Coronation Street star quits ITV soap just months after landing the role
Star of Coronation Street, Joe Layton, has reportedly quit the ITV soap just months after joining.
Layton plays Mick Michaelis and joined the soap alongside partner Lou, played by Farrel Hegarty.
Early on in his storyline, it was revealed that Mick had been the man tormenting Chesney Winter-Brown.
Now, reports suggest that Layton will be departing the show with plans from the soap sharing that his role had been planned to be temporary.

Layton first joined Coronation Street for a special storyline which saw no "shock" exit planned, as The Mirror reports that Mick will be on ITV screens until late July, hinting that there is "lots more to come".
Mick and Lou first arrived at Coronation Street with a stir, making friends with Chesney and Gemma.
When he first joined the soap, Joe said: "Coronation Street is such an institute in British television and to get to walk down the cobbles in Mick's shoes is so exciting.
"To also do it alongside Farrel is awesome - we are having great fun together and connecting really well whilst developing our characters.
"It also gives the opportunity to get a look behind the curtain of this huge machine and be a small cog within the big picture of Coronation Street and to work alongside people who take such pride in their work.

The actor had also previously shared how excited he was to play the villain: "I really enjoy playing what people would refer to as a baddie or a villain, because for me the most interesting thing is all how we move past the first initial judgment of them, especially when you're going to be playing them."

In the next episode, titled Landlording, last-minute problems are spotted and sorted as Clarkson and Cooper hang up the pub's sign, signalling that the establishment is open for business. The pub, formerly known as The Windmill, is located in Asthall, near Burford in Oxfordshire, and was reopened by Clarkson on August 23, 2024. In a post to the pub's website, he said that ingredients like quinine in tonic water cannot be grown in Britain but emphasised that they are 'doing all we possibly can to support British farming'. The new series has seen Clarkson dealing with a range of livestock – from a big new bull and a very little pig, to high-tech goats. The programme, which first aired in 2021, brings to light problems which British farmers face and the costs of running a farm. Clarkson has become a vocal supporter of farmers and attended a protest in London against the government's move to introduce inheritance tax on farmland in November 2024.

'Traditional' chippy chain's Bolton store nominated for award
The Bolton branch of a chippy chain has been nominated for an award. Mother Hubbard's on St Helens Road is one of the 10 finalists for the Bolton News Best Chippy Award. Bolton News readers have been nominating their favourite fish and chip shops in the borough. The "traditional" chain has been serving up its hearty food since 1972, when it was founded on Ingleby Road in Bradford. It was opened on May 3 of that year by Coronation Street favourites, Stan & Hilda Ogden, played by Bernard Youens and Jean Alexander. At that time, fish and chips were served at just 45p per portion. Mother Hubbard's in Bolton Since then it has grown to run multiple shops across the country, including its St Helens Road store, which was opened in 2021. On its opening day, people queued up for the 1972 prices, getting fish and chips at a staggering 45p.
