UFC on ABC 8 full fight: Jamahal Hill TKOs Thiago Santos in barn-burner fight A well-earned Fight of the Night.
Jamahal Hill's win prior to his championship breakthrough was a wild one.
Back in 2022, Hill headlined a UFC Fight Night event in Las Vegas against veteran and former UFC title challenger Thiago Santos. Fireworks were expected, but few saw coming the war that both Hill and Santos put on in the octagon. The two light heavyweights went toe to toe for over three rounds, with Hill picking up a TKO win in Round 4. It was that victory that ended up propelling Hill to a title opportunity months later against Glover Teixeira at UFC 283.
You can watch Hill's thrilling win over Santos in the video above.
Hill (12-3 MMA, 6-3 UFC) returns to the cage this Saturday in the main event of UFC on ABC 8 (ABC, ESPN, ESPN+), which takes place Saturday at Baku Crystal Hall in Baku, Azerbaijan. He takes on former title challenger Khalil Rountree Jr. (13-6 MMA, 9-6 UFC) in a pivotal bout at 205 pounds.

Jon Jones fires back at Daniel Cormier for not including him in MMA Mount Rushmore

Former UFC rivals Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier likely never will stop bickering at each other. Cormier was asked to give his MMA Mount Rushmore, where he included Demetrious Johnson, Georges St-Pierre, Khabib Nurmagomedov, and mentioned either Chuck Liddell or Randy Couture as a potential fourth. He noticeably left out Anderson Silva and arch rival Jon Jones (28-1 MMA, 22-1 UFC) because of their past history with testing positive for performance-enhancing drugs. "I don't believe that he (Jones) should be considered the greatest of all time," Cormier said on "Club Shay Shay." "Steroids in fighting is much different than anything else in the world." Jones defeated Cormier twice during his UFC light heavyweight title reign – with their rematch overturned to a no contest after Jones tested positive for a turinabol metabolite. Jones also tested positive for estrogen blockers clomiphene and letrozole in 2016 after he defeated Ovince Saint Preux. In both instances, an independent arbitrator determined that Jones did not knowingly cheat. "You just can't have that tied to your name, especially in fighting, and people call you the greatest of all time," Cormier said. "He's the greatest talent the sport has ever seen. In terms of his length, his skills, his mind, he's the most talented guy we've ever had." Jones was not going to allow Cormier to question his greatness. "When DC tells his story, somehow I'm always the co-star. Thanks @ShannonSharpe84for the invite, even if I was only there in spirit. #Airbnb." "High school state champ, JUCO national champ, youngest UFC champion, greatest in MMA history. A lifetime of loss, victories and sacrifice and this guy wants to write it all off as steroids. Honestly, it's insulting. But I can't help but laugh, knowing it was God given abilities that made him feel so inferior."

49ers WR Russell Gage set to miss 7-10 days with MCL sprain

The 49ers are dealing with another injury at wide receiver. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Russell Gage is expected to miss 7-10 days with a sprained MCL. Gage is listed as a second-teamer on the team's depth chart. Three other wideouts are also listed on that line and all of them have issues with their availability. DeMarcus Robinson is set for a three-game suspension to start the season while Jacob Cowing and fourth-round pick Jordan Watkins are dealing with injuries. Jauan Jennings is also out with a calf injury and Brandon Aiyuk's return date from last year's torn ACL remains uncertain, so Gage's injury comes at a bad time for the Niners. A trade for Skyy Moore on Wednesday was an attempt by the team to expand the available options, but it may not be the only move they need to make to ensure a full set of receivers for the start of the season.
