Dallas Cowboys Urged to Trade for Rival Pro Bowl QB
Yet, one of the team's weaknesses is becoming more and more obvious with each game that the Cowboys play. Earlier this offseason, the Cowboys were singing backup quarterback Joe Milton's praises. Not any more, after Milton completed 26 of 47 passes for 265 yards and a touchdown in his first two preseason performances with the team.
Milton's inconsistent performances now have the team possibly reconsidering their quarterback depth chart. Dak Prescott is the unquestioned starter, but Milton was supposed to be the primary backup after the Cowboys traded a fifth-round pick for the former sixth-round pick in April. Thirty-year-old journeyman Will Grier is the only other quarterback on the Cowboys' roster.
However, Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio is now urging the Cowboys to make a move for a new backup to Prescott. Considering how important it is for all playoff contenders to have a QB ready to step in at a moment's notice, the Cowboys may want to evaluate all their options.
Yet, Florio's suggestion is a bit wild. He believes Dallas should call the New York Giants about trading for their already announced starter, Russell Wilson. Florio's reasoning ties into the strong preseason performances from first-round rookie Jaxson Dart, who's completed 26 of 35 passes for 291 yards and two touchdowns thus far.
It's likely only a matter of time before the Giants install Dart as the long-term starter, but it likely won't happen before the regular season kicks off. After all, they likely want to give Wilson, a former Super Bowl winner, every chance to succeed before considering alternative options. However, the Giants do also have Jameis Winston, and he could already be on the trade block.
Other options Florio suggests for the Cowboys include Kenny Pickett and Joe Flacco from the Cleveland Browns. Or perhaps Sam Howell from the Minnesota Vikings. Ultimately, the best solution for the Cowboys may be to wait and see which quarterbacks end up on the chopping block once rosters are trimmed down from 90 to 53 players.

Texas QB Arch Manning says his grandpa apologized for NFL plan prediction
There's so much speculation about Texas quarterback Arch Manning's future, in the media and even within his own family, that it can be hard for him to keep up. On Tuesday, Manning insisted he's not plotting out how long he'll stay at Texas or when he'll enter the NFL draft, despite his grandfather's recent prediction to Texas Monthly magazine that he'll be with the Longhorns through the 2026 season. 'I don't know where he got that from,' Arch Manning said in his first meeting with reporters since SEC media days in mid-July. 'He texted me to apologize about that. I'm really just taking it day by day right now.' Arch Manning has been careful while talking about his future as he leads the No. 1 Longhorns as the full-time starter after playing behind Quinn Ewers the past two seasons. Manning enters this season as the early favorite for the Heisman Trophy, has endorsement deals worth millions and comes from the most famous quarterbacking family in football. Grandfather Archie played in the NFL and uncles Peyton and Eli combined for four Super Bowl victories. Add that together and Arch Manning is shouldering the biggest spotlight of any player in the country. Texas opens the season August 30 at No. 3 Ohio State after losing to the Buckeyes in the national playoff semifinals last season. Manning is also very close to his grandfather, despite any confusion about whether he's destined for one or two seasons as the Texas starter before heading to the NFL. Jason McCourty recalls his roasting of Kansas City Chiefs fans at the 2023 NFL Draft
This week, Chiefs Wire's Ed Easton Jr. spoke to Super Bowl champion and CBS Sports NFL analyst Jason McCourty about his role as Pro Athlete Community (PAC) Board of Advisors Co-Chair, inviting fellow athletes and reflecting on his infamous roast of Kansas City Chiefs fans at the 2023 NFL Draft. "The cool thing about it is that everyone's brutally honest when you're in locker rooms and have guys you've played with. I will say, when guys have had the chance to experience it, they've wanted to pass it on to other guys. I think that's helped it a lot, because everyone who goes has such a transformational experience that you wish other guys to be a part of it, guys that you may know who are struggling, or guys who are thriving, that you feel it'll help them." Said McCourty, "About 30 former players were on a call, and Devin and I spoke about our experiences with PAC. As soon as we finished the Zoom call, I had two teammates text me, Hey, can you jump on the phone? Got on the phone with one of them. He first said to me, "Alright, Cut The B.S. Is this real? Is this worth it? I think when you can have those open and candid conversations, and he ended up going and he loved it, but I think that's been the cool part is that once guys take part in it, and you can have those conversations about what it is, you can tell people this is the real deal." McCourty was a guest on behalf of the Tennessee Titans during the 2023 NFL Draft in Kansas City. The former New England Patriots star taunted the crowd about his last visit, winning the 2018 AFC Championship. "I want the people of Kansas City to know it is all love. I have no beef. It is purely entertainment. It was so funny." Said McCourty, "The Titans had called me and asked me to do the draft pick, and at the time, I was on Good Morning Football, and Kyle Brandt had done the Buffalo Bills draft pick a year ago, and he had the chicken wing, he had the pants, and he had everything. It was an awesome announcement. I remember going in. I was leaving that afternoon after I finished Good Morning Football, and Kyle asked me, "So what will you do for the announcement?" And I'm like, say the name and get off the stage. And he's like, No, you gotta come up with something. The reason they're asking you is that you gotta be entertaining." "So my two-and-a-half-hour ride on a plane, that's all I did, was research, like, what I would say, how I would present it? I remember agreeing to go out. They've always said, You've seen guys go out there and take too long, and it's just like, Yo, the clock's ticking. Get off the stage." Said McCourty, "Roger Goodell says to me, 'Take your time and have fun'. I was like, Oh, that's all right, we're good. So, you've got to come up with some stingers, no matter who it is you're going with. I said something about McAfee. I think of that too. So my kids thought it was hilarious when they went on YouTube, and people were like Jason McCourty trolls. So it was a lot of fun."
