Across the distance, through grief: A mother's visit to her son's grave [WATCH]
SUNGAI PETANI: Driven by longing, Rosidah Ibrahim summoned the strength to embark on a journey of hundreds of kilometres to the cemetery in Sungai Petani, where she visited the grave of her eldest son, the late Muhammad Fazrin Abdul Wahid, who passed away on Oct 27 last year."
Her poignant visit — after travelling nearly 500km from Terengganu to Sungai Petani — was coincidentally captured by the Gurun assemblyman, Baddrol Bakhtiar, who was at the cemetery at the time to pay respects at his own child's grave
The video captured the attention of netizens and has garnered over 579,000 views since it was shared by Baddrol on TikTok two days ago.
It also prompted a heartfelt response from the late Muhammad Fazrin's wife, Nurul Nabilah Rizal, 32, who confirmed that the woman in the video was her mother-in-law, who had travelled from Terengganu to visit her beloved son's grave.
According to Harian Metro, Nurul Nabilah explained that her mother-in-law regularly visits her husband's resting place at the Raudhatul Solihin Muslim Cemetery, where he was laid to rest after passing away from pneumonia.
Nurul Nabilah added that whenever her mother-in-law visits Kedah, she stays at her home—something that has nurtured a deep bond between them.
"As a daughter-in-law, I felt sad and moved when I saw the video because I know how much my mother-in-law loved my husband.
"From that, I could see the sacrifice of a mother who never stops, even though her child is no longer here.
"I understand because my mother-in-law was indeed very close to her son, and my husband was the family's hope as the eldest of eight siblings.
"Besides, my late husband was a good son, always helpful and never raised his voice," she said when contacted by Harian Metro.
Nurul Nabilah shared that although she and her family have come to terms with her husband's passing, the memories they created together remain vivid.
She added that she is committed to maintaining strong ties with her in-laws for as long as she lives.
"I've read the comments from netizens and I'm thankful that many prayed for us and left positive remarks.
"I was truly blessed to have a good husband and a kind in-law family. I hope those who watched the video will pray for my mother-in-law to remain in good health.
"To my mother-in-law, thank you for always visiting my husband's grave and for treating me like your own daughter all this while," said Nurul Nabilah, who is now raising their six-year-old son, Muhammad Ali Al-Uthman Muhammad Fazrin.

Former HK artiste Don Li quits showbiz, clarifies rumours about becoming a monk
Former Hong Kong singer-actor Don Li clarified that his time as a monk was only temporary. Photos: Don Li/Instagram Former Hong Kong singer-actor Don Li has announced his exit from the entertainment industry. In a recent TikTok video, Li, 43, said he hasn't pursued singing professionally for several years and only posts covers of old songs occasionally on the platform. He also took to Instagram to share more about his decision to step away from the spotlight, adding that he's currently working hard to be the best version of himself. 'I hope that my life journey will be quiet. I want to concentrate on work, spend more time with my family, connect with like-minded friends and travel. That's enough for me,' he wrote. Li also addressed the rumours about him becoming a monk, which surfaced earlier in February after he posted photos of himself sporting a shaved head, dressed in monastic robes. The Port Of Call (2015) star clarified that his time as a monk was only temporary instead of a lifelong commitment. 'It's a solemn and serious ritual, so I won't explain too much. Life's journey is divided into many stages, and I currently like myself the most at this stage,' he wrote. Li kickstarted his entertainment career in 2003 after emerging as a finalist in a talent show. He teamed up with singer Mandy Chiang to form a duet act in 2005, but the pair parted ways in 2007 to pursue their music careers as solo artistes.

QuickCheck: Were Labubu sales suspended in the UK over customer brawls?
LOVE 'em or hate 'em, unless you've been living under a rock, it's impossible to escape the Labubu craze. The "creepy-cute" dolls (or just plain ugly, depending on who you ask) have been around since 2015 but recently experienced a surge in popularity thanks to a host of celebrity endorsements. As with all things popular, scalpers and resellers have been quick to hop on the bandwagon to make a quick buck. Even more concerning than that is reports of physical fights breaking out over Labubu dolls. It is claimed that such brawls got so out of hand that the dolls had to be temporarily pulled from UK stores. Is this true? Verdict: TRUE The Labubu character, brainchild of Hong Kong illustrator Kasing Lung, has always had a quiet but loyal following but made its mainstream breakthrough after Blackpink's Lisa was spotted with one. Since then, other superstars such as Rihanna and Dua Lipa have been seen with the quirky bag charms, cementing Labubu's place in the pop culture hall of fame. For those who are not in the know, the dolls are sold in blind boxes, meaning one will not know the specific design they are getting until they actually open the package. This has led to harmless shenanigans such as rattling or weighing the box to try to identify which design is inside, or even community elements such as trading Labubus. Unfortunately, the craze, combined with the blind box "gambling" element, has also birthed more unsavoury elements. For example, rarer Labubus are resold for multiple times their retail price, sometimes reaching up to hundreds or even thousands of ringgit for a single doll. Recently, reports of brawls and safety concerns due to surging demand have forced Pop Mart, the producer of the toys, to temporarily pull Labubu from UK stores. Chaotic scenes of long queues and customers fighting to get the popular dolls regularly go viral on social media. One TikTok video from user @victoriamarie02x captured people in balaclavas at a Pop Mart location in Westfield. "Don't risk your life for a Labubu," read the caption. In another TikTok, Mal Nicol, known for her participation in the reality show "Love Island", revealed that she got into a fight with another customer at a London branch over the plushies. "This woman, she bought five. It's actually ridiculous," Nicol said in her video. According to the BBC, Pop Mart said it is working on "a new release mechanism that is better structured and more equitable for everyone involved" before the dolls return to physical stores in the UK. Zhang Yaodong expresses gratitude for support over being a stallholder in SG
Zhang Yaodong formally introduced his stall in his first-ever TikTok, after he was spotted manning the stall in early June. Photos: Zhang Yaodong/TikTok, Xiaohongshu More than a week after Zhang Yaodong was spotted manning a steamed food stall in the Tampines industrial area, the Singapore-based Malaysian actor took to TikTok on June 11 to express his gratitude to his friends and supporters. The 47-year-old filmed it within the vicinity of his stall, starting the video by briefly panning over the signboard to show its offerings. Tagging the location as a coffeeshop at Blk 9012 Tampines Street 93, the former Mediacorp artiste formally introduced his stall in his first-ever TikTok. He wrote in the caption: 'A new beginning. Thank you for being part of it. That day at the stall was a wake-up call. Your kindness gave me strength to reflect and figure out my next steps. The road ahead is mine to walk — and it's a path I've chosen for myself. I'll be sharing this journey with you.' In early June, a social media user posted the first sighting of Zhang standing in front of the cash register and appearing to be taking orders from customers. Amid the hustle and bustle, the user noted that he was polite and humble, and he was working that day because his employee had resigned. On March 18, a Facebook post by the Tampines Small and Medium Enterprises Association (TSMEA) indicated that Zhang's stall was newly opened during that period and serves traditonal steamed dishes like egg, meat, fish and prawns. Zhang said in his video: 'I know there were many friends, even loyal customers, who took pictures of me helping out here last week. I am very grateful for all the encouragement I've received on social media. 'I would like to take the opportunity to thank the people by my side who have been silently supporting me, as well as the friends who have come over after seeing the reports.' He also credited his long-time friend Catherine Chew for encouraging him to create a TikTok account. 'I'm touched by her sincerity, as well as her eagerness for the public to see another side of me. She has also introduced me to several bosses, who want to collaborate with me on TikTok in the future.' The bachelor's image took a hit in July 2024 when rumours surfaced about him fathering children out of wedlock with women of different nationalities. In November 2024, Zhang took to Instagram to commemorate his holiday to South Korea with his two daughters, confirming his fatherhood for the first time. In February, Mediacorp's talent management agency The Celebrity Agency stated it was no longer representing him and he has not participated in the filming of any new shows. – The Straits Times/Asia News Network
