PUC seeking community input on Xcel Energy Transition Plan
Xcel Energy has filed for PUC approval of its 2024 'Just Transitioning Solicitation' (JTS) Plan; its primary objectives include fulfilling resource adequacy and providing reliable service, continuing the process on emissions and reductions, and delivering a just transition to communities where generation assets are retiring.
Xcel Energy's Unit 3 coal-fired facility in Pueblo will retire no later than January 2031, and coal-fired facilities in Craig and Hayden are set to retire in 2027 and 2028.
PUC will hold multiple hearings for local community members and other stakeholders to provide comments on the JTS proposal.
'The PUC is hosting these meetings to hear directly the unique needs and perspectives of communities impacted by the retirement of these coal-fired facilities,' said PUC Director Rebecca White. 'Public input is a critical part of the Commission's process to review Xcel Energy's JTS proposal.'
The meetings will be held in:
Pueblo from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at CSU-Pueblo's Hoag Recital Hall on April 17
Hayden from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Hayden Community Center on May 1
Two virtual meetings will also be held on April 28 and June 5. Individuals can also submit public comments through the Commission's Electronic Filing System, using the Commission's online form, emailing dora_puc_website@state.co.us, mailing comments to the PUC's office at 1560 Broadway Suite 250, Denver, or calling (303)-869-3469.
PUC said they will make no decisions or hold deliberations at the meetings.

Toshiba Releases Lens-Reduction Type CCD Linear Image Sensor with Low Random Noise That Helps Improve Image Quality in Devices Such as A3 Multifunction Printers
KAWASAKI, Japan, August 05, 2025--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Toshiba Electronic Devices & Storage Corporation ("Toshiba") has launched a lens-reduction type[1] CCD[2] linear image sensor "TCD2728DG" for A3 multifunction printers. Shipments start today. The sensor has 7,500 image sensing elements (pixels)[3] and supports A3 multifunction printers. It is also more effective at reducing random noise (NDσ)[4] than Toshiba's current TCD2726DG. Business offices are seeing a growing need for high-speed, high-resolution copying and scanning of large volumes of different kinds of documents. This is particularly true for A3 multifunction printers, where improving image quality has become an important issue, and NDσ in the signal has to be suppressed to enhance image quality. TCD2728DG has lower output amplifier gain[5] than Toshiba's current product, TCD2726DG, and reduces NDσ by approximately 40%[6]. This improvement enhances image quality in multifunction printers. The new CCD linear sensor achieves a data rate of 100 MHz (50 MHz × 2 channels), enabling high-speed processing of large volumes of images. This makes it well-suited for line scan cameras used in inspection systems that require real-time decision-making. Toshiba will continue to expand its product lineup to support scanning by multifunction printers and the sensing applications of inspection devices, and to meet growing demand for high-speed, high-resolution imaging and sensing technologies. EU to suspend US tariff countermeasures for 6 months
BRUSSELS (Reuters) -The European Union will suspend its two packages of countermeasures to U.S. tariffs for six months following a deal with U.S. President Donald Trump, a Commission spokesperson said on Monday. The EU-U.S. agreement leaves many questions open, including tariff rates on spirits, and Trump's executive order last week setting tariffs on most EU goods at 15% did not include carve-outs such as for cars and car parts. EU officials have said they expect more executive orders to follow soon.
