Man Utd transfer on brink of collapse after hint on future and strict demands

Daily Mirror5 hours ago

Manchester United have been keen to add a new striker to their squad this summer but their chances of recruiting a new forward have been hit with a major blow over recent days
Rasmus Hojlund looks set to stay at Manchester United with clubs struggling to meet the Red Devils' demands. The Danish forward was linked with a move away from Old Trafford after an awful season.
Hojlund scored just four Premier League goals for United last term, leading to suggestions that the former Atalanta striker could return to Italy. Inter Milan were among the sides linked with him, while Juventus and Napoli were also credited with interest.

But it appears that a move to Serie A is no longer an option according to reports. According to suggestions in Italy, United's demands of a permanent Deal have made a move very difficult.

It is reported that United want to receive around £40m for the 22-year-old, a deal that the Italian sides would struggle to put together. They would only be able to sign him on loan as it stands.
Hojlund has recently spoken out on his future at Old Trafford and confirmed that he was looking to stay with the club. He said: 'I have a contract until 2030, so I expect to play for Manchester United. I'm looking forward to going on a summer vacation, and then I'm fully dedicated to the project that's underway.
"I know I can't get much out of reading things. I know what the facts are, and that is that I have a contract with Manchester United until 2030. I expect to play there, so I'm just getting ready for some summer vacation and then hopefully a good pre-season."
In all, Hojlund has made 95 appearances for United since his £72m move from Atalanta. In that time, he has scored just 26 goals. Former Red Devils star Phil Jones has suggested that a move away from the club might be best for his career.
He said: "It's a difficult one, I feel really sorry for him (Hojlund). It's obviously been a difficult season for him, but I always find it's difficult for a No. 9 in a difficult season.

"He's probably not getting the chances, you know, the seven, eight chances a game. He's feeding off one or two that might come into him in the 70th minute, and he's got to produce.
"It hasn't quite happened for him yet. It's been difficult for him, but I think if he were to move on, he would probably benefit from that. A bit like Marcus (Rashford), it's a fresh start for him.
"It's a difficult one for Rasmus Hojlund. What I would say is, I think that Man United will be looking for another No. 9. Maybe that would take a bit of the pressure off him as well if he can manage his minutes between the two No. 9s."

Tottenham close in on appointing Thomas Frank as new head coach

Tottenham are closing in on making Brentford boss Thomas Frank their next head coach. Spurs sacked Ange Postecoglou on Friday, despite Europa League success, and quickly set their sights on Frank – who has gained admirers for his work over an impressive seven-year period at the west London club. According to the PA news agency, after positive discussions over the weekend, there is a growing confidence that Frank will be the man to replace Postecoglou. Frank's current deal at Brentford runs until the summer of 2027 and contains a release clause reported to be in the region of £10million. Brentford are expected to hold out for Frank's release clause but, while an official approach from Tottenham is yet to occur, the Danish coach is expected to make the move across London. The 51-year-old would take over a Spurs side which won the Europa League last month but finished 17th in the Premier League. Poor domestic form during the 2024-25 season accounted for Postecoglou's job as the Spurs board were forced to make 'one of the toughest decisions' they have had to make in dismissing the head coach who ended a 17-year trophy drought. 'It is crucial that we are able to compete on multiple fronts and believe a change of approach will give us the strongest chance for the coming season and beyond,' a club statement on Friday read. PA understands Tottenham have also relieved coaches Mile Jedinak, Nick Montgomery and Sergio Raimundo of their duties. Ryan Mason left his role as Spurs first-team coach last week to take over as West Brom boss, which opens the door for Frank to bring in some of his own staff. Another departure from Spurs this summer will be Scott Munn, who was made chief football officer at the club in 2023, PA understands. Spurs technical director Johan Lange has remained in post and is set to renew allegiances with compatriot Frank. Frank and Lange worked together at Danish club Lyngby before they both made their mark in the Premier League. Lange attempted to bring Frank to Aston Villa in 2022 when he worked at the Midlands outfit. Former Brondby boss Frank has developed a strong reputation in English football since he took over Brentford, with his tactical nous and man-management skills often lauded by rival managers and pundits. After Frank guided Brentford to promotion in 2021, he quickly enabled them to compete strongly in the Premier League despite a modest budget and has continued to be linked to a number of high-profile vacancies in recent years.

Spurs urged to sign Arsenal and Chelsea transfer target to replace Son Heung-min

Jamie O'Hara has urged Tottenham to sign Arsenal and Chelsea transfer target Leroy Sane to replace Son Heung-min in the summer window. The Bayern Munich winger becomes a free agent at the end of the month with Spurs, Arsenal and Chelsea all interested in a deal for the 29-year-old. Tottenham are said to be 'confident' of winning the race for Sane, who has reportedly already moved to London with his wife ahead of a move. Former Spurs star O'Hara feels Sane would be an ideal replacement for Son, who looks set for an exit before the start of the new 2025-26 season. 'I'd love Leroy Sane to sign for Spurs,' O'Hara told Grosvenor Sport about the Germany international, who previously played for Manchester City. 'He's a world class player who has won everything. Why would you not want him at your football club? 'He might've picked up a few injuries in his career, but you can't tell me he wouldn't be a great signing for Spurs – even if he demands up to £250,000 a week. 'There's so many areas where Tottenham need to improve. I'd say the highest priority position for Spurs is a left-winger. 'I don't think Son Heung-min can affect a game like he used to; I think he's on his way out and I'd let him go. 'The backup players to that position aren't great either. Wilson Odobert hasn't been too convincing from what I've seen of him so far. 'Spurs will be playing Champions League football next season, which gives them a huge opportunity to spend money, recruit well and stay in the Champions League. 'They've somehow clinched European football after finishing 17th in the league – Daniel Levy has to capitalise on this chance.' It has been reported that Spurs wish to generate transfer funds and reshape their squad, which is why Son has been put up for sale. Son, who can operate as a left winger or centre-forward, is wanted by several teams from Saudi Arabia. More Trending The 32-year-old only has one year left on his deal and Spurs would rather sell him now and generate a fee than lose him as a free agent in 2026. Should Son be replaced by Sane, Spurs would be getting a player who landed two Premier League trophies under Pep Guardiola at City. Sane also won the FA Cup with City and helped the club clinch three Carabao Cup titles. He has spent the last two seasons playing with former Tottenham stars Harry Kane and Eric Dier at Bayern.
