Telangana high court seeks action plans on Kaleshwaram safety

Time of India5 days ago
Hyderabad: The Telangana high court on Tuesday issued key directions to the state govt on three separate public interest litigations concerning public safety, welfare, and infrastructure.
A bench of Chief Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh and Justice GM Mohiuddin directed the state to submit, within two weeks, details of measures being taken to safeguard the Kaleshwaram irrigation project and protect people from potential flood-related disasters during the ongoing monsoon.
The bench was hearing a 2020 PIL filed by Cheruku Sudhakar and another petitioner, initially focused on remedial measures under the Disaster Management Act during the heavy rains and floods of that year.
Counsel Chikkudu Prabhakar recently filed a memo seeking similar safeguards for Kaleshwaram, citing the National Dam Safety Authority's report and earlier court directives. The petitioners expressed concern that low-lying areas downstream face imminent risk.
The case will be reviewed on Aug 28.

Hostel food-poisoning

Hearing a PIL by K Akhil Sriguru Teja, the court was told by counsel Prabhakar that welfare hostels require urgent improvements, including adequate toilets and hygienic, nutritious food. The bench fixed Sept 3 to review the compliance status.
OGH relocation dispute
The high court also asked the state govt to file a detailed report on its decision to relocate Osmania General Hospital (OGH) to Goshamahal Stadium. The petition, filed by local resident G Ramu, contended that the stadium land is reserved for sports and cannot be repurposed.
Counsel argued that GO 45, transferring the land to the medical and health department, was issued without considering public objections.
Advocate general A Sudarshan Reddy informed the court that the transfer process was complete and a nearby govt school had been relocated to accommodate the move. The bench granted one week to file a counter affidavit and posted the matter to Sept 26, directing that the report be submitted before that date.

Those who did not consume fenugreek had over four times the risk of getting diabetes, showing this pantry staple has real potential. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Use an AI Writing Tool That Actually Understands Your Voice Grammarly Install Now Undo Gentle on the stomach Okra contains mucilage, a natural gel-like substance, which will soothe the digestive tract. It helps smooth the skin texture and reduce hair fall. Even if it takes time, gradual water intake with natural nutrients results in slow but perceptible changes over time. Okra and fenugreek: Natural allies against microplastic pollution A research paper dating back to 2024, titled "Polysaccharide-Based Flocculants for Microplastics Removal from Water", published in ACS Omega, demonstrated that okra and fenugreek extracts are capable of removing up to 90% microplastics from both seawater and freshwater.
