Aamir Khan trolled for calling Shah Rukh Khan's Swades boring; angry netizens ask ‘Kyunki script original thi?'
In his glorious acting career which spans over three decades, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has won hearts time and again with his magical aura, his impactful acting chops and his on-point expressions. But some masterpieces stand out because of the immense passion that we witnessed onscreen. One such iconic milestone in his filmography was Swades (2004), produced and directed by Ashutosh Gowariker. Not only did the film emerge to be a cult classic but till date, it is considered one of SRK's finest performances. He was phenomenal as Mohan Bhargav. So when Aamir Khan revealed that he declined the film because he found the script of Swades boring, it obviously left netizens divided.
In a recent chat with Zoom, while promoting his upcoming film Sitaare Zameen Par, Aamir Khan revealed why he didn't reunite with Ashutosh Gowariker for Swades after working with him in Lagaan (2001). Aamir shared, 'Why I said no to Swades? Mujhe bohot boring lagi thi.' The actor revealed that Ashutosh already told him the story of Swades, which was titled 'Kaveri Amma' at the time, when they were shooting for Lagaan and Aamir liked it. But after completing Lagaan when he heard the 3 hour narration of Swades, Aamir told Ashutosh that he found it boring. The actor felt that the thought behind the film was noble but the way it was told was boring. Aamir went on to share, 'Actually maine abhi tak film dekhi nahi hai, Swades. Toh shayad usne correct kiya hoga, achhi bani hogi, I don't know. Aur logo ko Shah Rukh ka kaam khaas pasand aaya tha usme, maine yeh note kiya tha.'
Aamir's statement left many fans — who truly enjoyed Swades — irked. This resulted in massive trolling, with some accusing Aamir of being bitter and others taking a dig at him for making remakes. For instance, a social media user stated, 'I have watched swades 3-4 times on tv. Every independence day they used to telecast it. One of the best movie of srk. Hit movie kahi se copied hoti toh mamu kar lete,' whereas another asked, 'Kyunki script original thi?' A comment read, 'Isko oscar worthy film banani hai. Aur phir LSC, Ghajini aur Dhoom jaisi remake banata hai. Swadesh was one oscar worthy film, even more so than Lagaan anyday,' whereas another netizen claimed, 'He was a bitter person, he is a bitter person, he will be a bitter person. And apparently, Thugs, Dhoom 3, Mela, Mann, Mangal Pandey, Dhobi Ghaat, Baazi, Love Love Love, Tum Mere Ho, Talaash are all movies that were more entertaining.'
However, there were also some netizens who came out in Aamir's support. One such comment read, 'for those stans getting offended that he hurt their feelings by putting down their idol.. please watch the full interview. He said when script was narrated to him he told ashoutosh gowariker that he found script very boring. He has very good subject/story in hand but needs to work on the script.. nothing against srk at all..'

Aamir Khan says he refused Dangal's Pakistan release over demands to remove Indian flag, national anthem
Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan's Dangal is the highest-grossing Indian film, having earned ₹2,000 crore at the global box office. A significant portion of the film's earnings came from its release in China. During his appearance on Rajat Sharma's Aap Ki Adalat, Aamir revealed that he had rejected the film's release in Pakistan after their censor board demanded the removal of the Indian flag and national anthem. (Also Read: Aamir Khan says it is his 'dream to make Mahabharat', wonders if he'll 'have a role in it to play') Aamir explained that, historically, the censor board restricted filmmakers from directly referring to certain countries. They were instructed to use terms like 'neighbouring country' instead. He pointed out that his film Sarfarosh was the first Indian film to openly mention both Pakistan and ISIS. Despite initial concerns from director John Mathew Matthan that the censor board would reject it, Aamir was confident they could justify the inclusion. He further addressed why Dangal was not released in Pakistan and said, "After Sarfarosh, I got a lot of negative comments from Pakistan about what we were showing about them. When Dangal came into theatres, Disney was one of the producers, and they presented the film. They said that we have got a reaction from Pakistan's censor board and they have asked us, 'Geeta Phogat ke jeetne par jo tiranga upar jaata hai aur humara rashtra gaan bajta hai, toh aap yeh dono nikal dijiye or we'll not pass the film' (remove the Indian tricolour and national anthem that comes after Geeta Phogat's win or we'll not pass the film)." Aamir added, "So I told Disney in just one second that our film will not release in Pakistan. So they said, our business will be affected, and we will suffer a loss. I said, Jo humse kahega humara Indian flag nikal do aur humara national anthem nikal do, unse mujhe matlab hi nahi hai (Anyone who tells us to remove our Indian flag and national anthem — I have nothing to do with them). I don't want that business." The biographical sports drama, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, featured Aamir as Mahavir Singh Phogat, an amateur wrestler who trains his daughters Geeta Phogat and Babita Kumari Phogat to become India's first world-class female wrestlers. Fatima Sana Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra portrayed the adult versions of the Phogat sisters, while Zaira Wasim and Suhani Bhatnagar played their younger versions. Sakshi Tanwar played their mother. The film collected ₹387 crore in India and ₹2,070.3 crore worldwide at the box office. Meanwhile, Aamir is now gearing up for the release of his upcoming film Sitaare Zameen Par, a spiritual sequel to his 2007 hit Taare Zameen Par. The film also stars Genelia D'Souza in the lead role and is scheduled to release in theatres on 21 June.

Yuzvendra Chahal and Dhanashree Verma first connected in mid-2020 during online dance classes that quickly turned into a real-life relationship. They announced their engagement on August 8, 2020, to an outpouring of social-media support and tied the knot in a lavish December 22, 2020 ceremony in Gurgaon. Though they presented a united front—attending cricket matches and posting choreographed reels—their private disagreements began to surface behind the scenes. Keep reading to find out more. Lockdown love takes flight When Chahal chose to join Dhanashree's Zoom dance sessions, neither could have predicted the depth of their relationship. By August 2020, the couple's engagement photo went viral almost instantly. December of that year, the couple tied the knot in a traditional wedding ceremony in Gurgaon, becoming one of India's most followed duos on social media. Fans embraced #YuziKiDhanashree as Instagram's top power couple through 2021. Diverging paths over home and career By mid-2022, reports suggest the couple had begun living separately, as the first major rift emerged over their choice of residence. It's speculated that Dhanashree wanted to establish herself in Mumbai's entertainment scene, while Chahal was unwilling to leave his Haryana home and family. Though neither party publicly confirmed this 'Mumbai-Haryana' disagreement, insiders say it created an undercurrent of frustration from late 2020 onward. Silent signals on social media By 2023, fans noted a clear shift: couple posts disappeared, and both began sharing cryptic captions about new beginnings. One Instagram story from Chahal read 'New life loading.' This appeared shortly before Dhanashree removed 'Chahal' from her profile name in 2023. As hints piled up, the digital clues only fueled speculation. This was especially the case when the couple unfollowed one another on Instagram. The speculated end then became a reality when the two were sighted at Bandra Family Court in February 2025. The final separation The couple filed for divorce by mutual consent—opting out of the usual six-month cooling-off requirement—and received an official decree on March 21, 2025. Since then, Chahal has dedicated himself to his cricket career, securing an ₹18 crore contract with Punjab Kings.
