Priyamani on the difference between Bollywood and South shoots: 'In the South, we actually start on time'
Priyamani about body image and weight struggle
It's not often that an actor manages to carve a space for themselves across industries, languages, and styles—but Priyamani has done just that. From winning hearts in the South with powerhouse performances in films like Paruthiveeran, Thirakkatha, and Chaarulatha, to holding her own alongside Bollywood heavyweights like Shah Rukh Khan in Jawan and Manoj Bajpayee in The Family Man, the National Award-winning actress has shown that talent speaks louder than borders. With her recent role in Article 370, she's once again proved her versatility and staying power. While Priyamani's onscreen journey has been seamless, transitioning between industries came with its own set of surprises. In a candid moment, the actress opened up about the behind-the-scenes contrast between South Indian cinema and Bollywood. 'The working style is mostly the same—barring the language, the director, the producer, and your co-stars. But one thing that really stood out to me was punctuality,' she revealed.According to Priyamani, South film sets are sticklers for time. 'If the call time is 8:00 AM, we start rolling at 8:00. Everyone is on set by 6:30 or 6:45, hair and makeup is done, and we're ready to go. You don't waste time—it's all very disciplined.'Bollywood, on the other hand, took some adjusting to. 'Here, if the call time says 8:00, that's when people start arriving on location. Initially, it was a shock to me. I'd be ready by 6:30, only to be told, 'Madam, people get here at 8:00. No need to come so early.''Despite the cultural shift, Priyamani took the change in stride. 'I had to learn the hard way, but now I'm used to both. Even now, if the call time is 8:00 AM, I'll reach by 7:30 or 7:45.'In the same interview, Priyamani opened up about her experience with body image in the spotlight. While she never felt pressured to look a certain way, there was a time when she gained significant weight—around 64–65 kilos—due to an internal health issue. Though it wasn't visible on screen then, she realized it later and began a weight loss journey after consulting several doctors. Fortunately, people around her were accepting of her appearance. However, after losing a lot of weight, some—including her family—felt she looked too thin. Still, she felt happy seeing herself on screen and adjusted things in her own way.

‘Roasted Sandeep Reddy Vanga': Internet reacts as Deepika Padukone joins Allu Arjun-Atlee's film after Spirit feud
Bollywood actor Deepika Padukone continues to make headlines on the work front. On Saturday, she surprised fans by announcing her next film, for which she will be collaborating with actor Allu Arjun. The project, tentatively titled AA22xA6, is helmed by Atlee who previously worked with Deepika on Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan. Touted to be a sci-fi, action entertainer, the film will see Deepika in her action mode. The makers unveiled a special video welcoming Deepika Padukone on board. It features her discussing the script with Atlee before heading to the set to begin her preparations for the film. Sharing the video, the makers wrote in the caption: 'The Queen marches to conquer! Welcome onboard @deepikapadukone #TheFacesOfAA22xA6 #AA22xA6 - A Magnum Opus from Sun Pictures.' Reacting to the video, fans have hailed Deepika in the comments. Many also poked fun at Deepika's recent feud with filmmaker Sandeep Reddy Vanga over her alleged 'unprofessional behaviour' which led to their fallout. She was to star in Vanga's upcoming film, Spirit. However, after demanding 8 hours of work with a profit share of the film, reportedly she was dropped from the film. A user commented, 'That's how a director respect queen Deepika (sic).' 'She asked for better working conditions since she has a kid to look after too. She asked for profits share becoz she is confident in her talent and the movie. She didn't ask for any outrageous thing like babysitting fees or anything. As a woman, I don't feel its injustice that she asked for those - if she has asked anything else to finance her personal decisions and choices it may had made more sense (sic),' added another. One more said, 'When the Queen's comeback is personal.' Someone also wrote, 'Atlee silently roasted Sandeep Reddy Vanga.' Deepika's new film announcement comes days after her exit from Spirit. She was later replaced with Triptii Dimri in the film. It stars Prabhas in the lead. Previously there were reports suggesting she was dropped out of Kalki 2 as well. Reports suggested that it was due to friction with the lead actor, Prabhas. Another rumour claimed that the makers of the sequel of Nag Ashwin's Kalki 2898 AD were considering either trimming or removing her role from the film. However, a close source to the actor dismissed them all. Deepika was last seen in Singham Again.

The announcement has sent shockwaves through the internet, with fans, fellow celebs, and media alike buzzing over what promises to be an electrifying collaboration. What makes this even more special? This marks Deepika's much-anticipated return to the big screen following the birth of her daughter, Dua. And what a comeback it is. The announcement dropped via a slick teaser video, where Atlee is seen narrating the story to Deepika, who exudes effortless elegance in an all-white ensemble. With just a glimpse into their creative exchange, fans are already convinced they're in for a never-seen-before avatar of the actress. Interestingly, the announcement comes shortly after her headline-making exit from Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Spirit with Prabhas. Reports suggested creative differences and her request for an 8-hour working day as a new mom didn't align with the production's schedule. But if this new team-up is any indication, Deepika has clearly landed on her feet—with power, purpose, and prime-time partnerships. In addition to AA22 x A6, the actress is also rumoured to be reuniting with Shah Rukh Khan in the much-awaited action thriller King, which also stars Suhana Khan.
