LuLu Forex & LuLu Finserv Partners with AFA
Pune: LuLu Forex, a pan-India provider of foreign exchange and outward remittance services, and LuLu Finserv, a microlending and financial services company, have announced a regional fintech partnership with the Argentine Football Association (AFA).
As part of a larger global agreement, various entities under LuLu Financial Holdings—operating in 10 countries—will represent AFA within their respective regions. In India, LuLu Forex and LuLu Finserv will jointly serve as official regional partners, while sister companies like LuLu Exchange and LuLu Money will manage partnerships in the GCC countries, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Singapore. HP Srivastava Appointed Chairman of DCCIA
Pune: HP Srivastava has been appointed as the new chairman of the Deccan Chamber of Commerce, Industries & Agriculture (DCCIA), a prominent industry body with a legacy spanning over three decades. Srivastava previously served as Vice-Chairman for more than 20 years.
Alongside his appointment, Dr. Prakash Dhoka has been named Vice-Chairman, V.L. Malu as Honorary Secretary, and Vibhu Prasad as Treasurer.

Lokesh pushes for Microsoft Experience Zone
VIJAYAWADA: HRD, IT, and Electronics Minister Nara Lokesh, along with his delegation, visited the Microsoft Experience Centre in Singapore on Wednesday. This visit was part of his fourth day in Singapore, during which he engaged with several reputed firms to invite their collaboration with Andhra Pradesh across various sectors. During his interaction with representatives from the Microsoft Experience Centre, Lokesh proposed the establishment of a Microsoft Experience Zone/Technology Station in Andhra Pradesh. Chennai Corporation to issue Rs 205 crore green bonds for Kodungaiyur biomining project
CHENNAI: In a first, the Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) is set to issue green municipal bonds worth Rs 205.64 crore to raise capital for sustainable urban development projects. A resolution in this regard was passed at the council meeting on Wednesday. The funds raised through green bonds will be used to finance the biomining project at the Kodungaiyur dumpyard, to reclaim 252 acres of land. While the total project cost is Rs 640.83 crore, GCC's share stands at Rs 385.64 crore. Of this, Rs 205.64 crore will be raised through green bonds and the remaining Rs 180 crore will be sourced through external funding via the Germany-based development bank KfW. Highlighting the success of other municipalities like the Indore municipal corporation, which saw 5.91 times oversubscription, and Pimpri-Chinchwad municipal corporation, which saw 5.13 times oversubscription, the GCC said there is a strong demand for green bonds. As a second-time issuer of municipal bonds and a first-time issuer of green municipal bonds, GCC is also eligible for an incentive of Rs 10 crore for every Rs 100 crore raised under the AMRUT 2.0 scheme. The GCC's bond issuance committee is expected to submit the proposal to the state government for approval in the coming days. Earlier in May, GCC listed its first municipal bonds on the National Stock Exchange, raising Rs 200 crore at 7.97% interest over 10 years.

GCC floats ‘unfair' 24-hr tenders, backtracks
Chennai: In flagrant violation of transparency rules while floating tenders, Greater Chennai Corporation had announced 14 small-scale tenders with only a 24-hour window for bidding. However, officials privy to the matter said a corrigendum was issued individually later, confirming that the tenders will be open till mid-August. The tenders had been floated on Wednesday at 1.30pm, and GCC mandated that the bids should be submitted by 3pm the next day. The tenders were to be opened within 24 hours, the next day. The tenders were for park restoration, classroom building, road restoration, and installing rainwater harvesting pipes, each worth 5 lakh to 40 lakh, and totalling more than 1 crore. As per Tamil Nadu Transparency in Tenders Rules, 2000, a tender must be open for participation for at least 21 days, up to 90 days, for contractors to view and apply on the TN Tenders website. Short-term tenders must be open for at least 15 days. "It is suspicious as to why they would close them within 24 hours. It only means they are opening this for select contractors who already know about the tenders. I have already filed court cases regarding such short-term tenders, and GCC must ensure fair competition in tenders," he said. M Radhakrishnan of the NGO Arappor Iyakkam said they flagged the issue of similar short-term tenders in 2022 for road relaying in Manali. "We also took it up to the Tamil Nadu local body ombudsman and proved our case on how GCC finished work in August 2022, but floated a namesake tender for the same work in October. Yet, no FIR was filed. If action had been taken in this case, officials wouldn't have repeated this," he said. Activists said there's no scope for even 2-3 people to participate within 24 hours and urged GCC not to bypass regular tender norms. "Even for the Marina battery-operated vehicles (BOV) procurement this year, they floated a limited tender. The value of individual tenders might not be much, but when multiplied, it could run into several crores across all 15 zones," he said. While GCC commissioner J Kumaragurubaran and deputy commissioner (Works) V Sivakrishnamurthy weren't available for comment. "The tenders will be open till mid-Aug," said an official, who did not want to be named. Deputy Mayor Mahesh Kumar said he will look into the matter.
