CPI extends support to Vizag Steel Plant employees' stir
Vijayawada: Communist Party of India Andhra Pradesh secretary K Ramakrishna has demanded the State government take initiative and stop the proposed strike announced by the Vizag steel plant employees. He demanded the State government to take steps to prevent the privatization of the steel plant. In a press release on Tuesday, Ramakrishna said it is unfortunate that the government is not responding when efforts were on to privatise the steel plant which the Telugu people got after sacrifice of 32 lives. He said the CPI will extend full support to the strike of the Vizag steel workers, who will launch agitation on May 21.
He said there are no salaries to the employees for eight months, 3000 contract workers were terminated and efforts are underway to sack another 2600 workers. He said the management has given VRS to 1400 employees.
He alleged the Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu is not talking about the Vizag steel plant and he always talk about the Polavaram and the capital Amaravati. Ramakrishna said the government seems to be determined to privatise the steel plant. He said the double engine Sarkar of in the State and Central has no use to protect the interests of the people. He alleged the Naidu during the last 10 months never spoke about the Vizag steel plant. He said the Naidu is offering free land to the private steel plants and co-operating the Mittal steel plant.
He urged the people to participate in the solidarity meeting conducted in Vijayawada by Left parties on May 21 extending support to the Vizag steel plant employees.

The all-party parliamentary delegation led by JD(U) MP Sanjay Jha on Thursday met External Affairs Minister (EAM) S. Jaishankar and briefed him on the support received during their recent five-nation diplomatic outreach on the Operation Sindoor. Malaysia, however, appeared a little neutral. We noticed every country had its own approach. In many places, we got a positive response; in some, it was neutral, and in a few, there were questions. But this was the aim of our tour -- to understand and share perspectives." "We shared with them our firm stand against terrorism," he added. Responding to criticism from sections of the Opposition regarding alleged losses suffered during Operation Sindoor, Jha asserted, "The strongest message we sent globally was that India stands united. When I introduced the delegation members as being from Kerala, Assam, Bengal, Gujarat, and from different parties, it sent a strong signal that the entire nation and political spectrum was speaking in one voice. If one or two voices dissent, they should reflect on whether they are aligned with the country or somewhere else." BJP MP Aparajita Sarangi said, "We received an invitation from the EAM's office, and today we all had a productive discussion. Each member shared detailed experiences from the countries we visited. The Minister was deeply engaged and asked many questions. We explained everything in depth. Now the MEA will take a call on the further steps." Referring to the criticism over timing of diplomatic outreach, Sarangi said, "The delegation completed its work with seriousness and gave its briefing. Even today, during the meeting with the EAM, leaders like Salman Khurshid and CPI(M)'s John Brittas were present, and there was great camaraderie and unity. That's what stood out the most."

Chandrababu Naidu Champions Recycling and Green Initiatives on World Environment Day
In a significant move to enhance environmental sustainability, Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has directed top officials to formulate a special policy on recycling. This announcement came during a sapling planting event held on June 5th, in Ananthavaram village, as part of World Environment Day celebrations. The Chief Minister, alongside Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan, actively participated in the initiative by planting saplings in the Amaravati region. During the event, CM Naidu emphasised the importance of inter-departmental coordination to effectively implement recycling efforts. He also highlighted the need to consider suggestions from Prime Minister Narendra Modi to enhance the green cover in Amaravati, instructing officials to focus on developing Miyawaki gardens—a dense planting method inspired by practices in Malaysia, Singapore, South Korea, Japan, and the United States. The Chief Minister has mandated that a comprehensive report on the recycling policy be submitted every 15 days, in collaboration with the Panchayati Raj, Urban Development, Pollution Control Board, and other relevant departments. Additionally, he called for the establishment of exhibitions on recycling across three areas, along with awareness campaigns for college students utilizing mobile units. At the event, CM Naidu and Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan explored stalls set up by the Pollution Control Board that highlighted various aspects of environmental protection. The occasion was also attended by Minister Narayana and several other ministers and senior officials. In line with these green initiatives, the coalition government is dedicated to developing the Amaravati capital to international standards, aiming for 30 percent of the area to be designated as blue and green spaces. The administration is taking proactive measures to ensure future temperatures are maintained at least 2 to 3 degrees lower, drawing on successful plantation strategies from countries like Singapore and Japan.

People's revolution ended tyrannical rule: Andhra CM Naidu
VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu commemorated the first anniversary of the TDP-led NDA government's landmark victory on June 4, 2024, describing it as a historic day in the State's political landscape.
