Indians Run Miami Hotel's Front Desk Remotely In Viral Video, Leaving Americans Furious

Last Updated: A video shows an Indian man remotely managing a Miami hotel's front desk, sparking debate on social media. Shared by Pete Lang, many criticized outsourcing jobs to India. A video circulating online shows an Indian man remotely managing the front desk of a hotel in Miami, USA, drawing both fascination and criticism on social media. The clip captures a guest checking in through an advanced digital system, communicating with the Indian assistant who appears on a large screen. The video, shared by Pete Lang on TikTok and Instagram, captures his hotel check-in experience with a virtual front desk assistant. In the clip, Lang interacts with the remote employee who appears on a screen, managing the entire check-in process. The assistant asks whether he needs one or two room keys, then proceeds to guide him and generate the registration form, all conducted seamlessly through a video call. 'The Miami hotel has outsourced its front desk to India. Guests are checked in virtually on a video call with an Indian representative. More American jobs are outsourced overseas. At some point, this should just become illegal. If you make money in America, you should hire Americans," one user commented. 'Ridiculous!! They need to tariff these American companies for giving jobs away to another country," another said. A third said, 'Outsourcing has reached another level. India is the biggest beneficiary of this." 'Very cool! Several U.S. cities have had this since COVID-19. Cheaper to hire virtual workers. No workers' comp, benefits, retirement, etc," added the fourth one. Notably, Indian professionals make up a significant portion of the U.S. STEM workforce, with over 70% of H-1B visas in 2023 issued to Indian nationals. Many American companies continue to outsource work to India, drawn by its highly skilled talent pool and cost-effective operations. According to Deloitte, 59% of U.S. firms outsource to India, while 80% of companies in the U.S. and Europe view it as a leading destination for IT solutions. view comments First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. CM Rekha Gupta forms committees for new excise, EV policies in Delhi

Agency: PTI Last Updated: New Delhi, Aug 4 (PTI) Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Monday announced the constitution of two separate committees for the formulation of the excise policy and EV Policy 2.0. The excise policy committee will be headed by PWD Minister Parvesh Verma, while the electric vehicle policy committee will be headed by Urban Development Minister Ashish Sood, she said. In a post on X, the chief minister said, 'Keeping social security in focus, the Delhi government has constituted a high-level committee to formulate a transparent excise policy, which will be headed by Cabinet Minister Shri @p_sahibsingh. 'Additionally, a special committee has been formed under the leadership of Cabinet Minister Shri @ashishsood_bjp to develop an effective and public-oriented EV (Electric Vehicle) policy for Delhi. Our government is committed to the holistic development of Delhi and is continuously taking decisions in the public interest. #ViksitDelhi," she said. 'Our government is dedicated to the people of Delhi and is continuously taking decisions in public interest," Gupta had said earlier. Both the excise policy and EV policy have been extended multiple times in the absence of new policies. In June this year, the government extended its excise policy for the financial year 2025–26. The current policy was extended with effect from July 1 to March 31, 2026. The extended policy, also known as the old excise policy, came into operation in September 2022 after the then Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government scrapped its reformative policy (2021–22) that ran into rough weather amid allegations of irregularities in its formulation and implementation. The Delhi government had extended the current Electric Vehicle (EV) Policy until March 31, 2026, as the draft of the new policy will undergo public consultation, which is expected to take time, Transport Minister Pankaj Singh had said last month. The current EV policy, which was first introduced in 2020 during the previous Aam Aadmi Party rule, lapsed in August 2023. The policy has been extended several times since then.
