Ben Stiller's actress daughter says they have discussed writing a play together
Ella, 23, who plays the lead in a new off-Broadway play called Dilaria, said that while she would like to work alongside her father, she is also wanting to 'pave my own way and have my own voice be put out there.'
She told US publication Teen Vogue: 'My dad and I talk a lot about writing together, and I think we eventually want to write a play together for the two of us, hopefully.
'I would love, love, love to work with everyone in my family, just because… growing up, that's what my dad always said — when you watch his movies, so many of the little random parts in it are family members or a family friend or something.
'And it's almost just a hidden gem Easter egg thing… you can put little parts of your own self and life into it.'
Her father has led comedy films including Zoolander, Meet The Parents and The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty.
Ella said: 'I think my dad and I are very similar in the way our brains work and the way we view art and writing and creativity.
'I feel he and I are very much cut from the same cloth.
'I feel I get a lot of my everyday stuff or mannerisms from my mom. We all, collectively, get our sense of humour from each other.
'We have a very specific way of joking in my family, which I love so much… I am surrounded by a lot of really smart people who make really smart jokes without ego.'
She added: 'I grew up with access to people. My parents, my grandparents were amazing actors and writers and that's incredible and that's an amazing privilege, but I wanted to also have my own people and pave my own way and have my own voice be put out there.
'I always want to make sure the people that I work with and who I surround myself with are people who really see me as my own person and my own artist.'

As Yamin sits down it's the first question she asks her mum and sister, and she looks relieved as they tell her the cat is doing ok. Announcing the news on Instagram on Wednesday evening, Yasmin wrote: "As I've spoken about her on the show I'm sure a lot of you will know I have a cat called miaow miaow who's been by my side for 11 years now. "When I was filming Love Island I had a bad gut feeling something was off and when my mum and sister came into the villa I asked them and still felt like something was off." She continued in her statement: "Rightfully they didn't tell me because I was still in the villa but after the final I called my sister and she told me that miaow miaow had cancer and died whilst I was away filming Love Island." Yasmin explained she was doing her best to maintain a visible presence online in light of the news, but it was proving hard. She continued: "I'm trying to be as active as I can be on socials but am taking time for myself to process this heartbreak. "RIP to my beautiful baby girl, you were so loved and will always be in my soul." Yasmin, 24, who finished in third place with partner Jamie Rhodes, 26, returned to social media earlier today to thank fans for supporting her on the show. Shock moment Love Island star Yasmin's mum claims finale result was FIXED - as show bosses hit back She said: "My love island journey has been crazy to say the least but I really wouldn't have been able to do it without my Jamie, Toni and Shakira. "I feel so grateful and blessed and can't wait to see what the future holds." 5 Yasmin explained she was doing her best to maintain a visible presence online in light of the news, but it was proving hard Credit: Instagram

Vernon Kay talks shift in his ways after keeping wife Tess Daly waiting 'a long time'
BBC Radio 2 presenter Vernon Kay said he's "finally done something that benefits the family", following a shake-up to his morning schedule. During his mid-morning show this week, the 51-year-old said he hated "life admin", after his colleague Ella said she had "jobs" to do when she got home. Sharing his thoughts, the host responded: "Life admin, I hate it." He then joked: "I woke up this morning first thing, quarter to seven and did some life admin. "I'll be honest with you, I thought, 'Aye, look at me, adulting before I've even had my cup of tea!'". After Ella described this move as "impressive", he replied: "Do you know what I mean? "I [usually] have my cup of tea and go and sit and watch the garden, get my head right, but I did a little bit of adulting before I put the kettle on." Vernon humorously went on to say he was eager to share the news with his wife Tess Daly, the Strictly Come Dancing presenter, for a treat in return. "I tell you what though, wait 'til I tell Tess. I'll have a three-course dinner waiting for me when I get home," he quipped. Mimicking what her reaction might be, he added: "'You actually did something sensible?' You know what I mean? "'Wow, you've actually done something that benefits the family.' 'Yep, I really have!'" Ella then asked: "How many years has she been waiting for that?". He replied: "Yep, a long time! I'm really chuffed, like, 'Wow, look at me, I'm grown up. Yep.' "You know what I'll be doing this afternoon? Buying bath taps — because that's when you're officially an adult." Vernon returned to his radio show on Monday, after enjoying a break in the South of France with Tess and their two daughters; Phoebe, 20, and Amber, 16. (Image: Tess Daly Instagram) Chatting to listeners about his getaway, the broadcaster revealed he'd witnessed a transformation in the couple's youngest daughter particularly. He explained: "We had such a good time, it was that holiday, and mums and dads will know, it was that holiday where you babies become teenagers. "I mean, I know Phoebe is [nearly] 21, but the youngest Amber, we saw that change, that switch flipped from wanting to just, you know, swim, paddle, no, no, no, no. Show more "The gear change was, 'Swimming, paddling?', 'No, let's see if we can find somewhere where we can dance on tables and waft a handkerchief above our heads'." After this revelation, Vernon disclosed that he and the family enjoyed "a little bit of a rave-up" and "a good time". Vernon Kay's show airs weekdays from 9.30am on BBC Radio 2
