Tommy Dorfman Files to Divorce Elise Williams After Nearly 2 Years of Marriage
The former couple met on the Hinge dating app in 2021 and got engaged just two months into their relationship. Dorfman later revealed that the two secretly eloped in late 2023
The news of their split comes five months after Dorfman seemingly hinted at their breakup in a post shared to Instagram in late December 2024Tommy Dorfman and Elise Williams are going their separate ways.
On Friday, May 16, Dorfman, 33, filed to divorce Williams in New York City after nearly two years of marriage, per online records viewed by PEOPLE.
PEOPLE has reached out to Dorfman's reps for comment.
The former couple first met on the Hinge dating app in 2021. In a 2024 essay for Vogue, the 13 Reasons Why alum revealed that the two got engaged after just two months of dating — a milestone she first publicly announced in August 2022, during an appearance on Rachel Bilson's Broad Ideas podcast.
At the time, she kept Williams' identity a secret and simply revealed that she had fallen in love with "a gay girl" after being previously married to her ex-husband, Peter Zurkuhlen.
Despite their speedy engagement, Dorfman wrote in her Vogue essay that the former couple "waited a full 12 months before moving in together" though they took in a Great Dane puppy after six months of knowing each other.
"That's the thing about falling in love though; your responsibility barometer isn't always where it should be. Love, for us, required that nauseating combination of naiveté, delusion and fate," she wrote at the time.
In May 2024, the Love, Victor actress revealed in a since-deleted Instagram post and in Vogue that the two secretly eloped at the end of 2023.
"I married my best friend and didn't tell anyone except @hunterabrams who came and photographed us towards the end of last year," she wrote in the caption of her Instagram post. "we bought our own dresses @doverstreetmarketnewyork where i used to work before acting, and it was perfect. also thank you @liamnhess and @guiducci ♡" she wrote on Instagram.
Dorfman later wrote in Vogue that she and Williams were "sitting perched above the shoreline in Malibu," joking about same-day marriages when the thought of eloping became serious.
After a quick Google search, they discovered California offered same-day wedding services and confidential marriage records, leading to them tying the knot before heading to a concert later in the evening.
"I fell in love with someone who doesn't fetishize me," Dorfman said at the time of the relationship with her fiancée and of the pressure of being a trans woman in the dating world.
The news of their split comes less than five months after Dorfman seemingly hinted at their breakup in a post shared to Instagram.
Alongside a carousel of images highlighting some of her "random memories" in 2024, the actress gave some "vague context" to the corresponding snaps in her caption.

"1: heartbreak feels good in a place like this (i wrote this entirely original line)," Dorfman wrote of a bare-faced selfie, referencing Nicole Kidman's iconic AMC commerical.
In another slide, she shared a photo of her dog Fiona and wrote that her pet was "managing better than i" in their new home where they lived "just the two of us."
Other photos included a mirror selfie in which Dorfman showed off her leg. In reference to the picture she wrote, " i sent this to a boy and got no response so that's good."

FANTASTIC FOUR Director Releases Scene Featuring The Thing on THE DATING GAME and Explains Missing Footage in the Film — GeekTyrant
The Fantastic Four: First Steps was a crowd-pleaser, but one gripe some fans voiced was the fact that some of the scenes, and even one character, we saw in the trailers were missing from the final film. While director Matt Shakman has already addressed the unfortunate necessity to cut John Malkovich's character from the film, and he is now talking about some of the other footage that fell to the cutting room floor. In a recent interview with Collider, Shakman explained the editing process for the film, and disclosed that they were working the footage while the movie was in production. He added, 'It helps you realize what you're shooting to edit as you go, down to, 'I'm missing a shot here. I need something else here, too. Oh, wow, this connection is so great. I need to do more of that or less of this.'' He went on to explain why they consciously wrote and filmed additional scenes that were ultimately left behind in the editing room. 'We intentionally wrote and shot a lot more than we ended up using or needing to use for their past. There's a ton of stuff that you've seen probably bits and pieces of — the tour of the Baxter Building or Reed's Mister Fantastic show, or even Ben on The Dating Game .' Shakman elaborated that they shot these scenes because they knew they needed to 'build a big world,' and 'explain what they've [the heroes] been doing for four years, because our movie started four years after that.' He stated that while they eventually didn't use it all, the fact they knew that they had more footage was 'helpful.' You can check out the Ben Grimm Dating Game footage below, which was reportedly developed as a proof of concept even before production started. It's a lot of fun, and we will hopefully get to see even more of it when the film is released to own. The Fantastic Four: First Steps is currently in theaters.
