ONE 172: Tawanchai P.K. Saenchai back to his best in time to face Masaki Noiri in Tokyo

Tawanchai P.K. Saenchai will face Masaaki Noiri for the ONE Interim Featherweight Kickboxing World Title at ONE 172 in Tokyo later this month, and he is set to arrive in Japan very much back to his best. Advertisement The Thai star has the skills, the look and the coveted X-factor that make him one of the most electrifying Muay Thai fighters of his generation. By his own standards, though, he had not quite produced the goods in recent fights despite grinding out the wins. But that changed in his last outing. At ONE 170, the P.K. Saenchai Muay Thai Gym stand-out produced a stunning knockout to defend his Muay Thai belt in a rematch with kickboxing champion Superbon. The 25-year-old delivered a performance for the ages – expert technique blended with deadly precision – to put away a legend. Tawanchai is eager to put in another big performance on what will be a stacked card at the Saitama Super Arena on March 23, and relishes the opportunity to fight in Japan. 'I'm very excited for this card, and I'm very happy to be a part of the card in Japan because I really love Japan,' he said.

ONE Championship: Carrillo done at 145lbs – will mega fight with Haggerty ever happen?

Nico Carrillo said he will never again fight at 145lbs (65kg) following his devastating loss to Nabil Anane at ONE 170, putting in doubt his long-mooted all-British mega fight with Jonathan Haggerty. Advertisement And while the Scottish Muay Thai star is eager to right the wrongs of that defeat, it will not be at lightweight. 'My body's fine, but my heart is broken,' Carrillo told the Post. 'That was the least injured I've ever been after a fight, but mentally, it's been tough. 'I've just been obsessing over the next fight – I can't sit at peace until I fix this.' Carrillo was riding a wave of momentum heading into his ONE Interim Bantamweight Muay Thai World Title clash with Anane in January, but it was in Bangkok that everything came to a shuddering halt. The Thai teen sensation dismantled him in the first round, leaving the Scot stunned and unable to continue.

Russell Crowe brings touch of Hollywood magic to finale of thrilling ONE 170

With three explosive finishes across three title fights in Bangkok, ONE 170 was a night to remember. It might even go down as one of the most exciting cards in ONE Championship history. But beyond the action in the ring, the event had a touch of Hollywood magic, with the crew of Russell Crowe's latest film, Beast in Me, on-site filming scenes for the coming movie. The production's grand finale was shot after ONE Featherweight Muay Thai World Champion Tawanchai PK Saenchai defended his title in emphatic fashion against top-ranked contender Superbon. The film's final battle between protagonist Patton James, played by Daniel MacPherson, and his rival Xavier Grau (Bren Foster) took place in the ring, surrounded by a sea of the promotion's signature gold confetti.
