In 2021, Kartik Aaryan and Karan Johar had a major fallout. The former was dropped from filmmaker's Dostana 2.
It is not a secret that Kartik Aaryan and Karan Johar had a major fallout in 2021. The two resolved their conflicts last year and are now working together on two projects – Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri and Nagzilla. However, how did Kartik and KJo end their fight?
In a recent interview, the filmmaker opened up about the same when he told Bollywood Hungama, 'We internally discussed it, worked it out, and we let bygones be bygones. And Kartik is an immensely hardworking, very connected big star today who has a wide audience base, has a great instinct on screenplay. He and I met, collaborated, decided to come together. It was all kosher, all lovely."
'And I've had, he's had, we've all had our issues with each other. But it's a tiny industry, which I call a family. And I believe that within a family, sometimes there are complaints, but at the end of the day, you know, good people want to make good films and come together to create good content," Karan added and then concluded by saying, 'As I said, we don't sweat the small stuff. We have the larger vision to look at."
For the unversed, in 2021, Kartik Aaryan and Karan Johar had a major fallout. The former was dropped from the filmmaker's Dostana 2. The film was supposed to feature Kartik alongside Janhvi Kapoor. Even though the shooting of the movie had already begun, Kartik was removed from it. The rumours about Kartik's 'unprofessional" behaviour upsetting KJo surfaced online.
However, on Kartik's 33rd birthday in 2023, Karan Johar ended their fight. He took to his official Instagram account to announce a movie with the actor.
Later, Kartik was also speaking to Lallantop when he opened up about his fallout with KJo and said, 'I was silent when the news came about and I choose to stay silent even now. I am 100% focused on my work and when controversies of such nature happen, I stay calm about them. I don't get involved a lot in them and I don't have to prove anything to anyone by getting involved."

Starring Hrithik Roshan , Jr NTR , and Kiara Advani in lead roles, the high-octane action-thriller promises a gripping blend of espionage, power-packed stunts, and edge-of-the-seat drama. The film, directed by Ayan Mukerji, has been making headlines since its announcement. Ahead of its release, the makers hosted a star-studded special screening attended by Bollywood's biggest names. Hrithik Roshan arrived hand-in-hand with girlfriend Saba Azad , both making a stylish entry. Kunal Kapoor also accompanied the couple in their car. Power couple Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor also graced the event, arriving in their luxurious car. War franchise star Tiger Shroff attended to show support for his co-star Hrithik, while Anil Kapoor opted for a cool, casual look. A two-second obscene gesture was also removed. War 2 continues the clash between Indian spies Major Kabir Dhaliwal (Hrithik Roshan) and Vikram (Jr NTR), with Kiara Advani playing a crucial role. Coolie Gains More Multiplex Shows As Box Office Battle With Hrithik-Jr NTR's War 2 Heats Up

The competition between Coolie and War 2 is shaping up to be one of the year's most closely watched box office battles. The battle at the box office is heating up as Coolie steadily makes its mark against War 2 in Hindi. Initially, most single, dual, and triple screen properties across India were giving full preference to War 2, leaving only a few shows for Coolie. But the tide is shifting. Over the past four days, advance bookings for Coolie have surged, prompting cinemas to add more shows, according to Bollywood Hungama. The film, which was initially expected to earn Rs. 8 crore on its opening day, has now seen its capacity jump by 60 percent to Rs. 13 crore due to strong audience demand. While War 2 continues to lead overall Hindi screenings, Coolie has the potential to achieve higher occupancy rates in select locations where demand is strongest. Audience Demand Drives Multiplex Increase A leading multiplex executive told Bollywood Hungama, 'Coolie is performing well in tier 2 and tier 3 centres, and we are increasing the shows accordingly. Audience demand is clear, and we must match it." Another cinema owner, running a two-screen property, claimed that despite strict instructions from YRF not to give any show to Coolie, they managed to schedule two shows due to popular demand. Ticket sales for these shows have already begun picking up. The names of multiplex chains and cinema halls are being kept under wraps to protect business interests, but platforms like Book My Show are reflecting the increased availability of Coolie screenings, showing the film's growing presence in the Hindi market. The Clash Intensifies The competition between Coolie and War 2 is shaping up to be one of the year's most closely watched box office battles. With strong audience demand for both films, cinemas are quickly adjusting schedules. For moviegoers, this means more chances to catch Coolie on the big screen despite the YRF release dominating most venues. As box office numbers roll in, it will be intriguing to see whether Coolie can sustain momentum and challenge War 2's dominance in Hindi. Karan Johar says Jigra failure was ‘disappointing,' feels a decade later people will say Alia Bhatt was ‘brave' to do it

Filmmaker Karan Johar has spoken out about the box office failure of Jigra, which starred Alia Bhatt in the lead role and was released last year. In an interview with Suchin Mehrotra, Karan said that the entire team had faith in the film and trusted Vasan Bala's vision, so evidently the failure did leave them 'disappointed.' However, he also feels that the film will be remembered as something that 'broke ground' in the next decade. (Also read: Alia Bhatt chased Vasan Bala to get hold of Jigra script; director wasn't happy with Karan Johar. Here's why) Karan Johar has spoken about the failure of Jigra. What Karan said about Jigra During the interview, Karan shared, 'Vasan's meta-referencing, quirks and style of absolutely breaking the grammar of filmmaking, such things may not always land, right? But should he stop making films like this because of that? No! He must always make films that he believes in.' 'I am very proud of Jigra' He added, 'Yes, we were disappointed, dejected and sad. But we are all very proud of that film, even today. Even now, we have a group comprising Vasan, me and Alia. Vasan has a brilliant self-deprecating sense of humour. He will make fun of himself in the most unique way possible. We still send messages on that group. Like I will go and chat about this. I do believe that a decade or two later, we will reference Jigra as something that broke ground, something that Alia was brave to do, something that Vasan was brave to contribute to and the rest of us were so brave to do. I am very proud of Jigra. There are films that I am not proud of that have failed… this film may have failed at the box office but for me it is a success story and I will maintain it.' Jigra was an action-packed narrative centred around a prison break, showcasing the lengths a sister will go to protect her brother. Produced under the banner of Dharma Productions, Jigra hit theatres on October 11.
