(Bernama pic) MELAKA: The case of a trainee with disabilities who was allegedly bullied at the Durian Tunggal GiatMara is an old one that has already been resolved, according to state education, higher education and religious affairs committee chairman Rahmad Mariman. He said the incident took place in February but only gained attention recently after going viral on social media. He said the students involved were summoned by Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara) following an investigation. 'Mara has recorded statements from all parties, and the students involved have since apologised. They are continuing their skills courses and undergoing plant training, and the case is considered closed. 'The trainee who was allegedly bullied did not sustain any injuries,' Rahmad told reporters here today. Mara chairman Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki had said in a Facebook post yesterday that there would be no compromise for anyone involved in bullying of any kind, whether physical or psychological, at any Mara educational institution. 'The Mara management at all levels and within its educational institutions fully understands my stance. The strictest action will be taken if there is evidence of misconduct or criminal bullying,' he said. The media reported that a young man had uploaded a two-minute video featuring a disabled student with learning difficulties who claimed he had been bullied at the Durian Tunggal GiatMara in Melaka. Mother denies linking case to high-profile individuals

Zara Qairina, 14, was found critically injured beneath the dormitory building of Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Agama (SMKA) Tun Datu Mustapha at around 3am on July 16. She was pronounced dead the following day at Queen Elizabeth I Hospital in Kota Kinabalu. Preliminary findings suggested she had fallen from the third floor of the dormitory. Since the incident, speculation has swirled on social media — including unverified claims of bullying and attempts to associate the case with individuals linked to political figures. However, her lawyers, Hamid Ismail and Shahlan Jufri, said their client, Noraidah Lamat, had never issued any statement implicating anyone in connection with her daughter's death. 'Noraidah has never mentioned any high-profile individual in relation to Zara's death. 'Any such assumptions or allegations are baseless and did not come from her,' the lawyers said in a statement quoted by Berita Harian on Saturday. They also refuted viral claims that a student was shouted at with the words 'you're a murderer' on the day of the incident, and that three students had been transferred out of the school that same day. Noraidah, they said, only learned of these claims after they began circulating online. The case is still under police investigation. So far, statements have been recorded from 60 witnesses, including three individuals whose nicknames have been widely shared on social media, Berita Harian reported. Istana Seri Kinabalu has also issued a firm denial, refuting social media rumours linking the case to the family of Sabah Governor Tun Musa Aman. In the same statement, Noraidah's lawyers urged the public to refrain from spreading unverified information or speculating further on the case. 'Spreading false or baseless claims can interfere with the police investigation and defame innocent parties. KOTA KINABALU: Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail urged the public to stop making negative comments about the student bullying case in Papar that could cause unrest and touch on sensitive racial, religious and royalty (3R) issues. Speaking to the media after visiting Governor Tun Musa Aman, Mohd Khalid pointed out the need to give police adequate space to complete their investigation thoroughly. 'I appeal to all parties to allow police to continue their investigation. Negative comments and public perceptions linking this to 3R issues sometimes make it difficult for us to complete investigations. 'I urge related parties not to make negative comments that could create an unhealthy atmosphere or unrest by associating certain parties, politics, or the palace with this issue,' he said. Regarding the bullying case involving the death of 13-year-old Zara Qairina Mahathir from Sipitang on July 17, Mohd Khalid said 60 witnesses comprising students, staff and teachers have been interviewed. 'We have obtained substantial information and evidence. The investigation papers have been completed and submitted to the Criminal Investigation Department at Bukit Aman headquarters and will be brought to the Deputy Public Prosecutor for further action,' he said. The IGP said his visit to the Governor was aimed at discussing security and stability issues in Sabah, including domestic matters and international concerns involving territorial waters with the Philippines and claims by China. 'We are in a win-win situation, discussing matters properly to ensure everything can be resolved well,' he added. Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Jauteh Dikun accompanied him during the visit.
