London Heathrow's Latest Disruption Is a Closed Road Tunnel

Bloomberg05-08-2025
Travelers heading to London Heathrow Airport faced disruption on Tuesday because of the closure of a main road tunnel at the biggest UK hub, less than a week after a UK-wide air-traffic control failure canceled some flights.
A technical issue meant the road tunnel into Terminals 2 and 3 was blocked off to drivers on Tuesday morning, a Heathrow spokeswoman said. The issue was later resolved and the tunnel reopened, with traffic flowing again, she said in an update.

I've Perfected My Go-to Airport Outfit With These Comfy Pull-on Jeans—and They're on Sale for $35

I used to only travel in leggings or sweatpants, but after spending a year living in London and frequenting European airports, I started changing how I dressed to fly. While you'll still never catch me wearing tight, restricting clothes in the air for the sake of fashion, I upped my airplane outfit game to blend in with the Europeans around me—and it transformed my travel experience. Air travel became less of a chore and more of an event to choose a well-thought-out outfit for. Now, I'm constantly looking out for travel clothes that are comfy but not sloppy. And I'm confident I've discovered a pair of jeans that are practically designed for travel: these supremely comfortable Gap High-rise Wide-leg Pull-on Jeans. With a stretchy waistband and adjustable drawstring, these Gap jeans don't dig into my skin when I'm sitting for long periods of time. And, the wide-leg style provides plenty of airflow so I don't overheat while waiting for the airplane's AC to kick in. The best part? These stretchy, baggy jeans are on major sale at Gap—grab them now for $35, which is 50 percent off the regular price. $70 $35 at The first thing I noticed about these Gap Pull-on Jeans is that they were instantly comfortable, made of 100 percent cotton. They feel soft to the touch and gentle against my skin, which is a huge plus for a long travel day. I also like that the material itself is a non-stretch denim, so the jeans can be reworn during a trip—they don't look wrinkled or messy after wearing them. The combo of the durable material and the stretchy waistband is like a match made in travel paradise. $70 $35 at What's more is that these Gap jeans also have a few unique features that make them standout travel pants in my book. They're outfitted with utility pockets in the front, so they're much larger than standard jeans pockets. I can easily fit my phone in one and even my wallet in another—perfect for a quick coffee run either at the airport (if I can leave my bag with a friend, of course!) or my hotel. Another feature I love is the relaxed fit in the thighs; as a curvier person, finding jeans that fit my waist and thighs comfortably is a major feat. These jeans fit my waist perfectly without being too loose or too tight, and my thighs have plenty of room for movement. The roomy fit also means that these jeans are shockingly comfortable to sit in. I've worn them on a cross-country flight as well as a seven-hour road trip. At no point on either of these journeys did they dig into my stomach or make my legs feel restricted. And, they held up their shape super well after these long periods of sitting—I wore them straight off the plane and out of the car into my first activity upon arrival. $70 $35 at Finally, I love the overall look of these Gap pants. The horizontal seams across the front of the legs add some flair that makes my travel outfit pop, even when I'm just wearing them with a T-shirt and zip-up. I've worn these pants all around New York City this summer, too, finding that they're breezy enough for hot days (but not too hot days; they would be a bit too heavy for that) and even look polished enough to wear to the office. I'm planning on transitioning into fall with these baggy jeans, as they'll be ideal for cooler days paired with a sweater and boots. Clearly, I can't say enough good things about the Gap High-rise Wide-leg Pull-on Jeans. As someone who prefers a little more structure to their travel outfits, I love that I finally found a pair of pants that strike the perfect balance between comfort and structure, so I can look put together on the plane and then rewear them on my trip. For even more comfortable jeans, check out these additional pairs at Amazon that are all pull-on style for ease and versatility. Love a great deal? Aftermath as two easyJet planes crash on runway leaving passengers shocked

Two easyJet planes collided on the taxiway at Manchester Airport in the UK at 6:33am, leaving debris on the ground but no reported injuries. Flights were briefly suspended, and the aircraft were checked for safety before passengers were bussed back to the terminal. Passenger Phil Aspin described a 'loud thud' as the planes' wings struck each other while they were waiting to take off. EasyJet confirmed the wingtip collision, apologized for delays, and said passengers received refreshment vouchers while replacement aircraft were arranged.
