Rialto Distribution has acquired worldwide rights to Tinā and is planning a nationwide U.S. theatrical release on August 29 for Labor Day weekend.
The film, written and directed by Samoan-New Zealand filmmaker Miki Magasiva, premiered at the 2024 Hawaii International Film Festival, going on to garner multiple accolades including the Best Narrative Feature Award at the 2025 Palm Springs International Film Festival and the Golden Space Needle Award at the Seattle International Film Festival.

Tinā has grossed over $10 million in box office revenue across New Zealand, Australia and the Pacific and currently stands as the most successful New Zealand release in nearly a decade. Rialto Distribution will spearhead the rest of the film's international rollout (excluding Australia and New Zealand) following its U.S. debut.
Magasiva's feature debut is the deeply moving story of Mareta Percival, played by Anapela Polataivao (Our Flag Means Death, Night Shift), a grieving mother still mourning her daughter's death in the 2011 Christchurch earthquake. When she reluctantly takes a substitute teaching role at an elite, predominantly white, private school, she draws on the musical traditions of her Samoan roots to form a rebellious, soulful student choir, rekindling connection, identity and healing across generations.
The film also stars Antonia Robinson (The New Legends of Monkey, The Brokenwood Mysteries), Beulah Koale (Hawaii Five-O, Next Goal Wins), Nicole Whippy (Madam, My Life Is Murder), Dalip Sondhi (Better Man, Mother of the Bride), Jamie Irvine (The Brokenwood Mysteries, Sweet Tooth) and Alison Bruce (The Power of the Dog, The World's Fastest Indian).
It was produced by Magasiva alongside Dan Higgins and Mario Gaoa. Jamie Hilton and Victoria Dabbs served as Executive Producers.
'TINĀ is a rare gem – brimming with authenticity, rhythm and emotional power,' said Kelly Rogers, Managing Director of Rialto. 'We're incredibly proud to champion this uniquely Pasifika story and deliver it to global audiences hungry for heartfelt, original cinema.'
'This is a film made by our community, for our community,' Magasiva said, 'but from day one, we believed it could resonate everywhere. We're humbled and excited to finally share TINĀ with audiences across America, especially in cinemas – where stories like ours come to life in full.'
Annie Murray, CEO of the New Zealand Film Commission, praising the U.S. release, called TINĀ 'a powerful film that's attracting record audiences here at home and drawing unprecedented interest from North America. It's a shining example of the strength and spirit of New Zealand storytelling, and we're so proud of Miki and the team for sharing this unforgettable film with the world.'

Seth Meyers Has Responded To All Of The News Reports About His Beloved Dog Frisbee's Death Being About How Much Andy Samberg Hated Her

You've probably heard by now that Seth Meyers's beloved Italian Greyhound, Frisbee, died earlier this week at age 14. And, if you had heard this news, then you've also probably seen that Frisbee was embroiled in a lifelong feud with Seth's friend and fellow comic Andy Samberg. Let me explain. Related: Andy's beef with Frisbee first became public in a March 2014 episode of Late Night With Seth Meyers, of which Andy was a guest. During the interview, Seth mentioned his 'adorable dog named Frisbee,' only for Andy to correct him: 'You have a dog.' 'You met my dog when she was basically a two-month-old puppy, and you basically said 'No, thank you,'' Seth then revealed, with Andy explaining: 'Frisbee is a dog, who to me, looks kinda rat-like. And I lived in New York for a long time and don't get down on rats.' 'I believe you told my wife that you had seen rocks that were cuter than Frisbee,' Seth recalled. This feud ended up becoming a running bit, and just this year, Seth said of his pal: 'He really hates my dog, and he's hated my dog since she was little, and now she's 14 years old.' 'Here's a true thing he did,' Seth detailed on his show. 'I sent our Christmas card, Frisbee's in it every year. He scratched out her face like a serial killer, and mailed it back.' 'You might as well have sent me anthrax,' Andy confessed as he pointed out Frisbee wearing a knitted reindeer hat in the photo. 'Look at this piece of shit! I had to hire a cleaning crew 'cuz of all the barf in my house.' 'I've been walking home in New York drunk at four in the morning and seen rats I like more than Frisbee,' he insisted. And even when Andy and Seth's mutual friend Colin Jost was a guest on Late Night in early 2021, Andy spammed him with text messages about Frisbee, which Colin read aloud. Related: 'Also, Frisbee sucks, right?' Colin recited at the time. ''The dog.' He specified the dog. 'Please respond. Spinning out. Need to know you hate Frisbee.'' Over the years, Seth leaned into the feeling being mutual, and even joked that Frisbee had hated Andy's movie Palm Springs. And just last month, Seth teamed up with Amy Poehler to prank Andy with the news that Frisbee had died, with the dog's health declining in recent months. Speaking to Amy before her interview with Andy, Seth told her to tell her guest that she'd tried to speak to him before the recording but couldn't because his dog had passed away. Amy agreed, and in video footage, Andy's face visibly lit up when she told him the sad news. Good Hang / Via 'Don't even play because I'll be so happy,' he told her. 'I will never back off that. That dog sucks, dude! And I know this is a good vibes cast, so I don't even want to bring that energy, but that dog is like a rat carcass.' Related: Sadly, Frisbee actually did die earlier this week, with Seth announcing the news in an Instagram post on Tuesday — one day after Andy's birthday. Sharing a collection of photos of the pup, Seth wrote: 'RIP to Frisbee, our OG IG who I was happy to go grey with. She was at her best curled in your lap and patient when we dressed her up like a pilgrim. Thanks for 14 amazing years, girl.' And, totally unsurprisingly, the vast majority of reactions to Frisbee's death referenced Andy, with one of the top comments on Seth's post reading: 'May her ghost haunt Andy Samberg forever 🙏🏻♥️' 'Does anyone have an alibi for samberg?!' somebody else asked, while another added: 'Andy's birthday wish came true :(' News articles covering Frisbee's death also led with Andy's hatred for the dog, and thankfully, Seth is able to see the funny side of it all amid his grief. Sharing a screenshot of a news headline that reads: 'Frisbee, Seth Meyers's Dog and Andy Samberg's Archenemy, Dies' to his Instagram story, Seth wrote: 'Despite being sad about Frisbee's passing, I can also acknowledge that it's very funny every headline is about how much Samberg hated her guts.' Related: He also quote-tweeted a People news article that read: 'Seth Meyers' Dog Frisbee, Famously Disliked by Andy Samberg, Dies at 14' to point out: 'She also disliked him, FWIW.' X @sethmeyers / Via Meanwhile, Andy has not publicly acknowledged his nemesis's death, but we'll be sure to let you know if he does — as always, let me know your thoughts in the comments below! This Company Punches Above Its Weight

Key Points TKO Group Holdings just inked two colossal deals. TKO's revenue and earnings are set to soar this year. 10 stocks we like better than TKO Group Holdings › You may have heard that President Donald Trump is considering hosting an Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) event at the White House next July 4. However, you might not know the company behind UFC. But as an investor, you probably should. TKO Group Holdings (NYSE: TKO) owns two major sports media properties, and they're both on fire. Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is the world's premier mixed martial arts organization, and World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) is the largest and best-known professional wrestling promoter on the planet. Combined, they reach a billion households across 210 countries. In the second quarter, the company generated a profit of $98 million attributable to TKO Group Holdings on revenue of $1.3 billion. Those metrics were up significantly from a year ago. Revenue rose 10% and net income soared 66%. And the revenue and earnings per share both blew past analyst forecasts: Revenue exceeded analyst estimates by 6.2% and earnings per share were 7.5% higher than Wall Street expected. But the best may be yet to come for TKO. Two colossal deals Sure, the White House event could be a hoot, but even more exciting for investors is that TKO just inked a colossal seven-year deal with Paramount for U.S. broadcast rights to its UFC content. Paramount will distribute UFC's 13 marquee events and 30 fight nights via its consumer streaming platform, with several slated for network television on CBS (a Paramount property). The contract is expected to pay TKO an average of $1.1 billion annually for the life of the contract. Paramount says it's also thinking about acquiring the international rights to UFC. And ESPN, which is owned by The Walt Disney Company, recently struck a deal to air all of TKO's WWE events for the next five years, beginning in 2026, which will reportedly pay TKO an average of $325 million a year. That's a huge increase over the $180 million per year that NBCUniversal was reportedly paying TKO for the WWE content. Last year Netflix and TKO agreed to a 10-year, $5 billion agreement that gives the streaming channel rights to Raw, a Monday night professional wrestling event . The January 2025 debut episode of Raw in Los Angeles averaged 2.6 million households in the U.S., more than twice the average views in 2024. New sales and profit expectations By shifting most of its content from traditional pay-per-view to streaming services, TKO is boosting its visibility and reach and unlocking new revenue streams. As a result, analysts on average expect TKO's revenue to grow 67.5% this year to $4.7 billion (from $2.8 billion last year) and another 26% next year to more than $5.9 billion. Earnings are expected to skyrocket from $0.02 a share last year to $2.21 a share this year and more than double that to $5.34 a share next year. If you believe that share prices ultimately follow earnings (as I do), it quickly becomes clear that there's quite a bit of upside for this stock. No wonder it's up 31% year to date and 57% over the past 52 weeks. TKO has been branching out beyond UFC and WWE content, too. Early this year it acquired three sports assets from Endeavor Group Holdings, a privately held sports and entertainment firm. Those properties include IMG, a global sports marketing agency; On Location, a sports hospitality firm that serves the NFL and FIFA's World Cup; and Professional Bull Riders (PBR), the world's premier bull riding organization. There are synergies to be had between these various properties. In April, TKO took over the T-Mobile Center in Kansas City for five days to stage events by WWE, UFC, and PBR. Critics might point to TKO's relatively high valuation -- its trailing price-to-earnings ratio is 75. But the strong earnings growth expected at TKO over the next two years may justify it. You may or may not care for mixed martial arts or professional wrestling. But if you think sports entertainment will only get bigger, TKO is looking like a great way to play it.
