ONE 172: Tawanchai P.K. Saenchai back to his best in time to face Masaki Noiri in Tokyo

Tawanchai P.K. Saenchai will face Masaaki Noiri for the ONE Interim Featherweight Kickboxing World Title at ONE 172 in Tokyo later this month, and he is set to arrive in Japan very much back to his best.

The Thai star has the skills, the look and the coveted X-factor that make him one of the most electrifying Muay Thai fighters of his generation. By his own standards, though, he had not quite produced the goods in recent fights despite grinding out the wins.
But that changed in his last outing.
At ONE 170, the P.K. Saenchai Muay Thai Gym stand-out produced a stunning knockout to defend his Muay Thai belt in a rematch with kickboxing champion Superbon. The 25-year-old delivered a performance for the ages – expert technique blended with deadly precision – to put away a legend.
Tawanchai is eager to put in another big performance on what will be a stacked card at the Saitama Super Arena on March 23, and relishes the opportunity to fight in Japan.
'I'm very excited for this card, and I'm very happy to be a part of the card in Japan because I really love Japan,' he said.

ONE Championship: Malaysian prospect hopes to become country's first champion

Aliff Sor Dechapan said he is ready to bring a ONE Championship world title back to Malaysia after a breakout performance at ONE Fight Night 32 – and a post-fight face-off with Thai legend Prajanchai PK Saenchai hinted a meeting could be on the cards. The Thai-Malaysian striker impressed at Bangkok's Lumpinee Stadium with a unanimous decision win over Moroccan stand-out Elmehdi 'The Sniper' El Jamari. His slick striking and intelligent game plan lifted his record to 61-9 61-9 – and may lift him into title contention. 'I'm very happy to get a win here,' Aliff told the Post. 'I was sick before, but I just followed my camp plan. Everything is good.' Despite feeling under the weather, Aliff delivered a composed performance from start to finish. He punished El Jamari with a steady stream of kicks to the legs and body, and even landed a spinning back kick flush to the face. Aliff Sor Dechapan (right) in the ring with Prajanchai PK Saenchai. Not a great day for Johans, as Estupinan, Ghazali both lose at ONE Fight Night 32

It was not a great morning for ONE Championship's young wannabes in Bangkok on Saturday. Johan Estupinan had blitzed his way into the organisation as a born entertainer, complete with flamboyant dance moves, backflips, agile kicks and, most importantly, five straight wins. And then, at ONE Fight Night 32, the Colombian ran into his biggest test yet – Taiki Naito, who sent a timely reminder to his doubters having lost his past two contests. Still ranked No 3 in the promotion's flyweight kickboxing division, Naito lived up to his 'silent sniper' nickname in this Muay Thai clash, showcasing some excellent counter-striking and dropping Estupinan with a sharp left hook in round two. That shot proved to be the difference-maker, and the Japanese striker took a majority decision, extending his record to 37 wins and 14 defeats. There aren't many 18-year-olds across any sport with as much buzz and swagger as Malaysia's Johan Ghazali.

Star shuttlers Tang, Tse win silver at Singapore Open

Star shuttlers Tang, Tse win silver at Singapore Open Jordan Tang and Tse Ying-suet (R) were outperformed by their Thai opponents in the final. Photo: AFP The SAR's star badminton duo of Jordan Tang and Tse Ying-suet won silver in mixed doubles at the Singapore Open on Sunday. The Hong Kong, China pair were defeated 16-21, 5-21 by Dechapol Puavaranukroh and Supissara Paewsampran from Thailand. Seeded second in the tournament, Tang and Tse were outplayed by the younger, more lively Thai pair, who came in as the sixth seed in the competition. Despite defeat, it was the second final Tang and Tse made in four appearances, since Tse returned to the court following a surgery. They had won their maiden Asian title in Ningbo in April, in what was their first tournament back together. The star pair will be back in action on Tuesday, when they play in the Indonesia Open alongside fellow SAR shuttlers Angus Ng and Lee Cheuk-yiu in men's singles, as well as the women's doubles pair of Lianne Yeung and Yeung Pui-lam.
