UP Girl Dies After Hospital Allegedly Denies Treatment Over Rs 20,000 Fee

A five-year-old girl died at a private hospital here, with her parents alleging she was denied treatment after they failed to cough up Rs 20,000.
The incident took place on June 20 when daily wage labourers Anwer and Mousami, who work at the Saraswati Hospital located on National Highway-9 in Pilkhuwa, rushed their daughter Amreen to the facility.
The child's parents alleged that doctors at the hospital quoted Rs 20,000 as cost of treatment and when they expressed their inability to pay, they were advised to take her to a a government hospital.
The delay in transfer led to the child's death, they claimed.
No immediate reaction was available from the hospital.
Hapur Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Dr. Sunil Tyagi has taken cognisance of the matter, issued a notice and ordered an investigation.
"Investigation instructions have been given in the matter," Dr. Tyagi said.
"Strict action will be taken if found guilty after the report comes," he said.
BJP leader Mohammad Danish has written to Union Health Minister JP Nadda and demanded stringent action against the hospital management.
In his letter, Danish termed the hospital's actions as "inhuman".

He is the proud owner of several successful business ventures, including Neopharma, BRS Ventures, and Finablr, according to reports. was once listed among Forbes' list of the richest men of India and lived in the lap of luxury. In 2019, his net worth reached USD 3 billion. He owned two floors in Burj Khalifa, and the Rolls-Royce collection was enough to evoke envy. So, where did it go wrong? Things started to go downhill when Muddy Waters Research, a USA-based investment firm, brought some serious allegations against him. CM Stalin draws large crowds as he inaugurates Rs 197.81 crore super-speciality hospital in Vellore
VELLORE: On the first day of his two-day visit to Vellore and Tirupattur districts, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Wednesday inaugurated the newly constructed Pentland Government Vellore Super Multi-Speciality Hospital, built at a cost of Rs197.81 crore. The facility, located within the historic Pentland Hospital campus, is expected to significantly enhance tertiary healthcare services in the region. In addition to the flagship hospital, the Chief Minister also inaugurated several public health infrastructure projects across Vellore district, including new buildings for seven Primary Health Centres (PHCs) and two Sub-Health Centres, constructed at a total cost of rS 7 crore. The upgraded PHCs are located in Serkadu (Rs 1.20 crore), Thiruvalam (Rs 1.20 crore), Odugathur (Rs 50 lakh), Usur (Rs 50 lakh), Ponnai (Rs 1.20 crore), Lakshmipuram under the Vellore Corporation (Rs 60 lakh), and Thorappadi (Rs 1.20 crore). Sub-Health Centres in Pernampet and Anicuttu Mahamadupuram were also inaugurated, each built at a cost of Rs 30 lakh. The event was attended by senior ministers including Water Resources Minister Duraimurugan, Public Works Minister E.V. Velu, Handlooms and Textiles Minister R. Gandhi, Health Minister Ma. Tripura CM reiterates a zero-tolerance stand to drug trafficking
Agartala, June 25 (UNI) Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Wednesday reiterated his zero-tolerance stand against drug traffickers as central and state governments took a firm stance against drugs. He said that drug seizures in Tripura have increased by 104% from 2023–24 to 2024–25, while drug destruction has seen a rise of 132%. Police, security forces, and other concerned agencies are actively working against drug trafficking. He urged cross sections of society to unite and fight against the drug menace while addressing a motorcycle rally on the occasion of the International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking as part of Drug-Free India campaign. The United Nations declared this day as International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking in 1987 to prevent drug abuse and raise awareness about illegal drugs. Tripura is geographically surrounded by international borders on three sides and shares boundaries with Assam and Mizoram, which makes the state prone to a drug smuggling network. 'Tripura's children are being targeted, and the state is being used as a corridor to traffic drugs into Bangladesh. Today's slogan—'Say No to Drugs'—is extremely important. Drug traffickers are smuggling drugs for money, and our children are falling prey to it. But it is not their fault. When it comes to Tripura, they become victims. These victims are in dire need of treatment,' he said. Dr Saha added that for this purpose, the state government decided in the last budget to open drug de-addiction centers in all eight districts. About Rs 20 crore has been allocated for each center, and an additional Rs 198 crore has been sanctioned by DoNER to set up a larger drug de-addiction center in Tripura.
