In September 2023, three unnamed players were arrested at Real Madrid's training centre following a complaint lodged by the mother of the 16-year-old girl who appears in the video.
Real Madrid defender Raul Asencio has been indicted along with three former youth players at the club for alleged distribution of a sexual video involving a minor, Spanish media reported.
The judge at the San Bartolome de Tirajana court in Gran Canaria is prosecuting 'four footballers" for their alleged involvement in 'the recording or non-consensual dissemination of videos of a sexual nature involving a minor and another young girl", aged 16 and 18 respectively at the time, as per reports from AFP and The Athletic.
The judge did not mention Asencio by name, nor specify which player is accused of which misdemeanour.
But, the alleged crimes include the following: discovery of secrets without consent and violation of privacy, distribution and sending of videos to third parties without warning or consent to the injured parties, recruitment or use of minors for pornographic purposes, and possession of child pornography.
In September 2023, three unnamed players were arrested at Real Madrid's training centre following a complaint lodged by the mother of the 16-year-old girl who appears in the video.
The alleged incident took place at a beach club in the southern part of the island. While Ruiz, Rodríguez, and García were arrested in September of that year, Asencio initially gave testimony as a witness. He was later named as a suspect after further investigation by Spain's Civil Guard.
Incidentally, the quartet was arrested in September 2023, and police seized their mobile phones.
Back then, Madrid said that 'a Castilla player and three Real Madrid C players' made statements to the Guardia Civil 'relating to a complaint about the alleged broadcasting of a private video via WhatsApp'.
The club added: 'When the club has detailed knowledge of the facts, we will take the appropriate measures."
Moving forward, it has been suggested that the case will now be dealt with by the Public Prosecutor's Office.
Asencio, 22, has established himself as a first-team regular in his breakthrough season at Madrid.
Fans at various stadiums around Spain have jeered Asencio, with some Barcelona fans chanting 'Asencio, to jail" during the Clasico on Sunday.
Real Madrid's Copa del Rey semi-final win at Real Sociedad in February was briefly paused by the referee after home fans chanted 'Asencio die".

Germany reassesses World Cup prospects after being taught lessons by France and Portugal

BERLIN — Two defeats and last place in a mini-tournament it expected to win have dealt Germany a cold dose of reality ahead of the 2026 World Cup. The Nations League final four in Germany was supposed to show Julian Nagelsmann's team can count itself among Europe's best, but a 2-1 loss to Portugal in Munich followed by a 2-0 defeat to France in Stuttgart instead revealed a gulf in class. It showed that tournament-winner Portugal, beaten finalist Spain – the European champion – and a talent-packed France team are among the favorites with defending champion Argentina to win soccer's biggest prize next year. Nagelsmann was keen to highlight the positives, noting that Germany dominated and created a host of chances in the first half against France on Sunday – but counterpart Didier Deschamps had already said what little importance he gave the third-place decider, and it was clear which side was more motivated in front of the Stuttgart fans. Kylian Mbappé scored before the break and set up Michael Olise for the second goal as Les Bleus shook off their apathy in the second half and might have scored more. 'If you look at the first half, honestly, they were not bothered about winning. But they still won,' Germany captain Joshua Kimmich said. Germany's forwards were simply not as clinical as France's. It was a similar tale against Portugal, which rallied to beat Germany on Wednesday. Portugal coach Roberto Martínez changed the game when he introduced substitutes Vitinha, Francisco Conceição and Nelson Semedo in the second half, and Germany needed goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen at his best to stop the visitors scoring any more. Coach Nagelsmann pointed to the injury-enforced absences from his team – Jamal Musiala, Angelo Stiller, Kai Havertz, Antonio Rüdiger, Nico Schlotterbeck, Tim Kleindienst, Jonathan Burkardt and Yann Aurel Bisseck. But France was also without key players like Ousmane Dembélé and Eduardo Camavinga while Deschamps had to do without three of his preferred four-man backline – William Saliba, Dayot Upamecano and Jules Koundé. Even with a full-strength squad, it's debatable whether Germany can match its rivals' strength in depth when it comes to player development and the quality of youngsters coming through. Nine players in Spain coach Luis de la Fuente's Nations League squad are young enough to play at the Under-21 European Championship starting Wednesday in Slovakia. Star player Lamine Yamal is just 17 while Real Madrid's new signing Dean Huijsen looked like he'd been playing for Spain for years. The final was just his fourth appearance. 'It's quite clear, when it comes to the depth of the squad, that we have to abandon the illusion of getting it sorted out in a year,' Nagelsmann said. 'We have a few positions in German soccer that are given too little attention.' Nagelsmann pointed to Spain's use of wide players in attack – like Yamal or Nico Williams – and said Germany's dearth of wing backs had been a problem for years. Kimmich has been deployed at right back when his favored position is in midfield. 'Right now we're looking at what's important to see where we are in the world, what we need for the future, and to learn the right lessons from that,' Nagelsmann said. 'It would be nice if we could get one or two of the players up to speed by next year, but of course that's a limited window of opportunity.' The 37-year-old Nagelsmann appealed for patience from journalists, saying he was sure with the players he has that they 'will play a very, very good qualifying campaign and a very, very good tournament' in the United States, Mexico and Canada next summer. Nagelsmann then attempted to push some of the responsibility onto the media. 'You have to have a bit of trust and pull the handbrake a bit,' he said. 'You're in the same boat.' soccer: /hub/soccer

IND vs ENG: 'Don't be surprised if ... ' - Ex-England captain makes big statement on Shubman Gill after Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli retirements

Shubman Gill (AFP Photo) NEW DELHI: Former England captain Michael Vaughan believes that naming 25-year-old Shubman Gill as India's new Test captain is a 'bold move' following the sudden retirements of stalwarts Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli from red-ball cricket. Gill will lead India in their first assignment of the World Test Championship (WTC) 2025-27 cycle — a five-match series against England beginning June 20 in Leeds. Wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant has been named vice-captain. With Rohit and Kohli stepping away from the longest format, the responsibility of anchoring India's batting line-up now falls on the shoulders of Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal , KL Rahul, and Pant. 'Well, it's official - Shubman Gill is the new face of Indian Test cricket, stepping up as captain for the England series. It's a bold move, trusting a young leader with a new-look team after the retirements of giants like Rohit and Kohli. Gill's got plenty to prove, especially away from home, but he's shown he's got the temperament for big moments," said Vaughan, who is part of Sony Sports Network's start-studded panel and commentators for the series. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Вот что поза во сне говорит о вашем характере! Cristiano Ronaldo defends Lamine Yamal after Nations League win: Leave him alone

Cristiano Ronaldo came to the defence of Lamine Yamal after Portugal defeated Spain in the UEFA Nations League final on Sunday, June 8. Ronaldo scored the equaliser in the final as Portugal pushed the European champions into a penalty shootout, where they beat them 5-3 after the game ended 2-2 in normal time. While Ronaldo had a great game, the same couldn't be said about Yamal, who struggled to find a cutting edge. The Portuguese superstar, who praised Yamal before the final, once again jumped to the defence of the young sensation. Speaking after the game, Ronaldo said that Yamal is going to win a lot of accolades going forward, both individually and for his teams. advertisementRonaldo went on to say that Yamal has a lot of scope for improvement, and he is a phenomenon who should be left alone. The Portuguese superstar feels that the Spanish youngster has a big career ahead of him and will win the Nations League multiple times in the future. "He's going to win a lot of titles, both collective and individual. He's only 17 years old... I repeat: he's a kid with a lot of room for improvement. He's a phenomenon, but we have to leave him alone, that's what I ask. He has a very long career ahead of him and will surely win the Nations League many times," said Ronaldo. Ronaldo also defended Luis de la Fuente and his decision to take of Yamal in the second half of extra time. The Portugal skipper said that De la Fuente knows what is best for the team and he made the call thinking it will help the side. "Your coach is a phenomenon. He knows better than I do—I'm not a coach—what the team needs. He's already won several titles with Spain. What more do you want me to say? If the coach made the decision, it was because he thought it was the best thing to improve his team," said Ronaldo.
