Stocks to buy under ₹ 100: After a strong start, the Indian stock market indices extended their early morning gains but soon came under sell-off pressure at higher levels in the second half of Wednesday. However, the key benchmark indices managed to end higher despite losing most of their morning gains. The Nifty 50 index finished 129 points higher at 24,813. The BSE Sensex gained 410 points and closed at 81,596. The Bank Nifty index added 197 points and regained the 55,000 peak.
All the sectors ended the day in green, with realty and pharma top performers. The broader market had a mixed performance, as Midcaps slightly outperformed, whereas Smallcaps underperformed the key benchmark indices.
On the Indian stock market's outlook today, Siddhartha Khemka, Head of Research—Wealth Management at Motilal Oswal, said, "We expect markets to remain firm, supported by healthy domestic macros, decent corporate earnings, and prospects of an above-normal monsoon this year. Institutional buying in broader markets should provide further support."
Speaking on the outlook of the Nifty 50 today, Shiju Kuthupalakkal, Senior Manager of Technical Research at Prabhudas Lilladher, said, "The Nifty 50 index with the overall trend maintained positive witnessed a recovery amid the volatile session from near the 24700 zone to end on a positive note near the 24800 level with anticipation of retesting the 25000 zone in the coming session. The overall bias is maintained strong with the index indicating an ascending channel pattern on the daily chart with crucial support positioned near 24500, while on the upper side, a decisive breach above the 25000 zone shall trigger a fresh upward move in the coming days."
"The Bank Nifty index continues to move within the tight range of 55700 and 54500 zones, close to the 55000 level, with the overall trend maintained positive. As mentioned earlier, we maintain our stance of the crucial support positioned near the 54000 level, which needs to be sustained. At the same time, a decisive breach above the 55800 zone shall trigger a breakout, and thereafter, we expect a fresh rise in the coming days," Shiju Kuthupalakkal said.

Kullu: The teachers' association of Himachal Pradesh Agriculture University, Palampur, has urged chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu to withdraw a special leave petition (SLP) which the state govt recently filed in the Supreme Court. The petition challenges a stay order by the Himachal Pradesh high court on the transfer of 112 hectares of university land to the tourism department. In a letter to the CM, the Himachal Pradesh Agricultural University Teachers' Association (HPAUTA), which has been opposing the land transfer for a proposed tourism village, said this state govt project would jeopardise agricultural education and research in a premium agricultural university. According to the association, govt should withdraw the SLP so that the university's academic, research, and extension work was not affected adversely. Prof Janardan Singh, the secretary of HPAUTA, told TOI that the university land was meant solely for academic and research purposes, not commercial. He said state govt's move to approach the SC also raised several questions about its intent. "Why is the govt in such a hurry to establish a tourism village on the university campus when several hectares of land under various departments of the Himachal Pradesh govt lie unused? The state govt is unnecessarily putting the future of a premium institute of learning at risk," added Prof Singh. Despite protests and stiff opposition from teachers and students, the state govt last year transferred 112 hectares of university land to the tourism department for developing a tourism village. Challenging the state govt's land transfer, HPAUTA approached the Himachal Pradesh high court, which put a stay on the land transfer in August last year. Challenging the stay, state govt filed an SLP in the SC in March this year. Established in 1978, Himachal Pradesh Agriculture University, Palampur, in Kangra district was renamed Chaudhary Sarvan Himachal Pradesh Agriculture University in 2001. The university was awarded 14th rank among the Indian agriculture universities by ICAR in 2019. So far, the university has released 179 improved varieties of different crops for different regions of the state and is the first in the country to establish an advanced centre on nature farming. There are four constituent colleges of the university which impart education to over 2000 students from eight countries and 15 Indian states. If the transfer of the 112 hectares goes through, the university will be left with 277 hectares of land in its Palampur campus. According to teachers, the university will require more land for expansion in near future. "The university land has been squeezed whereas it needs to be expanded and new programmes are required to be started as per the new education policy. There is an urgent need to establish new colleges including the college of agricultural engineering, fisheries, agricultural business management, environmental sciences and more. Instead of providing more land to the university, the state govt is taking away whatever little it has got," said a university teacher, who didn't want to be named. The state govt announced in Nov 2023 to set up a tourism village in Kangra district to promote "local art and culture and to create employment opportunities for the youth".

Old Bangla currency with Bangabandhu Mujib's face becomes souvenir in Bengal
Kolkata: Many in Kolkata with currency notes of Bangladesh that have the image of the country's founding father, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, are saving them as souvenirs. This has been prompted after Bangladesh Bank recently introduced new currency notes of Taka 1,000, Taka 50, and Taka 20. The redesigned notes have images of various nationally important establishments in place of the image of Bangabandhu. The official website of Bangladesh Bank, which is the centralised bank of the nation, clearly mentions: "Bangladesh Bank has the sole authority to issue banknotes in Bangladesh. Bangladesh Bank, like other central banks the world over, changes the design of banknotes from time to time. The Bangladesh Bank has so far issued notes in the denominations of Tk.5, Tk.10, Tk.20, Tk.50, Tk.100, Tk.500, and Tk.1000 in this series. Author Prabal Kumar Basu last went to Dhaka in 2020. "It was just before Covid-19. I have some currencies of Bangladesh that bear Mujib's image. I kept all of those and have no wish to convert them to Indian currency. Since there was no announcement about replacing the old currency with the new, I kept them with me. I want to visit Bangladesh again and hope to use them," Basu said.

Dharwad (Karnataka) [India], June 8 (ANI): Union Minister for Consumer Affairs and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi on Sunday expressed strong confidence that India is on track to transform into a global manufacturing hub, citing the country's supportive environment, abundant resources, and dynamic youth. Speaking at the inauguration of the 3rd Greenfield Unit and Sri Rama Temple built by Hodek Vibration Technologies Private Limited in Belur Industrial Area in Dharwad, Joshi highlighted India's unprecedented growth in manufacturing under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership and its emergence as a self-reliant nation across sectors and its potential to become the world's third-largest producer, surpassing challenges faced in 2014. 'India will transform into a global manufacturing hub in the future, as it has a supportive environment, resources and an empowered youth that is required for the manufacturing sector,' the Union Minister stated. 'Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India is achieving unprecedented growth in the manufacturing sector today. India today is self-reliant in everything from industry, jobs, education, information technology, transport, and electricity. The import situation that existed in 2014 is no longer there. It is developing as the largest exporting country in the world. Until now, China and Vietnam were the only leading producing countries in the world. Now, India has also joined that list and will emerge as the 3rd largest producer,' he added. Joshi noted the global demand for Indian talent, particularly in Germany, as the country leverages its vibrant youth and resources. 'Today, there is a high demand for Indian youth all over the world, including Germany. Due to the shortage of loyal, educationally qualified employees and technicians, foreign countries are turning to India. India has amazing opportunities in every way, including its vibrant and dynamic youth, resources, and environment, and locals should also take advantage of this,' he stated. Abhijit Khanvilkar, Director of Hodek Vibration Technologies Private Limited, highlighted local opportunities, stating, 'Skilled human resources were available in Dharwad, but not enough job opportunities were available. We initially set up a unit in Dharwad, which has grown to three units, creating job opportunities for up to 500 persons.'
