Driver injured after failing to yield to West Coast Express train at Port Moody crossing

West Coast Express' number three train was delayed on Tuesday morning after it struck a pickup truck near Reed Point Marina in Port Moody.
The driver was ejected from the vehicle and was being treated by firefighters when police officers arrived on the scene, said Const. Sam Zacharias, media relations officer for the Port Moody Police Department.

'He sustained serious but not life-threatening injuries,' he said.
The train was stopped for about an hour while first responders were on the scene.
'We're actually assisting CP (Canadian Pacific Railway) police now as it's their jurisdiction,' Zacharias added.
He said the initial investigation suggests that the driver failed to yield to the train barriers and lights at the crossing.
Impairment is not believed to be a factor, Zacharias said.

He was convicted of assaulting four people in 2024, with each of the incidents involving him punching someone in the head. He was sentenced to three years of probation and one day in custody, after credit for time served, in that case. Even Falvo was surprised by that outcome, posting '3 years probation for 4 separate assault charges. I'm lucky I didn't go to jail' on social media. Falvo is due back in Vancouver provincial court on Sept. 29.

Man accused of Silver Heights break-in was unlawfully at large, Winnipeg cops say
A wanted man has been arrested in connection with a Silver Heights break-in early Tuesday morning, Winnipeg police say. Officers were called to the 2300 block of Portage Avenue after a suspect allegedly broke a window and entered a suite around 3:40 a.m. The resident was able to safely escape and call police, who spotted a man fleeing the scene on a bike. While police gave chase, the man abandoned the bike and tried to hide in a vacant lot, where he was taken into custody. Person dead following shooting in Maple Ridge, homicide team called in
The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team was deployed to Maple Ridge, B.C., on Wednesday morning after reports of a shooting. Ridge Meadows RCMP said they received reports around 12:20 a.m. of a shooting near 246 Street and 124 Avenue. Officers found an unresponsive victim with what appeared to be gunshot wounds inside a car in the 24000 block of Dewdney Trunk Road.
