By: Bernama Text Size: Central Spectrum (M) Sdn Bhd, in collaboration with 15 corporate partners, has contributed RM212,000 to support victims of the recent gas pipeline fire in Putra Heights. — Picture by Firdaus Latif KLANG: Central Spectrum (M) Sdn Bhd, in collaboration with 15 corporate partners, has contributed RM212,000 to support victims of the recent gas pipeline fire in Putra Heights, Subang Jaya, as part of its commitment to societal well-being. Central Spectrum chief executive officer Mohd Zapi Abdullah said the contribution will be channelled directly to Tabung Selangor Prihatin to provide vital assistance to affected residents and their families. 'Our collective contribution of RM212,000 is a reflection of our deep commitment to standing with the community during difficult times. 'It is during moments like these that unity, compassion and swift action truly matter,' he told Bernama during Central Spectrum's Raya Open House 2025 at its Sales Gallery in Pulau Indah here yesterday. Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari was also present at the event, alongside community members, corporate partners and dignitaries. The fire incident on April 1 destroyed 81 homes with structural damage exceeding 40 per cent, while 81 homes were partially destroyed. Another 57 homes were impacted but not burned, and 218 homes, including those in Kampung Tengah, Puchong, were unaffected. In line with its tradition of community care, Central Spectrum also presented duit raya to students from Maahad Tahfiz Darul Furqon, Pulau Indah, to bring festive cheer and reaffirm its commitment to nurturing future generations. Mohd Zapi also announced upcoming developments, including a waterfront residential project at Laguna Park and a logistics gateway in Precinct 1B, Pulau Indah. 'These projects are set to drive growth and innovation across Pulau Indah over the next four years. With a steadfast focus on community empowerment, sustainable development, and humanitarian impact, Central Spectrum continues to shape a future where business success goes hand-in-hand with social responsibility,' he said. No plans to contest in any by-election after leaving Umno: Tengku Zafrul

In a statement posted on his social media today, Tengku Zafrul stressed that the possibility of running in a by-election was never part of his decision-making process when he chose to leave Umno. Advertisement 'I would like to make it clear that no discussion related to this matter ever took place, and it was not part of my consideration in making that decision. 'I strongly disagree with triggering by-elections without urgent necessity, as they consume both time and public funds,' he said. Addressing his resignation from Umno, Tengku Zafrul reiterated that it was a personal decision, made without external pressure. 'I acknowledge it was not an easy decision, but I carefully considered all views and opinions before arriving at it. BUSINESS By Anas Abu Hassan KUALA LUMPUR, June 9 (Bernama) -- Malaysian telecommunication companies (telcos) are advised to move beyond traditional tactics and design bold, digital-first strategies that resonate with today's discerning consumers to win in the mature and evolving domestic market, according to a study. A report from GrowthOps Asia noted that the nation's telecommunications industry is undergoing a profound transformation, driven by market convergence, the nationwide 5G rollout, regulatory shifts, and major infrastructure investments. The report, entitled "Winning in Malaysia's Mature Telco Market", revealed that the country's telco market is now highly saturated and competitive, with mobile connections exceeding 129 per cent of the population. 'We are at a pivotal moment in the telco market, where consumers are no longer just looking for connectivity - they want a single, inclusive provider that delivers a suite of services and meaningful value-adds. 'The players who pair innovative products with sharp, relevant go-to-market strategies will be the ones that win," said GrowthOps Malaysia general manager Chris Greenough in a statement to Bernama today. The report also stated that the market is polarised with CelcomDigi Bhd emerging as the dominant leader, holding an estimated 40 per cent market share following its 2022 merger, while Maxis Bhd is positioned as a premium provider, emphasising network quality and loyalty perks. In addition, a cluster of challengers like U Mobile Sdn Bhd and Unifi by Telekom Malaysia Bhd are competing aggressively on value and plan innovation. "Consumer perceptions revealed that while network quality and price remain key decision factors, sentiment towards loyalty rewards programs could create an industry-wide opportunity for differentiation.
