its counter-terrorism cooperation. The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) had invited Munir to attend the change of command ceremony. New Delhi: Pakistan Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Asim Munir is set to travel to Tampa this week to attend the official farewell ceremony of the U.S. CENTCOM Commander General Michael Kurilla. Kurilla earlier was awarded Pakistan's prestigious Nishan-e-Imtiaz (military) last month in a high-profile ceremony held at the Presidential Palace in Islamabad. According to Radio Pakistan, the award recognised General Kurilla's 'outstanding contributions to regional security and dedicated efforts in enhancing US-Pakistan strategic defense cooperation.' In Tampa, Munir will attend a private dinner being hosted on 8 August by Florida-based Pakistani-American businessman Adnan Asad, sources told ThePrint. The dinner will bring together a select group of guests from military, business, and diplomatic communities. Adnan Asad, a cousin of the late Pakistani military ruler General Pervez Musharraf, is a prominent figure with deep-rooted connections in political, military, and business circles. Based in Florida, Asad owns Venus Group, a company that has long provided military-grade food and logistical supplies to international defense contractors, including during periods of major overseas military deployments. Once a small-time tissue paper manufacturer, Asad's business empire expanded significantly during Musharraf's rule. He had cultivated close relationships with now-jailed former prime minister Imran Khan. In August 2019, he hosted an extravagant pre-wedding celebration for his daughter in Karachi, famously dubbed the 'Mika Singh Night'. The event featured a performance by pop singer Mika Singh and was attended by family members of India's most wanted underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, according to several media reports. Farmers' welfare is our priority, prepared to pay any price, says PM Modi
New Delhi, Aug 7 (UNI) In the face of US President Donald Trump's decision to double tariffs on India to 50 percent, including an additional 25 percent duty linked to India's purchase of Russian oil, Prime Minister Narendra Modi asserted that India will never compromise on the interests of its farmers and fishermen. He underscored his government's sustained efforts to increase their income while reducing input costs. PM Modi further stated that he is "personally prepared to pay any price for this cause". "Our topmost priority is the welfare of our farmers. India will never compromise on the interests of its farmers, livestock rearers, and fishers. I am personally prepared to pay any price for this cause. For our farmers, for our fishers, and for our animal rearers and India stands ready," PM Modi said. "We are working tirelessly to increase farmers' income, reduce input costs, and create new sources of livelihood," he said. 'The strength of India's farmers is the foundation of the nation's progress,' said the Prime Minister after inaugurating the MS Swaminathan Centenary International Conference here, reiterating the government's unwavering commitment to the welfare of farmers, fishermen, and dairy workers. "Our government considers the strength of farmers as the foundation of India's development. The policies of the past few years have not just provided support, but also instilled confidence in our farmers. Listing out the schemes implemented by his government, PM Modi said, "The PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi offers direct financial assistance to small farmers. The PM Fasal Bima Yojana protects them from crop losses. The PM Krishi Sinchai Yojana addresses irrigation issues. The formation of 10,000 FPOs has boosted collective bargaining for small farmers. Support to cooperatives and self-help groups has revitalized the rural economy. Platforms like e-NAM have made it easier for farmers to sell their produce. The PM Kisan Sampada Yojana has accelerated food processing and storage infrastructure. Recently, we approved the PM Dhan Dhanya Yojana, focusing on 100 underdeveloped districts to provide infrastructure and financial support to farming communities." The Prime Minister noted that India is currently the world's leading producer of milk, pulses, and jute, and achieved its highest-ever foodgrain output last year. He credited much of this success to the legacy of Dr. MS Swaminathan, lauding his pivotal role in making India self-reliant in food production. 'Dr. Swaminathan not only advanced biodiversity but also introduced the visionary concept of bio-happiness,' Modi said, highlighting the scientist's pioneering contributions to agricultural science. He added that Dr. Swaminathan's ideas continue to influence India's agriculture sector to this day. The Prime Minister stressed the need for the country's agricultural research community to focus on ensuring nutritional security, in addition to food security. He called for the development of more climate-resilient and heat-tolerant crop varieties in view of changing climatic patterns. Modi also noted that the government had the honour of conferring the Bharat Ratna upon Dr. Swaminathan, in recognition of his invaluable service to the nation. He further added that over the past decade, the handloom sector had been revitalised, gaining both identity and strength across the country. UNI AJ AAB
