CB Jalen Ramsey named top trade target for Arizona Cardinals

CB Jalen Ramsey named top trade target for Arizona Cardinals Pro Football Network believes the Cardinals should trade for Dolphins CB Jalen Ramsey. In the dead of the offseason, proposing trades is always content that we can consider. Several players are considered on the trading block like Cincinnati Bengals pass rusher Trey Hendrickson and Miami Dolphins cornerback Jalen Ramsey. Pro Football Network proposed a trade candidate for each team to acquire. For the Arizona Cardinals, that is Ramsey. The Cardinals' offense was elite last season, but to truly contend for the playoffs, they need a better defense. Trading for a proven veteran like Jalen Ramsey could lift the entire group. Now in his 30s, Ramsey has shown some signs of slowing down, but he's still among the game's top corners. Teams targeted him 71 times in 2024, and he allowed a 62% completion rate and an 83.2 passer rating. It's unclear if the Miami Dolphins will actually deal him, but the two sides mutually agreed to explore trade options earlier this offseason. Miami would save $9.9 million against the cap if they move him after June 1. The Cardinals' passing metrics ay they need help in the secondary. They "finishing 27th in PFSN's Defense+ metric" and "also posted the worst pass defense success rate in the NFL at 50.2%." But would acquiring Ramsey make sense when the Cardinals are bullish on their young group of cornerbacks? Sean Murphy-Bunting's season-ending offseason knee injury was almost a blessing in disguise because now it allows 2024 second-round Max Melton and current second-round pick Will Johnson to play. Is Ramsey currently better than either of them? Surely, but what will Miami want in return? Acquiring Ramsey is more for a team who needs a final piece to make them more of a playoff contender. The Cardinals will compete to make the postseason, which means Ramsey might help, but will he fit long-term? The Cardinals are looking for something now and in the future. The Cardinals won't deal for Ramsey, but he would make the secondary really fun to watch. Squandered opportunities early cost Hurricanes in Game 1 of Louisville Super Regional

The Miami Hurricanes dropped game one of the NCAA Louisville Super Regional, falling 8-1 Friday at Jim Patterson Stadium in Louisville. A five-run third inning propelled the Cardinals while the Hurricanes struggled to convert early opportunities – stranding eight runners over the first four innings. Miami starter AJ Ciscar (6-2) took the loss after allowing six earned runs on seven hits over 2 1/3 innings. Louisville right-hander Patrick Forbes (4-2) earned the win, striking out nine while surrendering just one earned run on four hits across 5.2 innings. In the top of the second inning, the Hurricanes missed a prime scoring opportunity with the bases loaded and one out after two walks and a hit batter from Louisville starter Patrick Forbes. But Forbes bounced back with a pair of strikeouts to escape the jam unscathed. With momentum shifting to the Cardinals, Louisville responded in the bottom half with back-to-back home runs from Garret Pike and Jake Munroe, giving the Super Regional host a 2-0 lead. In the following inning, Daniel Cuvet was hit by a pitch, Dorian Gonzalez Jr. doubled to right, and Derek Williams worked a walk to load the bases for the second consecutive frame. Senior Renzo Gonzalez followed with a sacrifice fly to left, bringing home Cuvet and trimming Miami's deficit to 2-1. Louisville broke the game open in the fourth inning, capitalizing on a series of miscues and timely hitting. After a leadoff groundout, Gavin Klein doubled down the left field line and Will Rose was intentionally walked. A hit-by-pitch loaded the bases, setting the stage for Louisville's offensive attack. Pike reached on a fielder's choice to the pitcher and advanced to second on a throwing error, which allowed two runs to score. Munroe followed with a three-run homer to left, extending the Cardinals' lead. The inning continued with back-to-back singles from Tague Davis and Kamau Neighbors, prompting a pitching change as AJ Ciscar was relieved by Josh Dorn, who finished the inning. Miami's bullpen limited the damage, allowing just one additional run on a sacrifice fly from Munroe in the fourth. However, the Hurricanes' offensive struggles persisted, finishing 0-for-11 with runners in scoring position and 2-for-16 with runners on base. Miami (34-26) will look to even the series and avoid elimination on Saturday against Louisville at 11 a.m. in a game that will be televised on ESPN.

Arizona Cardinals could re-sign 2 players if competition at their positions isn't great

Arizona Cardinals could re-sign 2 players if competition at their positions isn't great Will Hernandez and Kyzir White remain unsigned this offseason. The Arizona Cardinals appear to have completed the offseason moves they intend to make for the roster. They added many defensive players, improving the defensive front seven. They still have questions at a couple of positions currently, though. Right guard and inside linebacker appear to have wide-open competitions. But if no one stands out, the Cardinals could bring back a familiar faces. Who are the two unsigned free agents the Cardinals could bring back? OL Will Hernandez Hernandez is coming off a torn ACL so he might not be healthy yet, but if the Cardinals discover that Isaiah Adams, Royce Adams and others are not standing out enough to be the starter, you might see the Cardinals re-sign him close to training camp. And his return seems possible, as the Cardinals did not assign No. 76, his number for the last several seasons, to any other player. LB Zyzir White 'White remains unsigned. The Cardinals signed Akeem Davis-Gaither in free agency and drafted Cody Simon in the fourth round. Davis-Gaither has only started 11 games in his career and Simon is a Day 3 rookie. White's No. 7 now belongs to backup quarterback Jacoby Brissett but perhaps would be an option if neither Davis-Gaither nor Simon show enough to start.
