Quincy Olivari on whether he will play in summer league
In just a couple of weeks, the Los Angeles Lakers will begin their summer league schedule. It is expected that Bronny James will take part in summer league play, and many people will undoubtedly attend games and tune in on television to watch him start his second year of pro basketball.
Another incoming second-year Lakers player who will appear in summer league play this year is Quincy Olivari. After going undrafted last year, he looked promising in summer league and preseason play, which earned him a two-way contract just after the end of the exhibition season.

He had a number of strong games in the G League, and he confirmed during an exclusive interview with Lakers Nation that he will take part in summer league play this year.
'I will definitely be in Summer League,' Olivari said. 'Talking with my agent, still kind of working through our options, analyzing different situations. Obviously I love the Lakers franchise but I gotta figure out what's best for me. I've done a couple free agent minicamps and I've gone to some teams and got some great feedback, which is also giving me a lot of confidence about what I've been doing this summer has been working. But I will definitely be in Summer League, for sure.'
He also talked about how he's been putting in work and his mindset as far as improving.
'My college coach is now the head coach at Texas, Coach Miller, and so I brought my strength coach from Atlanta and I've been working with Zach Urbanus, who's out here in Austin and we've been at it every day except Sunday. Monday morning, 7:30 I lift and then I come back home and eat, and I go shoot again and then I go do some conditioning. It's almost like a 12-hour day every day. My mantra for next year is to be undeniable.
'It's no question that this kid belongs, that this kid can play. He's gonna make mistakes, but he's got it and we're willing to work with him so once he gets it, we'll see it. I've been kind of like talking to Kurt Rambis on and off throughout this summer and kind of like checking in on him, he's been asking me what I've been working on, like my reads off the ball screen and being able to drive left comfortably and finish around the basket, other ways to kind of find my shot after a pick-and-roll or just like working on catch-and-shoot 3s in the corner.
'Just simple things that will help my game and it will really help. I'm just excited. Next season I want to be undeniable, that's the biggest thing I'm taking into it. I know I'm gonna make mistakes, I know at times I'm gonna make the wrong decision on the court, I'm not gonna play a whole Summer League season or a whole NBA season with zero turnovers, but just making those reads and being more effective around the basket and just continuing to have fun and spread positive light. This game is beautiful when it's played the right way and I'm just so locked in on being undeniable. There's days I don't want to work out, days I don't want to do extra reps and I just close my eyes and I'm like 'This is going to be worth it.' You gotta be undeniable if you want to be one of the best.'
Olivari may or may not end up becoming a full-time rotation player in the NBA. But he did endear himself to Lakers fans with his infectious and positive attitude.
The team does need more serviceable guard depth, and therefore, keeping him around and developing him would be a prudent decision.
The Lakers will start summer league play on Saturday, July 5, against the Golden State Warriors.

Son of NBA Legend Makes Major College Commitment to Big Ten School
Son of NBA Legend Makes Major College Commitment to Big Ten School originally appeared on Athlon Sports. It's not uncommon to see the son of an NBA legend look to follow in his father's footsteps and try to make it to the league. In the case of former Portland Trailblazers legend Brandon Roy, and his son, Brandon Roy Jr., the paths are starting to look very similar. Advertisement On Monday afternoon, Roy Jr. announced that he was committing to the Washington Huskies as a member of the 2025 class. Roy Jr. stands at 6-foot-2, 160 pounds as an unranked shooting guard. Over two decades ago, Brandon Roy joined the Huskies as a 3-star recruit in the class of 2002. He flourished in Seattle, averaging 20 points, five rebounds and four assists in his senior season with the Huskies before being selected by the Portland Trail Blazers with the No. 6 overall pick in the 2006 NBA draft. Roy was incredible with the Blazers, though he saw his career cut short due to injuries. He won the Rookie of the Year Award in 2007, and was a three-time NBA All-Star from 2008-2010. Throughout his career, Roy suffered multiple meniscus tears, and had a degenerative knee condition where the cartilage in his knees wore away, leading to chronic pain and swelling. Advertisement Roy officially retired in 2013 as a member of the Minnesota Timberworlves. Since, Roy has gotten into the coaching world at Garfield, in Seattle, where his son, Brandon Roy Jr. currently plays. Roy was named the aismith National HS Coach of the Year in 2017. Now he gets to see his son try and follow the path that he laid out, with some big shoes to fill. Desmond Bane Caught on Video Reacting to Thunder's NBA Championship originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Orlando Magic star Desmond Bane traveled to watch Game 7 of the 2025 NBA Finals between the Oklahoma City Thunder and Indiana Pacers. Bane, who was just traded to the Magic by the Memphis Grizzlies, will play with Franz Wagner and Paolo Banchero. Advertisement So far, Bane's trade was the most significant acquisition by the Magic following their elimination in the first round of the 2025 playoffs. Many believe that the 6-foot-5 shooting guard will elevate the Magic on both ends. One of the main concerns of Orlando was outside shooting. Having Bane in the lineup solves their number one concern, giving the forward tandem of Banchero and Wagner a third option. Memphis Grizzlies guard Desmond Bane warms up before the game against the Orlando Watters-Imagn Images On Sunday, the Thunder came out victorious over the Pacers and won the NBA championship. Eagle-eyed fans witnessed that Bane attended the game and was filmed while OKC released the confetti, as fans started throwing the championship celebration. Advertisement Bane remained calm, observing the situation, while the fans around him were enjoying the moment. The NBA Finals lasted seven games as the Pacers kept on putting up a fight. However, they suffered an unfortunate setback when Tyrese Haliburton went down with a torn right Achilles injury. Bane is looking forward to playing for his new team. He'll serve as one of the more experienced players on the team. He's been in four playoff appearances and was one of the best performers for the Memphis team in the postseason. In his four playoff appearances, he's averaged 16.9 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.5 assists on 39.6% shooting from deep. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander's Appearance on ‘GMA' After NBA Finals Sparks Reaction
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander's Appearance on 'GMA' After NBA Finals Sparks Reaction originally appeared on Athlon Sports. When you win big, you get to party hard, and nobody partied harder than the Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday night after winning Game 7 of the NBA Finals over the Indiana Pacers in Oklahoma City. Advertisement The 103-91 victory for OKC gave the Thunder their first NBA championship in franchise history, while league MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander also took home Finals MVP after his closeout performance of 29 points and 12 assists. While the post-game celebrations were relatively subdued for a young team that just reached the pinnacle of success, but it appears that they players got after it once they left the arena. The best example of this is SGA's appearance on 'Good Morning America' on Monday morning, where he looked tired, to say the least. Maybe he was tired from a long series against the Pacers, or maybe he was feeling it from a long night out with his teammates. Either way, it was apparent that SGA was less than thrilled to be on live TV on Monday morning. Advertisement "He left Oak Room and hopped straight on camera," one fan commented on social media. "How I be looking on those 8:30am ZOOM meetings," another fan joked. "SGA looks like he had himself a NIGHT," one fan added. While the early-morning interview may have been a hassle, it is part of the gig of winning a championship, and surely something that SGA would sign up for in advance if it meant hoisting a championship trophy at the end of the year. SGA and his teammates better get some rest on Monday night, though, because the championship parade is scheduled to take place in Oklahoma City on Tuesday, starting at 10:30 a.m. and running into the afternoon. Advertisement There will be more partying to be had for the next several days, but that's all part of winning the championship. Sleep can wait.
