Denver police arrest suspects in stabbing, attempted robbery investigation
Authorities said the stabbing took place in the 800 block of S. Broadway Street Thursday night. One person was taken to the hospital for treatment, but the extent of their injuries has not been released.
Police arrested the suspects, Nathaniel Mares and Daniel Martinez, who are being held for investigation. Authorities said Mares is facing a charge of aggravated robbery. Martinez is facing charges of first-degree attempted murder, aggravated robbery, first-degree assault with a deadly weapon and obstructing a peace officer.

Men charged in connection with alleged rape of 12-year-old
Two men have been charged in connection with the alleged rape of a 12-year-old girl in Nuneaton, Warwickshire. In a statement, the force said that once someone is charged with an offence, it follows national guidance, which 'does not include sharing ethnicity or immigration status'. The force said: 'Our neighbourhood officers work every day with local community partners. 'When something significant happens, we brief these partners and local elected officials on the circumstances of the crime, the investigation, the work being undertaken to arrest those responsible and how local people and partners can help a concerned community. 'Where relevant, sensitive information around locations, details of the crime and policing activity to catch offenders can be shared, with a warning that this is sensitive or confidential information and disclosure by those being briefed could affect future court hearings. 'We work to hold offenders to account and will always do everything in our power to present a robust case to the courts and protect the integrity of court proceedings.'

New Zealand woman arrested after traveling with 2-year-old in suitcase
A woman in New Zealand was arrested Sunday after a 2-year-old girl was found trapped in a suitcase that she was traveling with. Police were called to a bus depot in Kaiwaka – about 62 miles north of Auckland – after a bus driver became concerned about a bag moving during a scheduled stop. "When the driver opened the suitcase, they discovered the 2-year-old girl," Detective Inspector Simon Harrison said. "The little girl was reported to be very hot but otherwise appeared physically unharmed." According to police, the suitcase had been stored in a separate compartment beneath the bus passengers. Harrison said the girl is in the hospital undergoing an extensive medical assessment. The 27-year-old woman was arrested and charged with ill-treatment and neglect of a child. Harrison said further charges are possible. The relationship between the woman and child was not immediately released. The woman is due to appear in the North Shore District Court on Monday. "We would like to acknowledge and commend the bus driver, who noticed something wasn't right and took immediate action, preventing what could have been a far worse outcome," Harrison said.
