New Zealand crushes Zimbabwe by an innings and 359 runs in record test win
Zimbabwe, trailing by 476 runs, was bowled out for 117 in an extended first session on Day 3 against a rampant four-pronged New Zealand pace attack.
Debutant fast bowler Zakary Foulkes followed his four-wicket haul in the first innings with 5-37 in the second outing and narrowly missed out a 10-wicket haul in his memorable debut test.
Fast bowlers Matt Henry (2-16), Jacob Duffy (2-28) and Matthew Fisher (1-22) were also among the wickets as Zimbabwe was dismissed in 28.1 overs for its lowest total in the series.
No. 3 batter Nick Welch remained unbeaten on 47 off 71 balls and was one of only two Zimbabwe batters to reach double figures along with captain Craig Ervine, who made 17.
New Zealand had earlier declared its first innings at the overnight monumental 601-3 with Rachin Ravindra (165 not out) and Henry Nicholls (150 not out) combining in a blazing 256-run fourth-wicket stand.
New Zealand had won the first test by nine wickets, inside three days, at the same venue last week. The series was not part of the World Test Championship.

Skipton claim rare Aire-Wharfe victory as Steeton win big
SKIPTON have won their third game of the season in Aire-Wharfe League Division Two, becoming the latest side to take advantage of faltering Rodley. Sent in at Canal Bank, the second-from-bottom visitors made 224-7, with skipper Joe Birks (29) putting on 50 for the second wicket with his dad Malcolm (66). Then Rob Walker (40) added 69 for the fourth with Birks Snr and Skipton had something to defend. The visitors then had the handy knack of taking wickets at regular intervals as Rodley were dismissed for 158, Shahid Nadeem making up for his early dismissal by taking 3-20 off 12.1 overs, Finlay Walker backing him up with 4-56. Steeton recorded a very similar first-innings total at home to Pool in the Premier Division, making 228-8 after winning the toss. Tremaine Dowrich (38) and Luke Chapman (64) set off them off on the right foot with a partnership of 64, and James Robinson (32) then put on 57 for the fourth wicket with Chapman, who was sixth out at 177. Skipper Steve Pearson (34no) ensured that the score went beyond 200 and, although Pool's top five all made double figures, they went from 101-2 to 124-6 and were eventually all out for 156. Pearson completed a good day personally with 5-38, Dowrich taking 3-26 as Steeton stayed fifth in a congested upper-mid table.

'Missed out badly': Ricky Ponting and co called out over 'mind-boggling' mistake
South African cricket legend AB de Villiers has questioned why one of the IPL teams - including Ricky Ponting's Punjab Kings - didn't recognise Dewald Brevis' talent and pick him up in the tournament's auction. On Tuesday night, the 22-year-old Brevis made the highest score by a South African in a T20 international, leading the Proteas to a 53-run victory over Australia. Brevis scored 125 not out from just 56 balls, blasting 12 fours and eight sixes. His mammoth score propelled South Africa to an imposing total of 7-218, before Australia made just 165 in response. Brevis reached triple figures in just 41 balls - the second-fastest century by a South African in T20 history. It was his first hundred in international cricket, eclipsing Faf du Plessis' record of 119 for highest score by a South African. His previous high score in T20 internationals was just 41. "I think that's just my natural way of hitting," Brevis said after scoring 96 of his runs in boundaries. "I've hit 1000s of balls, and I just want to go out there, enjoy it and have fun. Yeah, just watch it (the ball). And then if it's there, it happens." AB de Villiers calls out IPL teams' mistake Taking to social media after the game, South African legend de Villiers expressed his shock that Brevis wasn't picked up in the last IPL auction. He was overlooked by every franchise - including the Ponting-coached Punjab Kings - before being signed by Chennai Super Kings as an injury replacement. "There was such a golden opportunity for IPL teams to pick up Dewald Brevis at the auction!," de Villiers wrote on social media. "Missed out badly. CSK either got very lucky, or maybe the biggest master stroke ever. The boy can play." He added: "Mind-boggling that he wasn't picked up at all! To think that he came in as an injury sub." Mind boggling that he wasn't picked up at all! To think that he came in as an injury sub🤷♂️😄 — AB de Villiers (@ABdeVilliers17) August 12, 2025 I bit of both. IPL scouts didn't watch how much he had improved in terms of both technique and his hitting ability after IPL 2024. I still remember Ambani's reaction when Brevis's name was called during this mega auction. — GK (@tactical_guy27) August 12, 2025 Greatest Mysteries of the World:1. Bermuda Triangle2. Pyramids3. How the hell did Dewald Brevis go unsold in IPL 2025 Auction! #Brevis #DewaldBrevis — Vikas Karmani (@vikaskarmani1) August 12, 2025 Dewald Brevis shows IPL franchises what they missed Brevis played six games for Chennai after being picked up late in the tournament, scoring 225 runs at an average of 37.50 with a strike-rate of 180. He previously played 10 games for Mumbai Indians across the 2022 and 2024 tournaments, averaging 23 with a strike-rate in the high 120s. Across his entire T20 career, he's scored 2438 runs with a strike-rate of 154. But it wasn't enough for Ponting or another IPL team to pick him up in the auction. RELATED: Huge boost for Scott Boland as Aussie great snubs Nathan Lyon Stuart Broad's cheeky 'cheat' response after landing Channel 7 gig On Tuesday night in Darwin he unleashed a number of massive hits, dominating a partnership of 126 in 9.3 overs with the subdued Tristan Stubbs. His batting partner only added 31 in 22 balls as the anchorman. Their 100-run stand came up in just 44 balls, with Stubbs only contributing 16. "Just when I reached that century, the most important thing for me it wasn't me. It's all God," he said. "I give it all to him, all the glory, and he blessed me with a talent to play like that. That's the first person I gave all the glory to. It was fun to just be in that moment. It was a special moment." South Africa's win levelled the three-match series at 1-1 and ended Australia's record nine-game winning streak in the format. The deciding match will be played in Cairns on Saturday before a three-match one-day series between the teams in Cairns and Mackay. with AAP
