Indian-origin techie killed in Texas by fellow Indian passenger on moving bus
An Indian-origin entrepreneur was fatally stabbed by a fellow Indian man aboard the moving public bus in Austin on May 14.The victim, 30-year-old Akshay Gupta, was seated when he was fatally attacked by Deepak Kandel, 31, according to a statement from the Austin Police Department (APD). According to the KXAN network, CCTV footage showed Gupta quietly sitting at the back of the bus, looking down and not interacting with anyone. Then, without any warning, the attacker suddenly stood up, raised a butcher-style knife above his head, and stabbed Gupta.Emergency responders attempted life-saving measures, but Gupta was pronounced dead at the scene. Police located and arrested Kandel nearby shortly after. During questioning, Kandel confessed to the murder, bizarrely claiming he committed the act because Gupta "resembled his uncle.""Officers responded to a 'Shoot/Stab' call and located Gupta with trauma to his body," APD reported.Kandel has been charged with first-degree murder and is being held in Travis County Jail.Gupta was a rising star in the health-tech startup space. He co-founded FootBit in Austin, a company dedicated to helping senior citizens improve mobility and balance. Shocking CCTV footage: Telangana MBBS student dies in freak motorbike crash in Vietnam
In a tragic incident, an Indian student pursuing MBBS in Vietnam lost his life in a deadly bike crash in Can Tho city. The deceased, identified as 21-year-old Arshid Ashrith, was a third-year MBBS student. The incident took place on Wednesday when Arshid was speeding on a bike along with a friend. On Monday, a businessman was killed and two people were critically injured in a road accident in Chhattisgarh's Bilaspur. The driver of an Innova opened the door of the vehicle moving at 100 kilometres per hour to spit gutka, causing the vehicle to flip over and crash, the Times of India reported. The accident took place on the Bilaspur-Raipur highway on Monday. The Innova overturned multiple times on the road, hitting two vehicles and also injuring one of its drivers. According to the ToI report citing police, the deceased has been identified as 31-year-old Jackie Gehi, a cloth merchant from Chakarbhatha on the outskirts of Bilaspur. His friend Akash Chandani was driving the vehicle. He suddenly opened the door while driving to spit gutkha. Instantly, he lost control of the car, which swerved into the divider and overturned multiple times. The force of the impact was so high that it threw all three passengers out of the vehicle, which went somersaulting down the highway.
