Looking for Tuesday's Wordle hints, clues and answer? You can find them here:
I'm basically out the door, headed on another trip — though a much, much shorter one than my nearly three weeks in Ireland and Scotland this past May. I do miss Scotland quite a bit and am already dreaming up a reason to go back. I'd like to do a full tour of the UK, down to Britain and Wales as well as Ireland and Scotland. Someday!
It's Wordle Wednesday so here's your riddle:
It cannot be seen, cannot be felt,
Cannot be heard, cannot be smelt.
It lies behind stars and under hills,

Today's Wordle
Every day I check Wordle Bot to help analyze my guessing game. You can check your Wordles with Wordle Bot right here.
I started things off poorly despite getting the green 'Y'. Too many words still ended with 'Y' to make a solid guess. I tried all new letters with GLOAM but none turned up yellow or green. NERDY seemed like a good guess, and it was. Only one word remained: NERVY for the win!
Today's Bot
Zero points all around today since the Bot and I guessed in four. Our July totals remain:
Erik: 2 points
Wordle Bot: 6 points
The word "nervy" comes from "nerve" + the adjective-forming suffix "-y." It first appeared in the late 1800s in American English, originally meaning "showing courage or boldness." Over time, it also came to mean "overly bold" or "agitated and anxious," depending on context.

Free padel sessions for kids at Southampton courts this summer
A popular padel operator is offering free sessions for children during the summer holidays. PadelStars is inviting children to play for free at its Southampton courts on Stoneham Lane as part of a new initiative. The scheme is aimed at addressing the rising costs of summer activities and the decrease in children's physical activity, and will run throughout the summer holidays. New research from Coram has revealed parents now spend more than £1,000 per child during the holidays, while only 47 per cent of children achieve the recommended daily activity levels. READ MORE: Celebrities to attend 'summer smash' padel event in Southampton With grandparents increasingly stepping in to help, a quarter of them are reportedly worried about the financial strain. Padel, a sport similar to tennis, has quickly gained popularity, with celebrities such as David Beckham, Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Kate Middleton, and Kendall Jenner among its fans. PadelStars has locations across England and the south coast, including Bournemouth and Reading, with a site earmarked for Winchester too.

Today's Quordle Hints (and Answer) for Saturday, July 26, 2025
If you're looking for the Quordle answer for Saturday, July 26, 2025, read on—I'll share some clues, tips, and strategies, and finally the solution. Beware, there are spoilers below for July 26, Quordle #1279! Keep scrolling if you want some hints (and then the answer) to today's Quordle game. (If you play Wordle, Connections, and Strands, check out our hints for those games, too.) How to play Quordle Quordle lives on the Merriam-Webster website. A new puzzle goes live every day. If you've never played, it's a twist on The New York Times' daily Wordle game, in which you have a limited number of attempts to guess a five-letter mystery word. In Quordle, though, you're simultaneously solving four Wordle-style puzzles, and each of your guesses gets applied to the four puzzles simultaneously. Due to the increased difficulty, Quordle grants you nine guesses (12 if you play on 'Chill' mode, or eight if you play on 'Extreme'), rather than Wordle's six. To start, guess a five-letter word. The letters of the word in each of the four quadrants will turn green if they're correct, yellow if you have the right letter in the wrong place, or gray if the letter isn't in that secret word at all. Ready for the hints? Let's go! Can you give me a hint for today's Quordle? Upper left: Dirty Upper right: Perfectly behaved Lower left: Dirty, another way Lower right: An opposite word Does today's Quordle have any double or repeated letters? Upper left: Yes, a double consonant. Upper right: No. Lower left: Yes, a repeated consonant. Lower right: No. What letters do today's Quordle words start with? Upper left: M Upper right: S Lower left: K Lower right: P What letters do today's Quordle words end with? Upper left: Y Upper right: T Lower left: Y Lower right: R What is the solution to today's Quordle? Upper left: MUDDY Upper right: SAINT Lower left: KINKY Lower right: POLAR How I solved today's Quordle I'll kick it off with SLATE and MOUND. Nice, that gets me two starting letters. I'll try MUDDY for the upper left. Yep. I think SAINT makes the most sense for the upper right. Yep. LOCAL might fit the bottom right. Not quite, but closer. POLAR? There it is. The bottom left only has the vowels I and (sometimes) Y. I'll try KINKY. Nice! The best starter words for Quordle What should you play for that first guess? We can look to Wordle for some general guidelines. The best starters tend to contain common letters, to increase the chances of getting yellow and green squares to guide your guessing. (And if you get all grays when guessing common letters, that's still excellent information to help you rule out possibilities.) There isn't a single 'best' starting word, but The New York Times's Wordle analysis bot has suggested starting with one of these: CRANE TRACE SLANT CRATE CARTE Meanwhile, an MIT analysis found that you'll eliminate the most possibilities in the first round by starting with one of these: SALET REAST TRACE CRATE SLATE Other good picks might be ARISE or ROUND. Words like ADIEU and AUDIO get more vowels in play, but you could argue that it's better to start with an emphasis on consonants, using a starter like RENTS or CLAMP. Choose your strategy, and see how it plays out. Solve the daily Crossword

De bugs? confused me, but I tried INSECTS and it fit, so I rolled with it. ANALOGY fit in 9-Across (Thanks Forrest Gump!) and both CONSENT and SECEDES were pretty obvious. I worked my way back from there and pretty soon had the whole thing wrapped up, ending in PUNCHUP back at the top. This took me 1:48. How did you do? Let me know on Twitter, Instagram or Facebook. If you also play Wordle, I write guides about that as well. You can find those and all my TV guides, reviews and much more here on my blog. Thanks for reading!
