Married At First Sight star Dave Hand shares heartbreaking news: 'It's taken a toll'
Married At First Sight star Dave Hand has given a heartbreaking update about his father Howard's health.
The reality groom, 36, shared his father's cancer journey with viewers during his homestay visit with TV bride Jamie Marinos.
Despite revealing at the time that his father had 'turned a corner', Dave admitted to The Mirror this week that Howard's cancer had returned.
'The tumours my dad had on the show that had previously shrunk – they've come back pretty quickly,' Dave told the publication.
Dave added that Howard was currently taking part in a clinical trial in an effort to beat the disease.

'He's on a trial now. Only 200 people in the world are doing it,' Dave explained.
'My dad's response for doing it is, "If I can help somebody out, I'm going to give this trial a crack and help the future."
'He's been fighting it for five years and now it's taken a toll on him.
'He's a bit frail and now he's got to go into battle again.'
MAFS fans were introduced to Howard and Dave's stepmother Karen during a homestay visit with Jamie.
It was an emotional reunion for Dave, who hadn't seen his father since before his reality TV wedding.
Dave revealed that the reason Howard missed out on the nuptials was that he was undergoing chemotherapy.
The groom was then shown on his wedding day sitting alone and FaceTiming with Karen and Howard.
'I wish my dad was well enough to come to the wedding,' he said.
'He'd just started chemo for the fourth time.'
Dave also admitted that his father's cancer battle had taken a personal toll over the last four years.
'Seeing dad over the last four years, it sort of does take a lot out of me,' he said.
'You take it all on board.
'So, this visit hopefully is a bit different. I got some news about him yesterday but I haven't spoken to him yet, so it'll be good to see him.'
After a happy introduction, the family sat down at the table to hear Howard deliver his news.
'There were three tumours, two tumours have shrunk and the third tumour has gone,' Howard revealed.'
'Another four doses should hopefully clean it up. Something's finally working.'
Dave said at the time he was over the moon with the good news.
'I'm so glad that my dad's turned the corner – he's been on my mind since day one,' he said.
'Seeing him with a bit more pep in his step, I'm super, super happy. I'm a bit emotional but happy.'
Speaking exclusively to Daily Mail Australia in April, Dave revealed his emotional outbursts on the series were due to his heartbreak over his father's cancer battle, but claimed much of the explanation was 'cut out' and as a result he was left looking like a terrible husband and 'horrible person'.
'[My Dad] took a turn and I was really struggling with that, but they completely cut that out of the edit so it looks like I did a total backflip on Jamie, but I was communicating my feelings about my dad,' he explained.
He went on to say he cried while explaining the situation on the couch with the experts, and told them he was 'struggling' with the experiment due to him being so preoccupied with his father's illness.
'Watching that back on screen and seeing how they edited it was really difficult for me, because everyone in the experiment knew how much I was struggling, my friends and family knew, but it didn't come across that way at all, it was just like "he's a terrible person."'
Dave admitted he had 'no idea' why the footage was cut, but blamed it on the tough realities of showbiz and said all he could do now was 'move on'.
'I know how I handled myself in there was the best I could have in that capacity,' he said.
'If I had to go back there it was a really scary place to be, because I knew I was struggling and I turned up to be the partner Jamie needed but, in the edit, it looks like I did a huge backflip.'

Love Island fans spot ‘secret new couple' after a sexy performance in the heart rate challenge
LOVE Island viewers are going wild over a hot new connection between two contestants. The infamous heart rate challenge once again returned to the Love Island villa - and some brand new chemistry was undeniable. 6 6 The Islanders turned up the heat in the villa by stripping off and performing provocative moves in a bid to excite the opposite sex. During the task, one couple's chemistry couldn't be ignored by fans. Ben Holbrough was most stirred by international business graduate Alima Gagigo. While Alima's heart rate was raised the most by Harrison, viewers have clocked her attraction with model Ben. The ITV2 dating show saw the Islanders suck fingers, strip off and even spank each other in the saucy challenge. The official Love Island social media channel teased: "Let's just say some hearts were racing in very unexpected directions…" Eagle-eyed viewers have noted the pair having secret chats around the pool - and can't ignore the promising signs. One fan noted: "Alima and Ben could be cute." A second noted: "Alima and Ben seem to have a thing which hasn't been shown until tonight." A third suggested: "Alima and Ben anyone?" "There is actually a vibe between Ben and Alima, saw them in a lot of background shots chatting. They have good chemistry. Ngl [not gonna lie] don't hate it," observed a fourth. "Low key like the idea of Ben and Alima but I know she won't stand for his behaviour," wrote a fifth. "You're going to hate me for this but I'm full support of Ben and Alima, there's something there and it's not forced," another fan confirmed. "Ben and Alima, I just want to see something," begged another viewer. "Alima and Ben seem to have a thing," concurred another. "Ben and Alima would make a great match," one fan predicted. Events in the Majorcan villa got even more wild as a BDSM-clad Dejon spanked Emily Moran as she leant on her chair. Arguably, Helena Ford was the contestant who shocked the islanders the most by whispering something X-rated into Harry's ear. She left the boys reeling when she made a beeline for the footballer. Kneeling on the floor, she suggestively sucked his finger as the boys watched on. The contestant straddled his lap as she whispered into his ear: "I can't wait to f*** you." Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2. 6 6 6 6

Lions star Blair Kinghorn lifts the lid on a whirlwind 48 hours as he celebrates Toulouse's Top 14 title triumph in Paris, before flying to Australia the next day - as he reveals his favourite position too
On the sidelines of Lions training in eastern Brisbane, Blair Kinghorn pedalled away by himself on an exercise bike. The Scottish full-back had a night of Parisian celebrations to flush out of his legs. Having won the Top 14 title with Toulouse on Saturday evening, he danced away in his speedos, partying until the early hours of Sunday morning. 'We got back to the hotel just before three,' he revealed. 'Then we had a party in the hotel with all the families, friends and some sponsors, which was really good. And then I was heading to the airport in Paris about midday. 'My bag was already packed. We came up to Paris for the final on Thursday, so I had to make sure all my s*** was ready before going up on Thursday. Now the Scottish star's attention is with the Lions having arrived in Australia on Monday night 'Luckily, my mum and my wife were there to help me take everything up, because packing for two separate things is a bit stressful. I think I've got everything. All you need is your boots and your passport, so that's fine!' A driver was waiting for Kinghorn at Brisbane Airport on Monday evening, shuttling him straight to the team hotel in the city. Lights were out by the time he arrived, meaning he gave captain Maro Itoje a fright when he bundled into their twin room just before midnight. 'I got in about quarter to 12,' said Kinghorn. 'I was thinking, "Surely there won't be anyone in the room". I was with Maro. I go in, chuck the bags down and up he pops. I was like "Uh, sorry". He'd been sleeping and I woke him up. It was funny, he woke up, shook my hand and went straight back to sleep.' Kinghorn's arrival will provide the Lions with a timely boost. Elliot Daly delivered a classy, influential performance from full-back against the Western Force, although the versatile Englishman is more likely to cover a range of positions from the bench. Kinghorn has been playing on the wing for Toulouse, although he is favourite to wear the Lions' No 15 jersey when the Tests come around, having developed into the complete player since he moved to France in 2023. Kinghorn's favourite position is full-back like at Scotland, but he plays on the wing at Toulouse His 6ft 4in frame makes him an authoritative presence in the backfield but he must quickly get up to scratch with the playbook, ahead a likely debut against the Waratahs on Saturday. 'Internationally, I have played the majority of my rugby at full-back,' he said. 'So I'd still say that's probably my best position. 'At club level, it is different. We have positions but we don't really have positions. Everything's interchangeable. The rugby over there is not as structured so it is kind of floating around. Wingers are the same as full-back in most instances; whereas internationally it is a little a bit different. 'I tried to keep thoughts about the Lions at the back of my head, just because I wanted to stay present in the moment and finish the season really strongly with Toulouse. All the coaches understand how intense it is to be in the knockout stages of your league competition, so they all know that overloading information then is not going to help anyone. 'The next couple of days will be the big days for me to learn everything and catch up where the boys are at, but hopefully I'll catch up pretty quickly. Now I can kind of turn my full attention to this, it's really exciting.' Back at Toulouse, Kinghorn revealed that his French club-mates Thomas Ramos and Josh Brennan had shown a particularly keen interest in the Lions concept. Lions tours in France have been mooted as an option for future years, although a one-off fixture would be more likely, as administrators are reluctant to break with tradition. A warm-up fixture against France in Paris could be a spectacular curtain-raiser and Kinghorn believes the Lions would be a hit with the rugby-mad public. 'There would be no jetlag for starters!' he joked. 'It would be pretty cool. I don't know how happy the French clubs would be though because the Top 14 season is so gruelling and so long. But they (the public) would love it. It would be awesome.' For now, all focus is on Australia, with Kinghorn likely to emerge as one of the key figures.

Reality TV stars Todd and Julie Chrisley defiant after Trump pardons
A reality TV star who was imprisoned for defrauding banks of tens of millions of dollars before being pardoned in May by Donald Trump says there is nothing for him to be sorry about. 'I don't have an apology to give you or anyone else over the money that I've made,' Todd Chrisley said in an interview with ABC News that was posted online Monday. Speaking to the network alongside his wife, Julie, who was also imprisoned and then pardoned by the president, Chrisley's comments were some of his most extensive comments yet about his and his spouse's abbreviated experiences behind bars. He joked that his first post-pardon shower back home was as exciting as his 'first sexual encounter'. And, as his family begins planning to return to television with a new reality show on Lifetime, he said 'it doesn't matter what someone else's opinion' of him is. 'No one's opinion of me has ever caused me to question who I am at the core,' the former co-star of Chrisley Knows Best said to ABC News. 'So I don't worry about someone else's opinion.' Chrisley Knows Best aired on USA Network from 2014 to 2023, depicting Todd as a wealthy real estate developer and entrepreneur who was raising a family with Julie in their suburban Atlanta mansion. But in 2019, during Trump's first presidency, the federal government charged the Chrisleys with tax evasion and bank fraud. Jurors in 2022 convicted the couple of defrauding banks of at least $30m, leaving Todd to be sentenced to 12 years in prison and Julie to seven years. The couple's daughter Savannah Chrisley was a vocal Trump advocate as he successfully ran for a second presidency in November 2024. Trump then pardoned Todd and Julie on 27 May, a little more than four months after he was sworn back into the Oval Office. Trump personally called Savannah to inform her of her parents' pardons, according to a White House video. The Chrisleys' pardons freed them from prison after serving less than three years. Their pardons came amid a series of clemencies that Trump gave to supporters in what evidently was a broader rebuke against a justice system that had convicted him of criminally falsifying business records months before he retook the White House. Some particularly criticized the Chrisleys' pardons because an appeals court had upheld their jury convictions. Nonetheless, as ABC News noted, Todd argued that the makeup of the couple's jury was questionable and the president was right to pardon him and Julie. Julie recounted to the network that she had made some everlasting friendships while incarcerated. 'I have met some amazing women … that I will be friends with till the day that I die,' she told ABC. Yet, unsurprisingly, Todd said he and his wife were relieved to be out of prison early as they weigh whether to move to South Carolina and film themselves converting a mansion into a hotel. 'You don't realize how much your freedom means to you until you don't have it,' he remarked.
