Wang Yi to visit Pakistan from Aug 20-22 to attend strategic dialogue: China
Wang will visit Pakistan from August 20-22 and hold the Sixth Round of China-Pakistan Foreign Ministers' Strategic Dialogue with Ishaq Dar, Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said on Tuesday.
In Islamabad, the Foreign Office said that Wang is visiting Pakistan at the invitation of Foreign Minister Dar to co-chair the sixth Pakistan-China Foreign Ministers' Strategic Dialogue on August 21.
'The visit is part of the regular high-level exchanges between Pakistan and China to further deepen their 'All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership', reaffirm support on the issues of respective core interests, enhance economic and trade cooperation, and reaffirm their joint commitment to regional peace, development and stability," the FO said in a statement.
This will be Wang's second visit to Pakistan in three years, and the latest high-level exchange between the two countries following recent bilateral meetings and visits, Mao told a media briefing in Beijing.
The two sides will have in-depth communication on bilateral relations and international and regional issues of mutual interest, she said.
Answering a question, Mao played down recent efforts by Pakistan to improve ties with the US, especially its Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir, who was hosted by US President Donald Trump for a rare lunch, saying Beijing-Islamabad ironclad ties will not be affected by any third party.
Last month, Munir visited China, where he met Chinese Vice President Han Zeng, Wang and top military brass, but not President Xi Jinping, unlike his predecessor Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa.
'The Pakistan-US relationship is a matter between the two countries," Mao said.
'China and Pakistan are ironclad friends and all-weather strategic cooperative partners, and our bilateral relationship is not affected by any third party and does not target any third party," she said.
To a question about Wang's visit to Pakistan close on the heels of his trip to India and whether he would discuss India's concerns over the border terrorism issue, Mao said both India and Pakistan are China's important neighbours.
'We are willing to enhance friendly cooperation with both countries, and hope that differences between these two countries can be properly handled," she said.
Wang, who arrived in New Delhi on Monday, held talks with his Indian counterpart S Jaishankar and attended the 24th round of Special Representatives boundary talks with NSA Ajit Doval on Tuesday.
Asked whether it isn't a challenge to China to pursue relationships with both India and Pakistan at the same time, given the troubled history between the two countries and the current state of affairs, Mao said, 'China is willing to conduct friendly cooperation with both countries".
'As for issues between them, we hope they will find proper solutions. China stands ready to play a constructive role in light of their will," she said. PTI KJV ZH ZH ZH

China opposes US plan to impose up to 50% tariffs on India: Ambassador
China fully opposes the US move of imposing tariffs of up to 50 per cent on India and Washington's threat to increase it, Chinese envoy Xu Feihong said here on Thursday. In his address at an event here, Feihong also said that tariff and trade "wars" were disrupting the global economic and trade system. The Chinese envoy's remark assumes significance as it comes amid a thaw in Sino-India ties. India and China on Tuesday unveiled a series of measures for a "stable, cooperative and forward-looking" relationship that included jointly maintaining peace along the frontier, reopening border trade, promoting investment flows, and resuming direct flight connectivity at the earliest. The announcements aimed at realising the "full" development potential of the two Asian giants came amid growing estrangement in ties between India and the US over President Donald Trump's policies on trade and tariffs. India and China listed the measures in a joint document after Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi held wide-ranging talks earlier this week with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, besides meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Andhra Chambers urges Centre to address US tariffs impact on exports
Last Updated: Amaravati, Aug 21 (PTI) The Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry Federation on Thursday urged the Centre to mitigate the impact of the proposed 50 per cent US tariffs on exporters. The Andhra Pradesh Chambers held a meeting with its 78 affiliated associations in Vijayawada to discuss sectoral challenges and strategies for diversifying exports beyond the American market. 'The impact of the proposed 50 per cent US tariffs on exports would affect many sectors in Andhra Pradesh. We request the Central government to take measures to diversify exports to other countries to reduce the dependence on the US," said Andhra Pradesh Chambers president P Bhaskara Rao, while addressing a press conference. Rao said that the tariff proposal would affect many sectors in Andhra Pradesh, especially aqua culture, textiles, agri products and auto components. He further requested the union government to restore export subsidies, provide easier access to working capital, reduce Goods and Service Tax (GST) rates and cut import duties to make Indian products competitive. Rao said that state-level incentives pending for five to six years must be released by September to give a push to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) struggling with rising fuel and power costs. A detailed representation to both the Central and State governments was submitted to improve the EoDB by bringing reforms in the age-old fire, pollution, and building norms, he said. Further, he requested extending the validity of No Objection Certificates (NOCs) from one to five years with self-certification option. The trade body's general secretary B Raja Sekhar said that India should reduce dependence on US markets and revive schemes like Marketing Development Assistance (MDA), Market Access Initiative (MAI), and Interest Equalisation Scheme (IES) to support exporters. Implementing two-slab GST structure would simplify compliance for businesses and provide relief to sectors hit by tariffs, he added.
