The Los Angeles Dodgers faced off against the St. Louis Cardinals at Busch Stadium today, and starter Clayton Kershaw was on the mound for the reigning World Series champions.

Kershaw entered the game positioned 21st on the MLB's all-time strikeout list. He needed just three strikeouts to tie Zack Greinke's total of 2,978 and four to move past him.
Kershaw allowed six hits and just one earned run over five innings on Sunday afternoon, striking out seven.
The 2014 National League MVP passed Greinke on the all-time strikeout list in the bottom of the third inning, striking out Cardinals left fielder Lars Nootbaar, who came into the afternoon batting .247 this season.
Shortly after Kershaw moved past Greinke, the Dodgers took to social media to react, simply reposting the news with no words.

Kershaw, who was drafted seventh overall by the Dodgers in the first round of the 2006 MLB Draft, is now in his 18th major league season. Entering today's start, he had a 0–0 record with a 5.17 ERA, eight strikeouts and a 1.66 WHIP across four appearances in 2025.

Kershaw is a 10-time All-Star, a three-time National League Cy Young Award winner and holds one NL MVP award won in 2014. He led the league in ERA five times, wins three times and strikeouts three times. He also threw a no-hitter in 2014 and helped the Dodgers win the World Series in 2020.
With Sunday's achievement, the Dodgers pitcher now sets his sights on reaching 3,000 strikeouts as he looks ahead to the next milestone in his career.

(AP) — Jake Brown hit a home run and had four RBIs, Steven Milam had two doubles and also drove in four runs and LSU beat West Virginia 12-5 on Sunday night to sweep the best-of-three Baton Rouge Super Regional. No. 6 seed LSU (48-15) clinched the program's 20th berth in the College World Series, where the Tigers will try to win their eighth national championship — all since 1991, the most recent in 2023. Derek Curiel led off the game with a double and scored to make it 1-0 when Brown reached on a fielder's choice in the first inning and the Tigers led the rest of the way. Anthony Eyanson (11-2) gave up four runs on five hits with three walks and seven strikeouts in five innings. Chris Stanfield, Curiel and Ethan Frey each drew a two-out walk to load the bases before Milam cleared the bases with a double off starter Jack Kartsonas (6-4) to spark a five-run second that made it 6-0.
