Wednesday stars attend Australian event as major announcement for hit Netflix series revealed

Warning: Contains spoilers from Wednesday Season 2, Part 2 The stars of Netflix's hit series Wednesday descended on Sydney's Cockatoo Island on Thursday afternoon – and the overcast Sydney weather was a perfect backdrop for the event. Advertisement Clad in her character's signature dark attire, titular star Jenna Ortega put on a haunting appearance alongside Emma Myers, who plays her cheerful best friend Enid Sinclair, as they attended an 'Outcast Assembly' on the famed island to promote Season 2 of the gothic series. Joining them at the event was the master of the macabre himself, Tim Burton, who is the director and executive producer of the show. 'I love the character,' the Oscar nominee told the crowd about the iconic Wednesday Addams. 'I agree with everything she says, everything she feels about family, school, psychiatry, and society, so that's why we're here in this beautiful place. It's something I really identify with.' 6 Emma Myers (left) and Jenna Ortega attend the 'Wednesday' S2, Part 2 'Outcast Assembly' on Cockatoo Island on August 14, 2025, in Sydney, Australia. The group has visited England, Poland, Italy, France, Romania, the US, Canada, and South Korea. But they left a major announcement for their last and final stop in Sydney. In dramatic scenes, actress Gwendoline Christie emerged from behind a giant moon suspended from the warehouse ceiling to reveal in a world-exclusive announcement that her character, Nevermore Academy headmistress Larissa Weems, will be brought back from the dead in Season 2. 6 In dramatic scenes, actress Gwendoline Christie emerged from behind a giant moon suspended from the warehouse ceiling to reveal that her character, Larissa Weems, will be brought back in Season 2. Fans would know that Weems, a shapeshifter, was the former roommate of Wednesday's mom, Morticia Addams (Catherine Zeta-Jones), when they were at school and would later become the principal of Nevermore Academy, where Wednesday and Enid attend. 6 'Did you really think Nevermore would let me go so easily?' her voice echoed in the warehouse. 'This season we'll see a difference of Larissa Weems' suffering,' Christie later told the crowd, which was filled with superfans dressed in the purple Nevermore uniforms. 'It's such an honor,' Ortega said from the stage when asked about being back in black as Wednesday. Season 2 sees Wednesday return to Nevermore Academy with her razor-sharp remarks and deadpan demeanour. Armed with her sharp detective skills, she soon finds herself obsessing over a new supernatural mystery that sees her get up to all sorts of kooky mayhem. It's worth noting that Season 1 premiered with all eight episodes in one drop, whereas Season 2 premiered with only the first four episodes, with Part 2 premiering on Netflix on September 3. Therefore, expect another viewership spike next month. Advertisement Wednesday Season 2: Part 1 is now streaming only on Netflix. Wednesday Season 2: Part 2 will be available on September 3

In a Leather Trench and Boots in Hand, Jenna Ortega Takes Beach Goth Style to the Extreme

Jenna Ortega's press tour for Wednesday has been a goth girl triumph—with the help of her stylist Enrique Melendez, the duo have crafted a wardrobe that expands the gothic universe of the show beyond any other attempt at celebrity method dressing. The actor has slipped into pirate witch-esque Vivienne Westwood, champagne silks, freaky Simone Rocha prints, and an elevated pair of mall goth boots. But a stop-off in Australia posed some questions—how does Wednesday Addams-core translate to Bondi Beach? Well, Jenna Ortega has come with the answers. Photo: Backgrid Photographed on the famous Sydney beach in between promo duties, Ortega wore a long leather trench coat tied at the waist with a nude slip underneath, with black, elongated cat eye sunglasses. She was wearing a pair of black buckle biker boots, but kicked them off to paddle her feet. While Ortega's group of friends dressed more for the coastal setting in denim, tanks, and shorts, Ortega stayed committed.

‘Wednesday' Season 2 Part 2 Trailer Surprises Fans With Return of Principal Weems and Hint at Lady Gaga

As we wait for the next semester of Nevermore Academy for season 2 of Wednesday, fans have been waiting for a glimpse as to what happened to the iconic Addams Family character after the end of part one. But in a new trailer that was revealed by Netflix, that's not even the most surprising part that we can expect in the second half of season 2. Netflix dropped the new trailer for Wednesday season 2, part 2 and it shows that not only is Wednesday alive (well, duh!) but that her spirit guide is finally here and ready to help her, despite it being the last person she ever expected. Check out the trailer below to find out who it is: That's right, it's none other than Principal Weems! Despite the fact that the character died at the end of season 1, Gwendoline Christie is back! The big return was revealed by Netflix shortly before the trailer was posted with a special video that featured Christie at a Wednesday event. "Did you really think Nevermore would let me go so easily?" she said in a voiceover before surprising a massive crowd. "I was never just stopped looking." The trailer also gave us a bit of a listen to Lady Gaga's mysterious appearance that is also set to happen in part 2. In the trailer, she can be heard saying, "Beware. There will be a price to pay." Okay, Mother Monster! Not spooky or cryptic at all! Unfortunately for us, we still have to wait a bit longer for the show's return on September 3rd to really see how it all ends. If you need us, we'll be rewatching part 1 in anticipation of all that is to come!
