The Green Bay Packers and head coach Matt LaFleur will enter the 2025 NFL season as a team many expect to be a contender in the NFC.
Led by Jordan Love, the offense looks to be explosive with elite young talent at the wide receiver position. They also have Josh Jacobs leading the way on the ground.
Defensively, the Packers look to have the talent needed to be very competitive. There are still questions about the cornerback position and the pass rush, but second-year defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley will have his unit flying around the field making plays.

Pro Football Focus analyst Dalton Wasserman took a look at the top 10 returning head coaches entering the 2025 season. LaFleur didn't even make the cut for him.
On the list in order were Andy Reid, Sean Payton, Sean McVay, John Harbaugh, Mike Tomlin, Jim Harbaugh, Kyle Shanahan, Nick Sirianni, Dan Campbell, and Kevin Stefanski.
Most of those names do belong on the list. However, there are real questions about how Stefanski made the list over LaFleur.
To this point in his career after taking over as Green Bay's head coach ahead of the 2019 NFL season, LaFleur has led the team to a 67-33 record. He has been to two NFC Championship Games and has only missed the playoffs in one out of his six seasons as the Packers' head coach.
As for Stefanski, the Cleveland Browns' lead man has compiled a 40-44 career record since taking over in 2020 and has led the team to two playoff appearances in five years.

This is not a slight towards Stefanski. Rather, it's a simple acknowledgment that LaFleur has a better record and has led his teams to more success. Even after Green Bay traded legendary quarterback Aaron Rodgers and were expected to rebuild, LaFleur has led them to the playoffs in two straight years.
Despite the disrespect, the Packers' head coach is simply focused on winning. He wants to bring a championship back to Lambeau Field and "Titletown."
It's about time for the NFL take take notice of just how elite of a head coach LaFleur has been throughout his career and see the trajectory he has the franchise heading in even without Rodgers leading the charge.

Bucs GM 'Very, Very Excited' About Next Season

Bucs GM 'Very, Very Excited' About Next Season originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are on quite a run of postseason play. After winning the Super Bowl with Tom Brady under center after the 2020 season, the Bucs have rattled off a record-tying four straight NFC South division titles. Advertisement It's a success that they hope to continue in 2025. Last season, Tampa Bay was bounced from the playoffs in the Wild Card round by the upstart Washington Commanders, who advanced to the NFC Championship game for the first time since 1991. But general manager Jason Licht believes this season could be different, and there is reason for excitement. "I think we have a sneaky, very sneaky, very talented, young team. I know we've got some veterans like Mike, Chris and Vita, Lavonte, but we've got some answers behind them too," Licht said on the Sports Day Tampa Bay podcast with Rick Stroud. "I'm very, very excited about this team. I like our team. I like it a lot. We've got a lot of talent, but more importantly, I think we've have the right kind of people and this team has a lot of chemistry right now. Advertisement "And the culture, because of the type of players we have, but the type of culture that Todd manifests and fosters here as the head coach, because I mean, he's the leader of this team. ... I'm very, very excited.' There was a special focus on defense this offseason, and Licht has addressed that in free agency and the draft. It's hoped the defense can be just as effective as the offense was last season and is expected to be again after returning all 11 starters on that side of the ball. Buccaneers' Jason Licht Gushes As 'Top Unit' Projection In 2025

Buccaneers' Jason Licht Gushes As 'Top Unit' Projection In 2025 originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers offense in 2025 is poised to be one of the most explosive in football, with the weapons at Baker Mayfield's disposal ridiculous. Advertisement A receiver room housing Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, Jalen McMillan, and Emeka Egbuka, coupled with tight end Cade Otton and running backs Bucky Irving, Rachaard White, and Sean Tucker, is the envy of the league. However, having those weapons is all well and good; however, it means nothing if Mayfield doesn't have time to get the ball out or if the run game can't get going. Enter the offensive line. And what general manager Jason Licht called in a chat with Tampa Bay Times' Rich Stroud, one of the best units in football. 'It feels awesome," Licht said. "I'll flashback to the first half a decade I was here. It was my dream to one day have five solid starters, like we have right now, that arguably could be potentially the top unit in the NFL. It's not crazy to say, you know?' Oct 27, 2024; Tampa, Florida, USA; Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield (6) and center Graham Barton (62) warm up before a game against the Atlanta Falcons at Raymond James Stadium.© Nathan Ray Seebeck-Imagn Images Another underrated aspect of the Buccaneers' offensive line heading into 2025 is that all five starters from last season are returning. Advertisement Tristan Wirfs, Ben Bredeson, Graham Barton, Cody Mauch, and Luke Goedeke all will be running it back with Mayfield. The cohesion and chemistry built last season will only improve further with another full offseason and then 17 games during the year. The Buccaneers had a top run game last season (146.5 per game, ranked fifth), and the offensive line was a big part of that. Mayfield threw for 4,500 yards and 41 touchdowns, with the line protecting Baker well (40 sacks, 10th-worst). So it is no wonder Licht is excited for what the offensive line can become in 2025, but as far as the best unit in football? We'll let the cake bake on that. Big Aaron Rodgers Announcement Crushes Patriots' Dreams

Big Aaron Rodgers Announcement Crushes Patriots' Dreams originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The New England Patriots pass rush was the worst in the NFL last season, with just 28 sacks, placing them 32nd out of the 32 teams. But according to media speculation this week, New England could have one trade in mind to solve the problem. Advertisement New head coach Mike Vrabel has taken steps to upgrade the pass rush, but according to Patriots correspondent Jordy McElroy of USA Today Patriotswire, New England could seal the deal by targeting Pittsburgh Steelers seven-time Pro Bowl pick T.J. Watt in that trade. Aaron RodgersCredits to Imagin Watt will be entering the final season of his four-year, $112 million contract with the Steelers, and remains in a standoff with the team over a potential new deal. Without one, he becomes a free agent after the 2025 season — which makes his asking price in a trade probably more reasonable than it otherwise would be, if he were not on an expiring deal. Watt has led the NFL in sacks three times in his eight-year career. Last season was a "down" year for the 30-year-old linebacker, and he still piled up 11 1/2 sacks. Acquiring him could solve New England's pass rush problem overnight. Advertisement But speaking on ESPN's Pat McCaffee Show on Tuesday, new Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers made an announcement that in all likelihood crushes the Patriots' dreams of trading for Watt. "I'm pretty sure this is it. That's why we just did a one-year deal," the 20-year veteran and future Hall of Famer told McCaffee, confirming that he plans to retire after the 2025 campaign. "Steelers didn't need to put any extra years on that or anything. This was really about finishing with a lot of love and fun and peace for the career that I've had." How does that affect the Patriots? According to McElroy, with Rodgers in his final season, the Steelers seem unlikely to part with Watt. "Perhaps the Steelers are putting all of their chips on the table with the Rodgers signing and going all in for a final Super Bowl run," the Patriotswire scribe wrote on Wednesday. "If that's the case, they likely wouldn't be in the market for moving on from one of the best defensive players in the league." Advertisement With nearly $61 million in remaining cap space, Watt would not cause any financial issues for the Patriots. But Rodgers' retirement announcement appears to make it a moot point anyway.
