Official: Barcelona youngster signs new contract
The player in question? Jofre Torrents.
Torrents, for those not familiar with his name, is an 18-year-old defender, who generally operates at left-back.
The Spaniard has been on the books of Barcelona since 2018, building a reputation for himself as a potential first-team star in the making along the way.
Torrents is cirrently plying his trade with the Blaugrana's U19s, but is expected to be afforded a call-up to Hansi Flick's senior squad for pre-season training this summer.
All associated with the Catalans, in turn, will no doubt be delighted to hear of the latest update on the young defender's future.
As per a statement across Barcelona's website and social media platforms on Tuesday:
'FC Barcelona and player Jofre Torrents have reached an agreement to extend the full-back's contract for three more seasons, so he will remain linked to the club until June 30, 2028.'

Girona fail in audacious bid to sign Barcelona midfielder
Barcelona are expecting to part ways with several players between now and the end of the summer transfer window. Oriol Romeu, Inaki Pena and Hector Fort are strong candidates to leave, while there is also a chance that Marc Casado moves on. In recent days, it has emerged that Barcelona are prepared to listen to offers for Casado, who is not expected to feature prominently in Hansi Flick's side during the 2025-26 campaign. The 21-year-old is competing against Pedri, Frenkie de Jong, Gavi and Marc Bernal in the defensive midfield positions, which will make it difficult for him to have consistent minutes. Marseille have emerged as a suitor for Casado alongside Premier League sides Wolves and West Ham United, but there has also been interest shown from closer to home. As per RAC1 (via Sport), Girona want to sign the pivot on a season-long loan. ImageBarcelona have no plans to accept loan offers for Casado Barcelona are open to selling Casado, but there is no desire for a temporary exit to be sought – and because of this, they have turned down Girona's proposal. It's noted that the player himself is also not interested in a move across Catalonia, especially because he does not think about leaving at all. Casado is confident in his ability to command a regular starting place in the Barcelona line-up, which is why he has no plans to accept a move away – even if the reigning La Liga champions were to accept an offer. Because of this, it is almost certain that he does not leave before the end of the summer. Although there are a number of options in defensive midfield, it must be noted that Bernal will not be able to start matches for some time. Casado will inevitably have his chance to impress, so his confidence is understandable – and equally, Barcelona would be wise to retain his services.

Thursday's reports claim that Juventus have an agreement in principle to send midfielder Arthur Melo out on loan for the fourth consecutive season, as he looks set to return to Gremio, where his professional career began. Juventus agree to send Arthur back to Gremio According to reports from Gianluca Di Marzio, Juventus have a verbal agreement with Gremio to send Arthuur out on loan, which will be his fourth different temporary move away from the OId Lady. The Bianconeri will reportedly formalise Arthur's loan departure on Friday VALLADOLID, SPAIN – MAY 13: Arthur Melo of Girona FC takes a corner kick during the LaLiga match between Real Valladolid CF and Girona FC at Jose Zorrilla on May 13, 2025 in Valladolid, Spain. (Photo by) The former Barcelona midfielder infamously spent the 2022-23 season on loan with Liverpool, where he played for just 13 minutes during the entire season. He then had a more successful time in terms of fitness with Fiorentina in 2023-24, before joining Girona in LaLiga for the second half of the 2025-26 campaign. For Douglas, a move to Gremio will be a homecoming after a seven-year spell in Europe. The 29-year-old spent five years of his youth career with the Brazilian outfit and another three with the senior side before going on to join Barcelona in 2018. Arthur will be the second Brazilian midfielder to leave Juventus in as many days, following Douglas Luiz's departure to join Nottingham Forest in the Premier League, which is expected to be officially announced in the near future.

Outgoing Barcelona star choosing between four clubs
Barcelona are looking to finalise a number of departures before the summer transfer closes in two weeks' time. Oriol Romeu will be the next to leave, with Inaki Pena and Hector also expected to follow him out of the exit door. In the case of Pena, his departure has been put off due to Barcelona's registration woes. Prior to last weekend, he was the only goalkeeper that the club had registered with La Liga, although Joan Garcia has now been signed up. And this means that he will now be allowed to move on, after which the Catalans will also be able to register Wojciech Szczesny. Pena could leave Barcelona in the next 24-48 hours, although it has yet to be decided where he will go. Girona are the latest club to register their interest, and it means that four sides are now chasing his signature, as per Marca. Image via Urbanandsport/NurPhoto via Getty Images As well as Girona, another La Liga side keen on Pena is Celta Vigo. Their interest was stronger prior to bringing in Ionut Radu, although there is still a chance that they make a move to sign him. Como are said to be the favourites to land the 26-year-old, while he could also make a return to Galatasaray – where he has previously been on loan. Pena will sign new contract before leaving Barcelona Recently, it was revealed that Pena will leave Barcelona on loan, rather than on a permanent basis. Club officials want to remain in control of his future, which is why it has been agreed for him to sign a one-year contract extension before leaving, as this will ensure that he returns in 2026. It remains to be seen where Pena ends up in the next couple of weeks, but wherever he goes, he will hope to play a prominent role.
