Pusha T Not a Fan of Drake's UMG Lawsuit: ‘It Just Kind of Cheapens the Art'

Yahoo03-06-2025
As you might have predicted, Pusha T isn't the biggest fan of Drake's UMG lawsuit.
While sitting down with GQ alongside his brother Malice to promote their upcoming Clipse reunion album Let God Sort Em Out, Push brought up the lawsuit when discussing a Kendrick Lamar feature that almost didn't make the album.

'They wanted me to ask Kendrick to censor his verse, which of course I was never doing,' he said of Def Jam's parent company UMG. 'And then they wanted me to take the record off. And so, after a month of not doing it, Steve Gawley, the lawyer over there was like, 'We'll, just drop the Clipse.'' They got their wish, as both the group and Push himself were dropped from the label, according to GQ.
He then added that he went through similar pushback over his unreleased verses on Rick Ross' 'Maybach Music VI' and Pop's Smoke's posthumously released track 'Paranoia' after the release of 'Story of Adidon.'
'If [Drake's] adamant to have a lawsuit,' he said, 'it's only because he knows all the things that they did to suppress everything that was happening around 'Adidon' and the verses and the records and things that were happening back then. I don't rate him no more. The suing thing is bigger than some rap sh–. I just don't rate you. Damn, it's like it just kind of cheapens the art of it once we gotta have real questions about suing and litigation. Like, what? For this?'
However, he feels no need to reignite his beef with Drake anytime soon. 'I think after everything that had been done, I don't think there was ever anything subliminal to be said ever again in life,' he said of his longstanding feud with the Toronto rapper. 'Not only just musically, like bro, I actually was in Canada. I actually had a show and made it home. So, I can't pay attention to none of that. I did the dance for real, not to come back and tiptoe around anything.' Push added that he would only engage again if he felt like it.
Elsewhere in the interview, Push addressed his current standing with Ye (formerly Kanye West), saying he doesn't view his former collaborator as 'a man.'
Ye recently tweeted over the weekend that he misses his friendship with the Virginia rapper.
The Clipse released 'Ace Trumpets,' the lead single from their first album since 2009, last week.

New ‘South Park' Season 27 Promo Confirms Episode 3 Release Date

South Park's X account has finally given some clarity as to when Season 27 Episode 3 is coming out, but what it will be about is anybody's guess. Created by and starring the voices of Trey Parker and Matt Stone, South Park has been met with big ratings since Season 27 kicked off on July 23 on Comedy Central on cable and Paramount+ on streaming. The Paramount+ move from HBO Max — which streamed the series for the past five years — was part of Parker and Stone's new five-year $1.5 billion deal to produce 50 new episodes of South Park. In addition to the new and upcoming seasons, the first 26 seasons of South Park are now available on Paramount+. South Park Season 27 has already had two weeklong hiatus periods. After the premiere episode on July 23 — which lampooned President Donald Trump and Paramount Global— the show took its first hiatus and returned on Aug. 6 with an episode that mocked Trump, Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem and Immigration and Customs Enforcement, also known as ICE. On Wednesday, the South Park X account finally confirmed that it was taking another week off and will be returning with the 27th Season's third episode on Wednesday, Aug. 20, on Comedy Central and Thursday, Aug. 21, on Paramount. During the week off, Comedy Central aired a marathon of South Park favorites, interviews from Parker and Stone's appearance at Comic Con in July, and wrapped up with a re-airing of the first episode of the series that originally aired on Aug. 13, 1997. Unlike the previous promotional video that South Park posted for its then-upcoming Season 27 Episode 2, the teaser for Episode 3 gives no real indication of what viewers can expect. The 'South Park' Season 27 Episode 3 Is A Short Highlight Reel Of Episode 2 The promotional video for South Park Season 27, Episode 3, released by the South Park X account on Wednesday (embedded above), played like a highlight reel of Episode 2, which has quick bits of footage of President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance as Mr. Rourke and Tattoo-like characters, a la Fantasy Island. Also highlighted in the promo is Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem and Mr. Mackay in an ICE raid on the ground and in heaven. The promo begins with Jesus flying in the clouds in heaven. As such, who or what Trey Parker and Matt Stone will skewer in Episode 3 on Aug. 20 remains a mystery. It's possible that the South Park X account will post some clues ahead of the airing of the show, like the duo did with a pair of photos featuring Noem and Mr. Mackay, as well as new podcaster Cartman posted on Aug. 5 to tease the Aug. 6 episode. South Park Season 27, Episode 3 is set to air on cable on Comedy Central on Wednesday, Aug. 20 and will begin streaming on Paramount+ on Thursday, Aug. 21.
