Cold water can cause discomfort, and hot water can strip the natural moisture from the baby's skin.3. KEEP BATHS SHORT AND SWEET:A daily bath not exceeding 15 minutes is preferable. Prolonged exposure to water, even in the heat, can dry the baby's skin.4. FREQUENCYFrequent bathing can strip away the natural oils that protect a baby's delicate skin, potentially leading to dryness or skin irritation. Paediatricians and dermatologists advise limiting baths to no more than 15 minutes. On hotter days, gentle sponging with a soft cloth and lukewarm water can help cool the baby down and keep them fresh without overexposing the skin to water and cleansers.5. PAT DRY AND MOISTURISE:After the bath, gently pat the baby dry with a soft towel. And now, an investigation by the Food Safety and Drug Administration (FSDA) has found that 51 medicines and injections supplied to state-run hospitals over the past year failed quality June, the FSDA wrote to the principal secretary of the health department, directing action against the drug manufacturers. The issue has raised concerns over the efficacy of drugs being provided free of cost to poor and middle-class patients at pharmacies of government-run hospitals. HOW MEDICINES FAIL QUALITY TESTSTo understand how the medicines failed quality tests, India Today visited the lab where the samples were tested by the the process, professor Pushpendra Kumar Tripathi, director of the Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Lucknow University, said a standard tablet should break down within 15 minutes inside the 12 tablets from the same batch fail this test, the drug is declared substandard. Moreover, drugs like ciprofloxacin failed the dissolution test, meaning they did not dissolve in the stomach within the required 30 some cases, the actual drug content was found to be much lower than claimed. Professor Tripathi said even if 400 mg is found in a 500 mg medicine, then the drug is of no use."Manufacturing a medicine is not a big deal. It has to work inside the body. Even a 5 mg shortfall in composition renders it ineffective," the professor medicines were also declared substandard after they did not dissolve at the required pH level. Injections were also found to have failed sterility and particulate matter ON SUPPLIERSConfirming the findings, Partha Sarthi Sen Sharma, principal secretary of the health department, said the UP Medical Supplies Corporation Limited (UPMSCL) had taken strict action in all from imposing penalties on errant suppliers, defective drug stocks have been withdrawn from hospitals and showcause notices have been issued to pharmaceutical companies.- EndsMust Watch
