Some question $6.5M spent on new office space by DeKalb Co. school system
Dekalb County Schools is answering questions about more than $6 million spent on a new office space.
At the Dekalb County Schools Administrative Complex on Mountain Industrial Boulevard, things are cramped.
It was after office hours when our cameras got video of desks in hallways.
Another desk sits in a storage closet.
And in what was meant to be an office for one, is a place where four people work each day.

'We have people that are working in hallways, they're sharing cubicle spaces, they're sharing offices,' Jennifer Cracciolo with Dekalb County Schools told Channel 2′s Candace McCowan. 'Since 2023 it was first identified, so we've been working with local real estate agents to find a space.'
The district purchased a building off Park Lake Drive North East for $6.5 million late last year.
The building, previously owned by Kroger, only needs paint and carpet according to the district.
The purchase, discussed and handled in executive sessions or closed-door meetings, came as a surprise to some.
'I wish we as a community would've had more input in the process and I'm just curious how did the process go,' Donna Priest-Brown, who believes the funds could've been used on buildings where students learn each day said. 'HVAC, roofs.'
The district said the money is coming from their fund balance.
The district is also promising more transparency in the future.
'We did purchase this in November and we do apologize that we didn't share it publicly at that time,' Cracciolo said.

JSO searching for suspect involved in hit-and-run crash on Moncrief Road
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is looking for a man involved in a hit-and-run crash at Moncrief Road. Police say it happened around 8:55 p.m. in the 4900 block of Moncrief Road West. The man was crossing the road on an electric stand-up scooter when he was hit by a Ford truck going north. ‘No Kings' protests expected to draw thousands across north Georgia on Saturday
Thousands of people are expected to participate in protests across north Georgia on Saturday. Organizers are planning nearly two dozen protests all across metro Atlanta and north Georgia as part of the nationwide 'No Kings' demonstrations against President Donald Trump and his policies. More than 5,000 people are expected to crowd into Liberty Plaza at the Georgia State Capitol as part of the demonstration.
