First-look at Father Brown series 13 shows Dame Maureen Lipman in guest role
Filming has wrapped on the upcoming series of the BBC drama, which follows a Roman Catholic priest – played by Harry Potter star Mark Williams – as he fights crime in the fictional village of Kembleford, located in Gloucestershire.

Dame Maureen Lipman can be seen guest starring in Father Brown in first look images for the 13th series.
Filming has wrapped on the upcoming series of the BBC drama, which follows a Roman Catholic priest – played by Harry Potter star Mark Williams – as he fights crime in the fictional village of Kembleford, located in Gloucestershire.
Among the other guest stars of the new series are Absolutely Fabulous's Julia Sawalha, Quadrophenia actor Phil Daniels and soap star Debra Stephenson.
Photos from the set show Dame Maureen, 79, with coiffed hair wearing a patterned dress and red cardigan standing alongside Williams and Sawalha, who wears a French maid's costume, as well as The Inbetweeners star Alex Macqueen – who is in a tailcoat and bow tie.
Williams, 65, said: "My Dad was a surveyor and taught me how to look at buildings, not just their architecture but how they were used, and why they were where they are. So one of the constant pleasures of filming Father Brown for me is the places we film in, and I always have the relevant Pevsner's Buildings Of England book to hand.
"This year, our 13th, has been a great year for interesting locations.
"We have filmed in The Chateau Impney – a French fantasy in Droitwich, the little theatre in Chipping Norton (an ex-Salvation Army citadel), the wonderful 18th century octagonal Crown Courts in Warwick and an atmospheric ex-nunnery in Great Malvern with a glorious chapel by Ninian Comper.
"Also, The Fleece Inn in Bretforton which is a English pub time capsule, the spectacular Baroque church at Great Witley, and to top it off a selection of lovely stone Cotswold houses and churches. What a fabulous itinerary. And we filmed an episode at the seaside. Lucky lad, as my Dad would have said."
The next series will see the return of cast members including Tom Chambers as Inspector Sullivan, Claudie Blakley as the new Mrs Isabel Sullivan, Ruby-May Martinwood as Brenda and John Burton as Sergeant Goodfellow.
Irish TV actress Sorcha Cusack will also be making a special return as Mrs McCarthy for the first episode.
Series 13 will see the new Mr and Mrs Sullivan settle into married life after the wedding celebrations at the end of series 12.
Elsewhere, Father Brown is tasked by Flambeau to visit excommunicated priest Father Lazarus in prison and Canon Fox plans to enact revenge upon Father Brown.

Based on the short stories by English author GK Chesterton, the crime series is set in a quiet village in the Cotswolds and first aired on BBC daytime in 2013.
Father Brown series 13 will air on BBC One and BBC iPlayer early next year.

In an emotional social media post, renowned celebrity MUA Sandy explained how she had worked with the late English actress on several occasions, and was given the honour of looking after her one last time by applying her lying-in-state makeup. In the post's caption, Sandy wrote: "A little note about how I worked with Natasha Richardson several times. I got the news that she'd struck her head and died from the injury she sustained while skiing. "I was asked to make her up while she was 'lying in state'. An Irish custom. She looked like a queen. "2 months later I got a call from Liam Neeson. I went to his apartment – he asked me if I was doing well. I said yes. And then he said 'I know what I'll do' and he came back and handed me this note." Liam's note, which is dated 4 May 2009, reads: "Dear Sandy. My family and I are so appreciative of what you did for our Natasha. We were deeply touched by your gesture, and realize how difficult it must have been for you. It meant so much to all of us." Sandy's heartbreaking post comes as Liam has recently found happiness in his romance with his Naked Gun co-star Pamela Anderson. Oasis fans headed for Murrayfield may face surprising struggle in between songs
Edinburgh Oasis fans are certainly in for a treat this weekend, but one thing might get in the way during the gigs. The Gallaghers are finally headed to Edinburgh to perform their legendary reunion tour, with the first of Oasis' three Murrayfield gigs kicking off tomorrow, August 8. But one thing may hinder Scottish fans' experience with the famous Mancunians - understanding their accents. Edinburgh has been ranked second-last for the Oasis Live UK cities most likely to be able to understand the famous brothers' thick Manchester drawls. In fact, according to data from language learning app Preply, Oasis' tour has sparked an 80 per cent surge in searches for 'Manchester accent' as fans prepare for the band's famously thick Mancunian speech. The English spoken by Scots and Mancunian are two very different beasts, according to the language experts. The rhythm, stress, and vowels differ significantly. We Scots see less day-to-day exposure to Manchester's version of English since we're north of the border, so that may pose a bit of a problem for some gig-goers. But it's not just Scots that struggle with the Gallagher brothers' dialect, as Dublin was ranked as the tour location where locals are least likely to be able to understand the banter in between songs. With different idioms and speech patterns on both sides of the Irish Sea, Dublin is the city most likely to be stumped by Liam's Manc lingo. Naturally, the city most likely to be able to decipher the Gallaghers' chat is Manchester, but even the Mancunians suffer sometimes. One fan went as fay as to say: 'As a Manc, I think it's safe to say only Liam understands Liam.' Another local said: 'I live just outside of Manchester but work in the city centre. You get so many really thick Mancunian accents just like Liam's and I have to ask them to repeat themselves because I have no idea what they're saying. "It's weird that these people who were raised just 10 miles from me can sound so utterly different.' In second place came London, where the locals have had decades of media exposure to Oasis. Although the Southern accent differs, Mancunian speech isn't totally foreign to Londoners. But still, Liam's fast, clipped delivery and slang-heavy sentences may have taken a moment to register at the recent Wembley gigs. As the first city to see the Oasis Live tour back in July, Cardiff came ahead of Edinburgh as the third city most likely to understand their Manc chat. While Welsh English is distinct, Cardiff audiences are well-versed in UK pop culture, and while the accent itself may sound sharp and unfamiliar, fans were more likely than Scots to have followed what Liam and Noel were saying. More info A former Strictly Come Dancing professional has revealed his enthusiasm for witnessing an all-stars edition of the programme. Ian Waite, who graced the BBC's Saturday night sensation from 2004 to 2010, has floated the idea that a special series featuring fan-favourite pairs who have already appeared on the show could be a major draw for the audience. During an exclusive conversation with BANG Showbiz, Ian opened up about the potential for such a series. He said: "It's definitely something that they could look into because there's so much nostalgia." Ian, who during his tenure on Strictly Come Dancing was paired with well-known figures like Zoe Ball, Denise Lewis and singer Mica Paris, fondly reflected on his previous collaborations. (Image: BBC) He nostalgically recalled his time on the show, commenting: "Everybody loves the old pros from Strictly and the nostalgia that goes around it with certain couples, let's say Darren (Bennett) and Jill Halfpenny and me and Zoe Ball, Vincent (Simone) with Rachel Stevens," reports Wales Online. Convinced that the return of celebrated partnerships would captivate viewers, Ian remarked: "There's a lot of couples that could possibly come back and yeah, an all-stars would be a great thing to do I think." Despite the recent issues that have cast a shadow over the show, including the complaints made by Amanda Abbington about her professional partner Giovanni Pernice in the 2023 season, Ian remains hopeful for the future of Strictly Come Dancing. In general the pros are really professional and really hard-working. In my experience, we've all worked really hard, we've all done competitions, we're all at the top of our game and that's why we're on Strictly. "Hopefully the safeguarding is in place now so that that won't happen again and I think that's the best for everybody really because it protects not only the celebrities but it protects the pros - because who's to say we won't be abused." Ian is currently taking part in The Return of the Legends tour with fellow former Strictly stars Brendan Cole, James Jordan, Pasha Kovalev, and Vincent Simone. He shared: "That's what's been so great, we've got this really great bromance backstage. "I wasn't really sure whether we'd all be able to bond because we've all done our own shows and been very successful performing in our shows. "We weren't sure whether we'd be able to get on but actually it's like a proper bromance backstage and we all love each other. We all appreciate each other." The Return of the Legends tour is set to grace the stages of Llandudno's Venue Cymru and Cardiff's New Theatre later this year. Strictly Come Dancing returns to BBC One and iPlayer later this year.
