Gwyneth Paltrow Recalls Vagina Candle Release, Shocked

Buzz Feed19-05-2025

Back in 2020, Gwyneth Paltrow memorably sold a candle called 'This Smells Like My Vagina' for $75 via her website Goop.
The scent — which was a blend of "geranium, citrusy bergamot, and cedar absolutes juxtaposed with Damask rose and ambrette seed" — was described as 'funny, gorgeous, sexy, and beautifully unexpected.'
Fast forward to today, Gwyneth has defended the candle once more, claiming again that she seemingly had no clue that it would actually get made once she joked about the vagina-esque scent.
During an appearance at the 2025 Mindvalley Manifesting Summit this weekend, Gwyneth recalled, 'That product is so fascinating because we were messing around with different scents one day. And I smelled something and I was like, 'Oh, that smells like … you know.'
'I was joking. And then [Douglas] was like, 'Oh we should make that a candle and put it on the site,'' she said, referring to Douglas Little, who works on all Goop fragrances.
'All of a sudden, it was literally on the website. And then we broke the Internet again. And then it took us a long time to live that one down,' she said.
Reacting to Gwyneth's comments, several internet users couldn't help but question her story. ''I just make jokes and then my team goes rogue without thinking of potential PR issues, and I have no say in what is produced, labelled or goes on the website for my own brand.' Sure, Jan,' one Reddit user said.

New Photo of Taylor Swift at Intimate Wedding Surfaces on Friday

New Photo of Taylor Swift at Intimate Wedding Surfaces on Friday originally appeared on Athlon Sports. A new photo of Taylor Swift has been circulating on the Internet. This time, at a wedding. The candid photo, originally posted by @paigedoeswhatshewants on TikTok on Friday but was deleted an hour after it was posted, shows Swift having a conversation with two other people wearing a sleeveless baby blue midi dress with pink flowers and a pair of brown wedges. Her wavy hair was worn down and she seemed to be wearing a simple gold bracelet on her wrist. The creator who posted the photo put the 35-year-old singer's song "So High School" in the background, which is the 22nd song from her latest album "The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology." "not taylor swift being at my friends friends cousins wedding..." the creator wrote. Though the "You Need to Calm Down" singer has been trying to keep a relatively low profile since the end of her "Eras Tour" in December 2024 and after her boyfriend, tight end Travis Kelce and the Kansas City Chiefs lost the Super Bowl against the Philadelphia Eagles in February, she has been spotted quite frequently these past couple of weeks. On Wednesday evening, the couple was seen enjoying a dinner date at Buccan in Palm Beach, with Swift wearing a black mini dress and a pair of nude wedges. Then on May 23, they were spotted eating together at Harry's Bar and Restaurant, sitting side-by-side in a booth and enjoying their night. Last Friday, the singer revealed that she purchased the rights to her first six albums: her self-titled debut, "Fearless," "Speak Now," "Red," "1989" and "Reputation." This means that the 35-year-old singer owns every single recording, music video, concert film and the art that comes with it. "All of the music I've ever belongs to me," the singer wrote in a letter that's published on her website. "Every single era. My entire life's work." Amid the exciting news of Swift's major announcement, this photo quickly sparked conversation among fans. Though details about the event remain limited, the image alone was enough to set social media story was originally reported by Athlon Sports on Jun 7, 2025, where it first appeared.

We want the best: Our demands for the forthcoming Kiss movie starring Nick Jonas

Earlier this week, we learned that Kiss, initially dubbed "the hottest band in the land" before they upgraded to "the hottest band in the world," will soon share their story on the silver screen. Shout It Out Loud, named after a particularly catchy song on their third album, is due to start production at the end of this year or early 2026. The film will be directed by McG, the Charlie's Angels auteur whose last five movies have been Netflix releases including Rim of the World and Family Switch. Nick Jonas is currently in negotiations to play Paul Stanley, Kiss' lead singer (but second banana to bassist Gene Simmons, whose casting remains a mystery, as spokesman for the group). We're going to be optimists and say we eagerly await the finished product. For those raising eyebrows at Jonas' casting (and the Kiss Reddit page is a good source for that sentiment), one must recognize that while Kiss is considered a hard rock group — what with their demonic face paint, leather-and-spiked costumes, lusty tongue wiggling, blood spitting, and onstage fireballs — a lot of their music is just as poppy as the Jonas Brothers' material. That may sound like sacrilege, but when you break down what makes a song like "I Was Made for Lovin' You" work, you'll see it's not that different from "Play My Music." Much like the Bob Dylan film A Complete Unknown, this upcoming project is reportedly about the early days of the group, watching Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley transform from two Jewish kids in Queens (Chaim Witz and Stanley Eisen) into "The Demon" and "Starchild." We'll likely see how the pair, with guitarist Ace Frehley and drummer Peter Criss, created their flamboyant, theatrical style, which, mixed with simple chords and prurient lyrics, eventually led to 14 platinum albums and 75 million records sold worldwide. A Kiss movie has the potential to be a lot of fun, which is why we're going to assume that McG and the roughly 700 listed producers on this project are eager for some notes. Especially since there already was a movie, Spinning Gold, that detailed Kiss' pre-superstar years, which was pretty lousy. (It was more about record executive Neil Bogart, but Kiss is a big part of his story.) To that end, here's what needs to be in a Kiss movie. Several behind-the-scenes sequences detailing the production of Kiss Meets the Phantom of the Park, the 1978 television film starring Kiss. For those who haven't seen it, Kiss play themselves facing down an evil inventor who keeps his secret lair in an amusement park. It's kind of a mix of The Phantom of the Opera and Westworld, and features a lot of sunny California girls and roller coasters. We would also like a songwriting scene rivaling the Mozart-Salieri conclusion of Amadeus, but with Simmons and Stanley composing the lyric "You pull the trigger of my love gun." We also insist that they include the moment (which many believe to be an urban myth) where the members of Kiss dripped some of their blood into the vats of red ink used to create a Marvel Kiss comic book. A notary was witness to it, to ensure that this really happened, and that fans who purchased a copy would know they had real Kiss DNA in their homes. (Imagine reading this comic after cleansing yourself with some Sydney Sweeney bathwater soap!) Another highlight would be one of Simmons' first television appearances, on The Mike Douglas Show, where comedian Totie Fields saw right through his Dracula act and the two started making Jewish jokes. We'd also like to see the notoriously pugnacious Simmons accepting the fact that the band's biggest hit was the syrupy ballad "Beth," sung and co-written by Criss. (And that many people believe that the best song in the entire Kiss oeuvre is Frehley's cover of "New York Groove," which Simmons had nothing to do with.) There should also be a montage of Jonas belting out some of Stanley's signature screeching stage banter. (Do not click this unless you have an hour to kill and are in a location where you feel comfortable roaring with laughter.) Similarly, please give us more details about The Elder, the never-produced fantasy film that gave us the uncharacteristic album Music From the Elder, Kiss' attempt to create something similar to Pink Floyd's The Wall. The film must also show Simmons and Stanley's true métier. Recording albums is one thing, but finalizing merchandising deals is where Kiss truly shined. From shirts and posters and lunchboxes and figurines to the most final of purchases, the Kiss Kasket. To that end, we should also see how Kiss will live forever, as the members of the group have uploaded their likenesses (and maybe their consciousness?) into digital avatars. 21 Nostalgic Sounds Younger Generations Will Never Hear

Recently, Reddit user u/Repulsive-Pitch2555 asked an extremely nostalgic question, "People over 30: What's a sound from your childhood that younger generations will never hear?" Here are the top-voted nostalgic sounds that millennials and Gen-Xers can hear just like it was yesterday: "The clink of those heavy metal seat belt buckles. Bonus points if it branded the GM logo into your leg because it was 9,000 degrees." —KillerKowalski1 "For me, it's the screeching dial-up internet sound. I can still hear it in my soul." —Repulsive-Pitch2555"EEEEEEEEEerrrrrrrrrrbimbahmbindahmeeeeeeee."—BonerTurds"Poing-Poing-whap-PSSSSHHHHHHHHHH."—nmezib "That squeaky sound of the AIM chat door opening when your friend logged on." —ParcOSP"Or when it slammed shut and it was your crush who logged off 😭😂"—peacelovetacos247 "Static from the TV on the wrong channel or when the antenna wasn't adjusted properly." —StringSlinging "The opening of a VHS case. Also, the rewinding of a VHS tape." —leafer91 "The sound of someone slamming the phone when hanging up." —Rivas-al-Yehuda"And the satisfaction."—ladydrybones "The Windows 95 start-up sounds have been BURNED INTO MY SOUL." —Xeroxitosis "If you'd like to make a call, please hang up and try again. If you need help, hang up and then dial your operator." —cheesechimp"And the three weird little discordant tones that preceded it."—onlymemes-plz "The cassette rewinding faster and faster and faster until that final thump, and then a whine as it tries to keep rewinding and can't." —ledow"Alternatively, the horrifying sound of the cassette player devouring your tape before you can run across the room to stop it. Followed by the sad sounds of twisting and twisting the little wheel thingie with your finger as you attempt to respool the tape into the cassette."—shugersugar"I always kept a ✏️ nearby for just that that section of tape was forever garbled."—Sweet-Competition-15 "The cha-chunk of a manual credit card machine thingy." —Edward_the_Dog "This is so silly, but the squeak of the crank windows on cars takes me back." —Rockelle_Americano"Also, the sound old-fashioned analog blinkers made. New cars try to imitate it, but they don't quite hit the spot. And then the way old windshield wiper motors sounded — they were so loud that they drowned out the noise of the rain."—Me66 "Disney movie trailers voiced by Mark Elliott. If you don't know his name, you've definitely heard his voice in Disney trailers from the '90s and 2000s. He died in 2021, so younger generations will never hear him promote a new Disney thing." —PurpleDreamer28"Omg yes — 'Coming soon to own on video and DVD…' was literally a genre of trailer on its own. RIP to the voice of childhood."—Repulsive-Pitch2555 "The staticky sound from those grey computer speakers when a call was coming in." —will2165"Ditadit ditadit ditadit diiiiiiiiii...."—Pigheaded40something "N-Ni-Nic-Nick-N-Nic-Nick-Nick-NICKELODEONNNN." —Key-Cap3156"There's a documentary called The Orange Years that's all about Nickelodeon from the early '80s until about 2000. It's a really nostalgic trip for anyone who grew up in that timeframe."—Seahearn4 "You've got mail." —StagWants2Party"The AOL voice! That 'welcome' still lives rent-free in my brain. 😅"—Repulsive-Pitch2555 "After these messages, we'll be right back." —NBAccount "Downloading a corrupted file on Limewire and getting the good old 'I did not have sexual relations with that woman.'" —DueSink728 "The sound of someone blowing into a Nintendo cartridge." —DesignerCampaign2567 "Waking up at 3 a.m. on the couch to, 'How will I ever live without you! ULTIMATE LOVE SONG COLLECTION OF THE '80s." —zRustyShackleford "The sound of clapping out the chalkboard erasers." —Hikikomori_Otaku "Opening a glass bottle of Snapple. That popping sound." —MrCrix What other nostalgic sounds from your childhood do you miss? Let us know in the comments!
