Tony Khan better not screw up AEW's most important booking decision of the year
The main event of All In Texas is AEW World Champion Jon Moxley vs. Hangman Page in a Texas Death match. Hangman earned this title match by defeating Will Ospreay to win the Owen Hart tournament at Double or Nothing.
Moxley has been the world champ since last October, which is around the same time that his Death Riders took over AEW. He put the belt in a briefcase for Marina Shafir to carry around, and we haven't seen the gold since. Hangman has been portrayed as AEW's main character, so it's only fitting that he's the man who will try to free the world title from that briefcase and hold it up for the world to see at AEW's biggest show of the year.
A big part of the story here revolves around Hangman's relationship with Swerve Strickland. They recently sat down to try to let go of their complicated past, which includes home invasion and arson. Both men expressed regrets about their actions in a compelling scene, which Moxley called out as weak 'crybaby crap.' Jon says he won't have any regrets or apologies for the terrible things he does to Hangman during this Texas Death match.

There are no disqualifications in this kind of match, and the stage has been set for all kinds of interference. That may come in the form of Darby Allin, Will Ospreay, the Death Riders, Sting, and even Bryan Danielson. However, the key figure in all of this will be Swerve. Hangman left behind his chain in Swerve's locker room after their talk was over, and Swerve wrapped that chain around his fist while lost in thought. Will Strickland show up to actually help his hated rival win the AEW world title, or will he be there to fuck him over at the most critical time? That's one of the big questions that needs to be answered at All In Texas.
Moxley's world title reign was something of a disaster in its first few months, with underwhelming finishes to his PPV matches, too much attempted murder via plastic bags and toxic chemicals, and poor storytelling as AEW's inept babyfaces couldn't get their shit together to pose a formidable threat to the Death Riders. But the tide has changed over the last few months as the story has focused on Hangman, Ospreay, Swerve, and the Young Bucks.
After sitting through months of Moxley's reign of terror, AEW fans are ready for something incredible to happen at the end of All In Texas. With that in mind, Tony Khan has to make AEW's most important booking decision of the year at All In Texas, and he needs to make sure it's the right one. AEW finally has some good momentum going its way after a rough 2024, but that can change fast if today's main event leaves fans with another bad taste in their mouths courtesy of the Death Riders.
Tune into All In Texas to see what choice Swerve Strickland makes in the main event, and if it's finally time to free the AEW world title from Jon Moxley's briefcase.

The rest of the card
These remaining 11 matches and segments are also currently advertised for today at All In Texas:
'Timeless' Toni Storm (c) vs. Mercedes Mone for the AEW women's world championship
Storm vs. Mone is the biggest women's match in AEW history. Toni is arguably the number one star in the company, with a special gimmick that is unlike anything else in pro wrestling. Mercedes is the undefeated TBS champion who has been busy collecting belts from around the world ever since she joined AEW in early 2024. Toni's goal is to rip Mercedes' tits off and prove that she just can't win the big one. Which women's star is truly the best in AEW? We'll find out at All In Texas.

AEW International Champion Kenny Omega vs. AEW Continental Champion Kazuchika Okada in a winner-takes-all match for the AEW Unified Championship
Omega and Okada bring their storied rivalry to AEW pay-per-view in a match where the winner walks out with three belts, because consolidating belts isn't a thing Tony Khan likes to do. Can Omega and Okada rekindle their old magic one more time at AEW's biggest event of the year?
Okada joined up with Don Callis for this one and put Omega in the hospital by targeting his diverticulitis. That brought Kenny's golden lover Kota Ibushi back to AEW to fight on his behalf. Omega is out of the hospital now and ready to finally end Okada's reign as Continental champion, which is approaching 500 days in length. Is this a match where each star will kick out of the other's finishing move multiple times, or will one Rainmaker or One-Winged Angel be enough to score a three count?
Will Ospreay & Swerve Strickland vs. Young Bucks
This could very well be the match of the night just looking at how skilled all four men are, and you know this bout will get all the time it needs. The stakes are high, as Matthew and Nicholas Jackson will lose their status as EVPs of AEW if they don't win, while Ospreay and Swerve can't challenge for the world title for one full year if they don't win. Ospreay has already gone more than one year without challenging for the world title, but I'm not sure if he realizes that. It's worth noting that Jack Perry has been seen backstage at recent AEW tapings, so perhaps he's ready to return and help The Elite win.

The Bucks, Ospreay, and Swerve may all show up again later in the night to interfere in the main event. Does the outcome of this match affect the decision Swerve might have to make about helping his hated rival Hangman Page?
Men's Casino Gauntlet match
This might just be AEW's most entertaining gimmick match. Two wrestlers start the gauntlet, with new entrants joining the fray at irregular intervals. The match ends as soon as the first fall is scored, so there is no guarantee that some wrestlers will even make it into the ring if their number is too far down the list.
Mark Briscoe and MJF are the first two entrants, and Mark is looking to whoop Max's ass after he recently tried to get heat by bringing up his dead brother Jay. CMLL's top star Mistico is also in the mix, and he has a score to settle with MJF as well. Some other wrestlers who will be ready to join this match include Ricochet, Bandido, and Brody King. Keep your eye out for surprise entrants like Darby Allin, Keith Lee, or Eddie Kingston. The winner of this match earns a world title match whenever he wants it.

Women's Casino Gauntlet match
This is the only women's match at All In Texas besides Toni vs. Mercedes, so pretty much everyone else on the AEW women's roster might show up here if the match goes long enough. Kris Statlander and Megan Bayne kick off the action as the first two entrants. Some of the other wrestlers who have been featured in the build up include Thekla, Queen Aminata, Willow Nightingale, Athena, Thunder Rosa, Tay Melo, Anna Jay, Julia Hart, and Mina Shirakawa. Is there any chance that missing stars like Britt Baker or Hikaru Shida make their surprise return in this one? Just like with the men, the winner earns a world title match at any time of her choosing.
Hurt Syndicate (c) vs. JetSpeed vs. The Patriarchy for the AEW world tag team championship
Bobby Lashley and Shelton Benjamin steamroll through most of their challengers without much trouble, but they walk into this title defense banged up after Christian Cage repeatedly smashed Bob's knee in with a chair on Dynamite. The idea is to create some doubt about the outcome of this match, but I'd say MVP's group is still the overwhelming favorite to retain the gold.
The Opps vs. Death Riders & Gabe Kidd for the AEW world trios championship
PAC is out of action with an injury, so Gabe Kidd is joining up Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuta as they try to win back the trios titles from Samoa Joe, Powerhouse Hobbs, and Katsuyori Shibata. Is HOOK ready to return to AEW and play a role in the finish of this title match?
Adam Cole (c) vs. Kyle Fletcher for the TNT championship
I don't blame anyone who has a hard time remembering that Adam Cole is the current TNT champion. Meanwhile, the Don Callis Family is still trying to recruit former champ Daniel Garcia to turn his back on Paragon and join up with them. Kyle Fletcher might not need any help to win this match given he already has a PPV win over Will Ospreay.
The Outrunners vs. FTR (pre-show)
FTR and The Outrunners used to work out and train together, but that was before Big Stoke entered the picture. Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler have since turned on Adam Copeland and now try to spike piledrive anybody who has a bad thing to say about them. They already picked up a win over Turbo Floyd and Truth Magnum earlier this month on Collision. However, the rematch was made official after Dax took the fall in one of AEW's never-ending series of All-Star 8-man tag team matches.
Big Boom AJ & The Conglomeration vs. Don Callis Family (pre-show)
AEW is Where The Best Wrestle, so the Costco Guy is back for another match. This time he's teaming up with Hologram, Kyle O'Reilly, and Tomohiro Ishii to take on Lance Archer, Trent Beretta, Rocky Romero, and Hechicero. Hologram remains undefeated nearly one year after his AEW debut, so you already know which team is going over.
The Sons of Texas vs. Shane Taylor Promotions (pre-show)
You can't run the biggest show of the year in Texas without including the Von Erichs and Dustin Rhodes, right? Shane Taylor Promotions lose nearly every match they have on AEW programming, and it sure looks like they are here to do the job as well.
Summary
The top four matches at All In Texas carry most of the intrigue and could deliver some of the best wrestling matches of the year. The booking decisions on Hangman vs. Moxley, Mercedes vs. Toni Storm, and the Young Bucks vs. Ospreay & Swerve will go a long way towards shaping AEW's creative direction for the rest of 2025. Can Tony Khan keep AEW's positive momentum going by nailing the booking on his biggest show of the year?

‘Dexter' Has ‘Probably Done a Number on Me,' Says Michael C. Hall: ‘I'm Not Crazy, I Know I'm Not Him'

Dexter Morgan is back, officially, now that Paramount+ with Showtime dropped the first episode of 'Dexter: Resurrection' on Friday, July 11. IndieWire's Ben Travers gave the series cautiously positive marks, writing, 'Dexter's new lease on life may actually be worth waking the dead.' New episodes will continue weekly through September 5. Michael C. Hall has been playing Dexter now, off and on, since 2006. While Hall has certainly appeared in numerous other projects in the 19 years since the pilot aired — from 'The Crown' to 'Safe' and 'Game Night' — the 'Dark Passenger' (Dexter's nickname for his thirst to kill) has been character he just can't shake, though he assured Vanity Fair in an interview that leaves Dexter's unsavory qualities on set. More from IndieWire John Goodman Doesn't Speak to Roseanne Anymore: 'I'd Rather Doubt If She Wants to Talk to Me' Lena Dunham's 'Too Much': A Guide to All Those Cameos - and Each Wink to Her Own Celebrity Lore 'Thankfully, I'm not predisposed to act on the kind of compulsions that Dexter's afflicted by — but yeah, I mean, certainly when we finish shooting a season, I need some time to just put it away, if nothing else,' he explained. 'It's just his life is so stressful. I could never live a life this fraught with stress. I mean, I guess everybody's life is stressful, but Dexter's is sort of beyond.' Hall does speculate, though, on why he is able to play the character, for which he has received six Emmy nominations, so well. 'I'm not crazy; I know I'm not him. I know he doesn't actually exist. He's just words on a page, and a character, and an idea that remains a mysterious one for me. I don't feel that I necessarily have any more of a hold on the character than I ever did. I intuitively know how to play him, but I don't know — he's probably done a number on me that I couldn't even tell you about because the lines are so blurred. But I don't think I'm him, thankfully,' he said. Asked by Vanity Fair what his 'Dark Passenger' was, Hall responded, 'None of your business.' Hall also described the new season — which moves the action from Los Angeles to New York City — as an opportunity for the character to have 'a second chance at life,' saying that Dexter has 'been finally released from what's been a burdensome relationship to his past.' John Goodman Doesn't Speak to Roseanne Anymore: ‘I'd Rather Doubt If She Wants to Talk to Me'

It's been just over seven years since Roseanne Barr was fired from her self-titled series' successful relaunch following a racist tweet about former President Barack Obama's adviser Valerie Jarrett… which she infamously blamed on 'Ambien tweeting.' It has, perhaps not coincidentally, been about the same amount of time since 'Smurfs' star John Goodman has spoken to his sitcom wife. 'I'd rather doubt if she wants to talk to me,' he told The Hollywood Reporter. 'We haven't talked for about seven or eight years.' More from IndieWire 'Dexter' Has 'Probably Done a Number on Me,' Says Michael C. Hall: 'I'm Not Crazy, I Know I'm Not Him' Lena Dunham's 'Too Much': A Guide to All Those Cameos - and Each Wink to Her Own Celebrity Lore Goodman, of course, went on to anchor the spinoff 'The Conners,' which garnered consistently positive reviews, lasted seven seasons and 112 episodes without Barr, whose 'Roseanne' character was killed off. 'I didn't think [the 'Roseanne' reboot] was going to go beyond the initial five or six episodes,' Goodman said. 'I thought it'd be a one-off thing, and then we got picked up, and Roseanne got fired. I thought that was it, and as soon as they dismissed the cast, I picked up 'Righteous Gemstones.' Then we got to do the show again as 'The Conners.' I didn't know how long it would last, but I sure enjoyed it while I was there.' In an expression of his goodwill to the fans, 'The Conners' ended in April with a scene of Goodman alone, breaking the fourth wall and saying 'Good night' while sitting on the show's iconic couch. 'I wanted to do it, and they let me, and they kept it. I thought it was just us saying, 'Good night, folks. Thank you,'' he explained. Goodman's career remains busy as ever. In addition to voicing Papa Smurf in the upcoming animated 'Smurfs' film, out July 18, he's also recently lent his voice to series like 'The Freak Brothers' and 'Monsters at Work' (reprising Sulley from 'Monsters, Inc.'). His HBO series 'The Righteous Gemstones' aired its final episode in May, and he's set to appear in the next Alejandro González Iñárritu film alongside Tom Cruise and Sandra Hüller, due for release in October 2026. 'There are a lot of funny moments in it,' Goodman said, describing the yet-untitled comedy. 'Tom is a force of nature, and it's fun to just hang on and see what he's going to do. He's a 63-year-old professional athlete and artist. He's got the drive and the energy, and I wish I had half of it.' Megan Stalter on ‘Too Much,' Lena Dunham, and Playing Characters Who Are ‘Confident and Nervous at the Same Time'

Not long ago, Megan Stalter — star of Lena Dunham's new Netflix romantic comedy series, 'Too Much' — was still hustling to make a name for herself in comedy. After leaving Ohio in the mid-2010s to pursue an entertainment career, Stalter did stand-up, improv, and other stage work in Chicago until she found an early dose of fame on social media, posting video parodies of cringe women — including a memorable butter entrepreneur who's opening line was 'Hi, gay!' It didn't take long for her to parlay her various pursuits, including a web series called 'The Megan Stalter Show,' into a breakout part on HBO's 'Hacks,' cameos in projects like Julio Torres' 'Problemista,' and other enviable onscreen roles. Her relatively short road to fame, however, was windy enough for her to learn that, whatever medium she was working in, her true passion was to entertain. More from IndieWire John Goodman Doesn't Speak to Roseanne Anymore: 'I'd Rather Doubt If She Wants to Talk to Me' 'Dexter' Has 'Probably Done a Number on Me,' Says Michael C. Hall: 'I'm Not Crazy, I Know I'm Not Him' 'When I was a kid, I always wanted to be an actor. And when I decided that that's what I was going to go for, I found improv and stand-up as a door into performing, and then fell in love with that,' Stalter told IndieWire ahead of the 'Too Much' series premiere on July 10. 'I just think I love performing so much and will always do it.' Stalter added that she appreciates how each phase of her career — from staging offbeat comedy shows to posting humorous videos on social media and working on some of the biggest series in recent years — has brought out something unique in her as a performer. 'Every single chapter of my career has changed me. I was a different performer before 'Hacks,' and now I'm a different performer after 'Too Much.' And I think it's so cool that we can change in our careers, in the way that we perform, like that,' she said. 'It's even fun to think about being back in Chicago and doing live stuff. There was a chapter where I was doing, like, weird burlesque stuff at stand-up shows. It was comedy, but I was always in my bra, spraying whipped cream on myself,' she continued with a trilling laugh. The Cleveland native who now lives in Los Angeles may have come a long way from entertaining on Midwest stages in her undergarments, but there are certainly remnants of that performer in her onscreen roles. In 'Hacks,' Stalter's Kayla, a chaotic nepo baby with a heart of gold, steals the show with her off-the-wall comments and frequent passes at her coworker Jimmy (Paul W. Downs). And in 'Too Much,' her character, Jess, has both vulnerability and awkward charm that immediately draw others in — in addition to regularly appearing in high-waist underwear that Stalter handpicked. Though, she's also very obviously Dunham-esque. 'Too Much,' which is a dream gig for Stalter as a longtime fan of 'Girls,' is loosely based on Dunham's love story with her now-husband Luis Felber, a British musician whom she met after moving to the U.K. in 2021. Taking a page from Dunham — who had a breakup of sorts with New York and TV acting after six demanding seasons of her hit series — Jess moves to London to jump-start her stalled career in production and find a fresh start after a messy split with her live-in boyfriend (Michael Zegen). Almost immediately, she falls for a troubled musician named Felix (Will Sharpe) and gets swept up in a world populated by chic exes and wealthy, rudderless Londoners. And she suddenly finds herself with a new life that's almost busy enough to distract her from what's going on back at home with her ex and his new girlfriend, Wendy Jones (Emily Ratajkowski). While navigating her new reality, Jess often finds herself in uncomfortable or embarrassing situations, which are well-suited to Stalter's brand of comedy and her background in improv. Particularly when playing opposite Sharpe ('The White Lotus'), the comedian demonstrates her talent for creating a character who's relatable and outlandish, endearing but painful to watch — not unlike Dunham, who plays Jess' sister in the new series, back in 'Girls.' 'One of the things that I do a lot, which I feel like comes easy to me, is playing someone that's really confident and nervous at the same time,' Stalter said of Dunham encouraging the actors to improvise uncomfortable moments between Felix and Jess, citing a scene involving a particularly awkward kiss. 'Improvising an embarrassing moment comes most natural to me.' Like 'Girls,' 'Tiny Furniture,' and other projects from Dunham, 'Too Much' takes melancholic turns, with occasionally more serious blow-ups between the lead characters — including one fight that Stalter said 'felt really sad and weird and scary' to film given the usually jovial environment on set. During these scenes, Stalter said, she leaned more heavily on Dunham, who would help her tap into some of the more serious aspects of the series' protagonist. 'She helped me access whatever I couldn't in the moment,' Stalter said, explaining that she'd occasionally struggle to get into the character's mindset because of a long day, little sleep the night before, or not being able to relate. 'If I just connected with her before the scene, I was right there. If I talked to her, then I could cry in every shot. 'I think that it just shows her skills as a director to be able to connect with me like that,' she added, relaying that from their first meeting, she felt as if she had known Dunham forever — although it felt 'surreal' to actually share a set with the multihyphenate. Though 'Too Much' isn't a purely light watch, even the heavier moments in the show elicit a smirk or at least a few laughs, thanks to Dunham's wry sense of humor, Sharpe and Stalter's deliveries, and a star-studded supporting cast featuring some of the most versatile American, British, and European actors in the biz. Richard E. Grant plays Jess' London boss who hosts drug-fueled gatherings for the staff with the help of his wife, played by Naomi Watts. Adèle Exarchopoulos gives a hilarious turn as one of multiple exes named Polly who make up Felix's circle. Rhea Perlman and Rita Wilson appear as Jess' highly opinionated, codependent mother and grandmother. Even Andrew Scott shows up to play a self-serious director whose serial cheating has caught up with him. And Stalter, no stranger to starring alongside big-name actors after four seasons of 'Hacks,' plays off them like a seasoned pro — all while, as she puts it in the press notes, being 'weird and goofy' and 'misbehaving' on set. 'I feel like it is just part of my personality: In high school, I didn't get a good part in the play, but I'd be really funny backstage and too loud during rehearsal,' Stalter said, reviewing her favorite moments from filming, which included working alongside Scott, whom she compares to her beloved 'Hacks' co-star Downs, and Exarchopoulos, whom she describes as intuitively funny and the kind of cool that's only seen in movies. 'But I also think I'm just so excited and happy to be there. From the moment I was, like, 'I'm going to move out of Ohio and do comedy full time,' every part of it has been a dream. I'd be, like, 'I can't believe I'm in improv class. I'm so excited to be here.' And that energy, I think, makes you mischievous and naughty in a good way,' she said, giving a devious smile. There are many more unbelievable and naughty moments to come in Stalter's career, to be sure. But for the moment, she's still basking in the glow of starring opposite the likes of Dunham, Scott, Exarchopoulos, and the rest of the 'Too Much' cast and keeping her expectations for what comes next reasonably low. 'I just, first of all, want to keep going. My goal has always been to write stuff that I'm in. And I really would love to be in something kind of scary. I mean, of course, everybody wants to be in 'The White Lotus,'' the actor said, adding that she'd be more than happy to take on a funny horror film if Mike White doesn't come knocking. 'I think that'd be so cool.' 'Too Much' premieres on Netflix July 10.
