
Lesha Bank 2025 Q1 Net Profit rises by 41% to QAR40.5mln
Lesha Bank LLC (Public) ('Lesha Bank' or the 'Bank') has announced its financial results for the three-month period ended March 31, 2025, reporting a net profit of QAR 40.5 million attributable to the equity holders of the Bank. This reflects a 41% increase compared to the same period last year, primarily driven by its aviation-related investments and strong double-digit growth across most key performance indicators.
As a result of strategic capital deployment across high-yield opportunities the Bank's total assets under management (AUM) grew to QAR 10.7 billion, marking 67% year-on-year increase. In parallel, the Bank's total investments rose by 28%, reaching QAR 3.7 billion compared to the same period last year.
Total Income net of funding cost stood at QAR 71.6 million representing a 17% growth compared to Q1 last year. The Bank's continued profitability led to total equity rising to QAR 1.33 billion, reflecting a 7% increase compared to the same period last year. Book value per share stood at QAR 1.19, while annualized earnings per share (EPS) reached QAR 0.144. Return on Equity and Returns on Assets increased and stood at 12.09% & 2.34% respectively.
The Bank successfully completed several key aviation-related transactions in Q1 2025, including the acquisition of an indirect stake in Edinburgh Airport through an investment in an infrastructure-focused fund. In addition, the Bank strengthened its aviation portfolio with the acquisition of four Airbus A350-1000 aircraft. Notably, Lesha Bank was also recognized among Forbes Middle East's Top 40 Asset Managers for 2025.

Qatar: QSE index achieves 0.52pct gains since start of 2025
Doha: The Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) index ended trading this week in the green, up 0.65 percent, despite yesterday's session's 0.81 percent decline, reaching 10,626 points. Investment manager at Qatar Securities Company (QS) Ramzi Qasmieh told Qatar News Agency (QNA) that the index's gains since the beginning of the year have reached 0.52 percent, with the telecommunications and transportation sectors leading the way with increases of 19.2 percent and 12.7 percent, respectively. He indicated that the decline in the QSE index during today's session was slower than that of neighboring markets, noting that the three sessions following the Eid holiday witnessed an improvement in liquidity, which averaged approximately QR467m, highlighting that foreign portfolios targeted leading stocks. In this context, he pointed out that the market is awaiting the implementation of the FTSE review results next week, which are expected to witness healthy trading. He noted that a number of stocks have reached their highest levels in more than a year. For example, Nakilat's stock reached its highest level in nearly 19 years, while Commercial Bank, Doha Bank, and Medicare are all near their highest prices since the beginning of 2025. Analyzing sector performance this week, Qasmieh noted that the transportation sector recorded gains of 0.22 percent, while the real estate sector witnessed a decline of 1.55 percent. The Qatar Stock Exchange general index closed yesterday's trading lower by 86.85 points, or 0.81 percent, to close at 10,626.50 points. During the session, 205,251,398 shares, valued at QR451,108,161.579, were traded in 24,208 transactions across all sectors. Shares of five companies rose, while 45 companies saw a decline in their share price and three firms maintained their previous closing price. Doha: The Qatar Stock Exchange (QSE) general index closed Tuesday's trading higher by 133.960 points, or 1.280 percent, to close at 10,618.02 points. During the session, 184,242,725 shares, valued at QAR 439,346,781.170, were traded in 22,265 transactions across all sectors. Shares of 42 companies rose, while five companies saw a decline in their share price, and four companies maintained their previous closing price. United Arab Bank launches strategic Rights Issue to raise up to Dhs 1.03 billion
United Arab Bank PJSC (UAB), listed on the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX) announced that it proposes to increase its issued share capital by an amount up to Dhs1,031,275,325 (one billion thirty-one million two hundred seventy-five thousand three hundred twenty-five dirhams) from Dhs2,062,550,649 (two billion sixty-two million five hundred fifty thousand six hundred forty-nine dirhams) up to Dhs3,093,825,974 (three billion ninety-three million eight hundred twenty-five thousand nine hundred seventy-four dirhams) by way of the Rights Issue offered to the existing shareholders of the Bank. Further, United Arab Bank has published an invitation to its shareholders (the "Invitation") to subscribe for New Shares. Frequently asked questions relating to the Rights Issue will be made available on UAB's website ( on or around today's date. The New Shares will be issued at an issue price of Dhs1 per New Share (the "Issue Price"). The terms and launch of the Rights Issue were approved by the UAB's General Assembly Meeting held on 6th March 2025, following the approval of the Board of Directors of the Bank held on 4th February 2025. The necessary regulatory approvals have been obtained for this transaction. United Arab Bank intends to use the net proceeds raised from the Rights Issue to strengthen its capital base and to support future growth of the business of United Arab Bank. The holders of Rights, which includes shareholders of United Arab Bank and any persons who purchased Rights during the Rights Trading Period (the "Eligible Persons"), will be entitled to exercise their Rights to subscribe for New Shares at the Issue Price commencing on 4th July 2025 and ending on 17th July 2025. The New Shares will be allocated to Eligible Persons on 24 July 2025.
