Dakota Johnson Shocks 'Today' Show by Dropping Curse Word to Reveal Dating 'Non-Negotiable' After Chris Martin Split

After her split from Chris Martin, Dakota Johnson opened up about her "non-negotiable" when it comes to dating
Multiple sources confirmed earlier this month that Johnson and Martin ended their engagement and their eight-year relationship
Johnson plays a matchmaker in her new romance film, Materialists, out June 13Dakota Johnson knows what she's looking for in a romantic partner.
The 35-year-old actress, who recently split from fiancé Chris Martin, is starring in the new romance Materialists alongside Chris Evans and Pedro Pascal. In the film, she plays a matchmaker, who gets caught in her own love triangle.
On Monday, June 9, Johnson and Evans appeared on the Today show where co-anchor Craig Melvin asked them, 'If either of you were to engage with a real-life matchmaker, what would be the one non-negotiable for you?'
While Evans, who is married to wife Alba Baptista, replied, 'Must love dogs. Gotta love dogs. If you're not a dog person, what are we doing?' Johnson had an arguably more blunt response.
'Like, not an a--h---?' she said as Melvin gasped slightly.
'That's concise,' Evans teased his costar. 'There it is. Nail on the head.'
Melvin joked that NBC would have to 'clean that up for the West Code feed,' as Savannah Guthrie later noted it was proof the show didn't have a seven-second delay.
Johnson laughed off the moment, not commenting on it further. Her candid thoughts come days after multiple sources confirmed to PEOPLE that Johnson and Martin had ended their eight-year relationship.
"It feels final this time," a source said of the split.
The couple were first romantically linked in 2017, and in 2024 an insider told PEOPLE that Johnson and Martin had actually been engaged for 'years.'
While the pair have split, things between the two seem to be cordial. The Coldplay singer promoted Johnson's new film during his June 6 concert in Las Vegas. 'Thank you, everybody! Be kind to each other!' Martin said into the mic, before adding, 'Don't forget to go see Materialists!'
Additionally, Martin's ex Gwyneth Paltrow intends to keep up her 'close friendship' with Johnson. The Goop founder 'fully intends on maintaining that bond,' despite Johnson's split from the Coldplay singer, a source tells PEOPLE.

Michelle Williams on ‘Dying for Sex,' finding the perfect role and embracing pleasure: ‘Can you leave shame at the door?'

Michelle Williams was pregnant when she first realized she wanted to be the one to tell the real life story of Molly Kochan, a young woman with Stage 4 terminal cancer who choses to make the most of her final years by exploring her unmet sexual desires. But there was an obvious roadblock. 'I couldn't do this job and have a baby in my stomach,' Williams shared with Gold Derby. So she reluctantly put the Dying for Sex aside and enjoyed a two-and-a-half year acting hiatus during which she welcomed her third child. More from GoldDerby Critics hail Celine Song's 'Materialists' as an 'exquisitely made' modern love story - not a 'glossy romantic comedy' Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro reunite, tease 'Meet the Parents 4' 'Heartwarming' yet 'bloated': Film critics are mixed on 'How to Train Your Dragon' live-action remake A five-time Academy Award nominee and Emmy winner, Williams has a knack for picking roles worthy of critical acclaim; and she kept coming back to Molly, telling Gold Derby 'I couldn't shake her.' Eventually, she inquired about the current status of the show to discovered it was yet to be cast after all that time — and she knew why. 'This was for me, this must be for me,' she said. 'I had such a strong connection with the material originally. That all this time had passed and it had gone unmade reinforced my magical feeling, my belief that this part and I were meant for each other.' Sarah Shatz/FX Williams was joined on stage in a post Dying for Sex screening panel by her costar Jenny Slate, who plays Molly's real-life best friend Nikki Boyer — Boyer, a producer on the series, was also in attendance along with Rob Delaney ['Neighbor Guy'] and writers and cocreators Kim Rosenstock and Liz Meriwether at the Dying for Sex FX presentation at Disney FYC Fest. Dying for Sex is based on Kochan and Boyer's Wondery podcast of the same name, so the cast was aware of where each boundary-pushing episode may take them as they explored everything from BDSM to animal role play and even golden showers, leaving Williams to wonder each time she received a new script, 'What situations am I going to find myself in?' But the actress admits there was no hesitation with the material, 'There's no 'Oh gosh, I don't want to do that,' or 'I feel uncomfortable.' It's just, I cannot believe that I get to do this crazy mash up of experiences and emotions.' Despite the physical exposure and vulnerability that was necessary in portraying these wild sexual adventures, Delaney says the real work was in examining the emotions behind the behavior. 'The emotional stuff you've really got to strip away and be honest and open. I'll speak for myself but I found that a lot harder than getting [literally] kicked in the balls.' For Williams, in telling Molly's story her own ideas around sex changed. 'Can you feel pleasure without shame?' She personally pondered while speaking with Gold Derby. 'Can you accept what you want and try and leave shame, which seems to be some sort of cultural inheritance as women, but can you leave shame at the door?' Despite her fearless and raw exploration of personal pleasure and sexual desire, when pressed for her conclusion she laughed. 'Working on it!' Ben Stiller and Robert De Niro reunite, tease ‘Meet the Parents 4'

Wanna feel old, Focker? Meet the Parents is turning 25 this October, and to mark the occasion, the cast — including Ben Stiller, Robert De Niro, and Teri Polo — and director Jay Roach reunited at the Tribeca Film Festival over the weekend for a Q&A after an anniversary screening of the comedy. And while the original movie was the night's main topic, the recently announced fourth movie in the series seemed to be on everyone's mind. Last month, it was announced that Academy Award nominee Ariana Grande would be joining the cast. More from GoldDerby Critics hail Celine Song's 'Materialists' as an 'exquisitely made' modern love story - not a 'glossy romantic comedy' 'Heartwarming' yet 'bloated': Film critics are mixed on 'How to Train Your Dragon' live-action remake 'She's got tunnel vision': Wendi McLendon-Covey reveals what she loves most about her character Joyce on 'St. Denis Medical' "I can't really talk too much, I guess, at this point about the movie," Stiller. "But the character [Grande is] playing is — she's going to be really, really funny and kind of the whole engine of the new movie. So it's exciting." "The script is really fun," De Niro said. "I'm looking forward to it." "I fell in love with that script, the first film script … because imagining what it's like when you care so much about winning the approval of someone, and you're right away going to start screwing it up, and the harder you try the worse you're going to make it," said Roach, who is returning to produce the fourth movie. "And I think that's what [writer John Hamburg] has come up with again, and that's what you always need. That predicament is everything in a story. And I think in this one, John found a really great new predicament. I think everybody's going to love squirming through it, just like this." The film will be the first entry in the series since 2010's Little Fockers, which saw Dustin Hoffman and Barbra Streisand returning as the parents of Stiller's Greg Focker. That film went on to gross $310 million at the worldwide box office, but that total marked a low-point for the series and didn't help with the less-than-enthusiastic reviews. But at Tribeca, the original Meet the Parents received a warm reception, something that Stiller called out during the talk afterward. "It's so much fun to hear laughter in a theater with comedy that's 25 years old," he said. "It still works." The film's lasting legacy has had some downside, however. "When someone yells 'Focker!' on the street, it doesn't necessarily feel respectful," Stiller said. Fans React to Judge Dismissing Justin Baldoni's $400 Million Lawsuit Against Blake Lively

Justin Baldoni's $400 million lawsuit against Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds has been tossed out by a judge — and fans aren't holding back their opinions. On Monday, June 9, Judge Lewis J. Liman dismissed the defamation and extortion countersuit filed by Baldoni, 41, and his production company, Wayfarer Studios, against Lively, 37, her husband Ryan Reynolds, 48, and her publicist, Leslie Sloane. The judge also threw out a separate $250 million claim against The New York Times. The court of public opinion is divided as fans took to X (formerly Twitter) to share their thoughts on this new ruling. Some people were happy for the Gossip Girl alum and felt she was finally vindicated. 'If Baldoni's case had credibility, the judge wouldn't have tossed it out,' one fan wrote. 'That's a big win for blake,' a second commented. Another declared, 'Seemed pretty thin from the beginning. Glad it was thrown out.' However, many came to the Jane the Virgin actor's defense. 'It doesn't matter…the world sees blake and Ryan for who they are and they are not supported,' one person wrote. 'This is a technicality….Justin will still have support of the people when this is over. #staystrongjustin.' 'Who says money can't buy you everything,' a second commented. 'Justin Baldoni's countersuit being dismissed DOES NOT mean Blake Lively is telling the truth,' a third fan noted. 'It just shows sexual assault claims—YET TO BE PROVEN—are generally protected.' In his filing, obtained by People, Judge Liman explained, 'The Wayfarer Parties have not alleged that Lively is responsible for any statements other than the statements in her CRD complaint, which are privileged.' 'The Wayfarer Parties have alleged that Reynolds and Sloane made additional statements accusing Baldoni of sexual misconduct and that the 'Times' made additional statements accusing the Wayfarer Parties of engaging in a smear campaign,' he continued. 'But the Wayfarer Parties have not alleged that Reynolds, Sloane or the Times would have seriously doubted these statements were true based on the information available to them, as is required for them to be liable for defamation under applicable law.' According to People, Lively's legal team said that the ruling was a 'total victory and a complete vindication' for the actress. While Baldoni's lawyers have yet to make a public statement, they have until Monday, June 23, to file an amendment. The legal drama between the two stars began in December 2024, when Lively filed a lawsuit alleging that Baldoni sexually harassed her on the set of their film It Ends With Us. Baldoni, who also directed the film, denied the allegations and filed a $400 million countersuit in January 2025.
