Rahul Gandhi claims BJP wins since 2014 rigged, mum on Congress
Rahul Gandhi claimed that the Bharatiya Janata Party rigged elections since 2014. He alleged manipulation of up to 100 seats in the recent Lok Sabha polls. Gandhi stated that he has evidence of vote tampering. He recalled an alleged warning from Arun Jaitley. Mallikarjun Kharge raised concerns about voter list revisions in Bihar. Tired of too many ads? Remove Ads Tired of too many ads? Remove Ads New Delhi: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday triggered a political storm by alleging that most elections won by the BJP since 2014 were fraudulent and that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's third term was only possible due to large-scale rigging in the 2024 Lok Sabha polls . Addressing a legal conclave organised by the Congress's legal cell, Gandhi claimed the BJP manipulated up to 100 seats in the recent general election and said his party would soon present doubled down on his recent attack on the Election Commission, claiming he always had doubts about the fairness of BJP's sweeping victories since 2014. "I always had a suspicion that something was wrong, right from 2014... We don't get a single seat in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat. This was surprising to me," he said. Citing "atom bomb-level" evidence of vote tampering, Gandhi alleged that even a rigging of 10-15 seats would have changed the outcome. "Although our suspicion is closer to 70, 80, 100 seats," he also said an upcoming Congress-led event in Karnataka would expose fake voters, claiming that in one seat alone, 1.5 lakh of 6.5 lakh voters were a controversial aside, Gandhi recalled an alleged warning from late BJP leader Arun Jaitley over his support to the farm law protests. "When I was fighting the farm laws, Arun Jaitley ji was sent to me to threaten me," he said. "He told me, 'If you carry on opposing the govt, we will have to act against you.' I looked at him and said, 'I don't think you know who you're talking to'."The remark raised eyebrows as the farm law agitation began in 2020, more than a year after Jaitley's death in August 2019. However, Gandhi positioned the anecdote as part of his broader message of defiance, saying he had told his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra that he wasn't afraid of "playing with fire".Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge also targeted the government over the ongoing voter list revision in Bihar. "If 6.5 to 10 million voters are being excluded in a state of 70 million, it's not an error - it's a calculated move to remove the marginalised from the democratic process," he legal head Abhishek Manu Singhvi echoed the concern, warning that the Constitution was being twisted into a "tool of domination". He said it was the Congress that had built Indian democracy "not just in form but in spirit", and would now be called upon to defend Gandhi made no comments about the State elections that his party won in between.

Tejashwi Yadav listed in Bihar draft electoral rolls with old EPIC, probe on for possible forgery of second card: Report
A day after the Election Commission published the Draft Electoral Rolls as per Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in Bihar, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav's name has not been found for the second EPIC number yet, PTI quoted the ECI as saying on Saturday. The Election Commission even noted that it is quite likely that the second EPIC (Election Photo Identity Card) was never made through an official channel. Rejecting Tejaswi Yadav's allegation that his EPIC number was changed, ECI stated that the RJD leader used the Electoral Roll with EPIC No. RAB0456228 for filling his nomination papers on affidavit in 2020. The ECI sources stated Tejashwi was having this EPIC number even in the electoral roll in 2015, and his name with this EPIC number exists in the draft Electoral Rolls. The other EPIC number - RAB2916120 has been found to be non-existent, and more than 10 years of records have been checked, and further inquiries are being made to understand "whether that is a forged document", added the ECI sources. "The other EPIC number - RAB2916120 has been found to be non-existing. More than ten years old records have been checked. No records have been found for the second EPIC number yet. It is highly likely that the second EPIC was never made through the official channel. Further inquiries are on to understand that reality of the second EPIC number, whether that is a forged document," PTI quoted the source as saying. The former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister had made allegations against the ECI over the draft electoral rolls published on 1 August, saying his name is missing and then stating that his EPIC number has been changed. "If my EPIC number could be changed, then how many people's EPIC number was changed? These are the questions we are posing to the Election Commission. This is a conspiracy to cut people's names from the voter list," he alleged. Yadav, who is the Leader of Opposition in the Bihar Assembly, alleged that his name was missing from the voter list amid the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise in Bihar. "My name is not there in the electoral roll. How will I contest the elections?" Tejashwi Yadav asked. ECI clarified that Tejashwi's name is included in the draft voter list at serial number 416. "It has come to our attention that Tejashwi Yadav has made a mischievous claim that his name does not appear in the draft electoral roll. His name is listed at Serial Number 416 in the Draft Electoral Roll. Therefore, any claim stating that his name is not included in the draft electoral roll is false and factually incorrect," the poll panel said. The District Administration of Patna also clarified the situation and mentioned that his name is included at polling station number 204, Library Building of Bihar Animal Science University. District Magistrate of Patna said, 'It has been learned from some news sources that the name of the Leader of Opposition, Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, is not in the draft voter list of special intensive revision. An investigation was conducted in this regard by the District Administration, Patna. It has become clear in this that the name of the Leader of the Opposition is recorded in the draft voter list.' "At present, his name is recorded at polling station number 204, Library Building of Bihar Animal Science University, serial number 416. Earlier, his name was recorded at polling station number 171, serial number 481, Library Building of Bihar Animal Science University," Patna DM added. The EC said the public has one month to submit claims and objections, assuring that "no name will be removed from the draft voter list without a stated reason." "The draft voter list has been released today in Bihar. One-month period for claims and objections begins; draft list shared with political parties. Still a full one month to get names added. No name will be removed from the draft voter list without a stated reason," the Commission said in a post on X.

Mys-Kushalnagar highway will be ready by March 2027
Mysuru: The ambitious Mysuru-Kushalnagar greenfield access-controlled highway is expected to be completed by March 2027. As the project cost increased to Rs 4,128 crore from the original Rs 3,883 crore, it is likely to be delayed by three months. Earlier, it was scheduled to be completed before 2026. Meanwhile, Mysuru MP Yaduveer KC Wadiyar made it clear that package 1 under this scheme (Kushalnagar-Madikeri) will not be taken up due to the environmental concerns expressed by locals and activists. He also informed that the road will be ready by early 2027. PM Narendra Modi performed the bhoomi puja for this project in March 2023. However, the project is being delayed due to issues related to forest clearance, explained stakeholders. According to the details furnished by Union minister for road transport and highways Nitin Gadkari in response to a question raised by Bengaluru MP Tejasvi Surya, the minister informed that this 92km long highway is expected to be completed before the deadline. He stated that this project is divided into five packages and passes through the Mandya and Mysuru Lok Sabha constituencies. "Efforts are being made to get the forest clearance at the earliest for the project, which connects Paschima Vahini in Srirangapatna with Kushalnagar. Most of the forest land required consists of social forestry land parcels," he explained. Yaduveer, during his recent meeting with Nitin Gadkari, emphasised the need for timely intervention in overcoming delays related to forest clearance for the project.
